With that said, have fun!
Len stood outside of the big neon-sign spelling B-A-R in changing colors. They had liked the world a bit better when electronics didn’t get misused for living up the nightlife, but had gotten it down to a mild annoyance over the years. Instead of pulling the plug or jumping up to pull off the letters, they now just sent a few mean looks the way of the light source, cursing under their breath about ‘youth now-a-days’.
They had told Fell to come find them. That was a part of the deal. There was not really any worry about if Fell was up to the task or not, as he always found them. No matter what. Almost as if he had planted a tracker or a microchip on them. He hadn’t. They had checked. Thoroughly. And when one doesn’t die from losing arms, legs and skin, thoroughly meant thoroughly, one body-piece at a time. There had been nothing.
“Evening, Love.” Fell’s voice gnarled behind them. Len turned around. Fell stared daggers compared to the loving words. It was almost worse than the look Len had sent the waste of progressive technology just a second earlier, but not quite. There was a hint of amusement mixed into it. A look that always meant trouble for Len, and they knew this.
“So you found me. Again.” Len’s annoyed tone was on full display. Like they showed all of their cards, and still had no doubt they would win.
“I will always find you. I will follow you to the end of the Earth, and all the way down to Hell, only to make that place seem like Heaven compared to what I will put you through.” Fell’s words were spoken sweetly, laced with poison. His romantic words got mixed up in a strange obsession Len had never quite understood. One day, Fell had simply been there, making it his life mission to ruin their life. Or rather, lives. As someone who couldn’t die, one had to assume many lives over the years to not stand out. Constantly on the move.
“But that will end after tonight.” Len didn’t ask. They simply came with the statement they had agreed on last time Fell came to ruin a good thing.
“If you win.” Fell responded, his eyes glistening with confidence. There was only amusement in his tone, as he didn’t believe in what he said at all.
“When you lose, you’re mine.” Fell smiled. His fangs showed in the horrible neon light. Len didn’t know exactly how Fell intended to ruin his life any further, but they wouldn’t want to find out. For the choice of game that had been decided upon, they knew they had the upper hand.
Fell might be handsome with a devilish charm, but he screamed danger. Only someone that didn’t value their own life would choose him over Len, who was at least just as handsome, but with a calm and relatable vibe over them.
That Fell chose such a childish thing, as choosing a prey, and making said prey choose between them, had surprised Len. It seemed too simple. Too easy. But Fell wasn’t one to break promises. When Fell had promised to ruin their life over and over, he kept it after all. So be that what it might, Len would win and finally get to live out their undead life in peace.
“So, should we, Love?” Fell reached out his hand to Len with a grin. His smile could kill, and he knew it. He wielded it as his greatest weapon, having full control over how to adjust it correctly to have the desired effect. Whether that be swooning or chills.
Len simply pushed the hand aside with disgust, taking a step forward into the bar. They stood, side by side, taking the breath away from every man, woman and other-gender-identifying person in the room. Even the typical straight male had to take an extra look before envy filled him up.
They both looked around. Fell knew it wouldn’t be hard to find someone they would agree on. It was all according to his plan. Though the idea for a game had come out of nowhere, it was an amusing thought, he had taken advantage of on the spot.
“That guy?” Len pointed to a human sitting at the almost utter edge of the bar. There was one chair beside him before he would have reached the wall. Fell grinned, knowing he was once again right. Len had chosen someone he could get behind. Literally. The human wasn’t extraordinarily beautiful, nor could he be described as ugly, but his charm shone through the room. There was a certain delicious air around him, that wasn’t quite for the eye to see.
“Whatever you want, Love.” Fell teased, sounding like he already had the upper hand. Which, in fact he thought he did. Len thought the same for themselves.
“You can go first.” Len offered, letting their annoyance once again shine through, as they looked towards the human, still sitting alone. He seemed a bit like an outsider with both chairs beside him empty. It wasn’t that uncommon for a good-looking man to be alone in a bar, but it was a bit unusual for him to keep being alone. People automatically got a bit wary with Fell around, so it made sense the pair got left alone, but a simple human, not so much.
“Oh no, I insist on you having a go first. It wouldn’t be right to not even give you the chance.” Fell’s buttery voice tingled the ears of the people around them, giving only mental goosebumps to Len, who couldn’t get the real thing, as they were dead.
“Don’t play with me, just do it.” Len threw out with clenched teeth, as their annoyance got worse. The way Fell managed to be confident and nonchalant about everything, teasing them every time he opened his mouth, and constantly felt like he had the upper hand started to get on their nerves. Len wouldn’t fall back. They were close to getting rid of him for good, and damn it if they would let that chance pass. BUT, going first meant having an unfair advantage, and both seemed to be aware of this.
Neither would bow down and go first, as neither wanted their victory to be questioned once obtaining it. Which both were sure they would.
“Let’s just go together…” Len said in a very low voice, feeling like they had just admitted a weird kind of defeat by breaking stalemate. It was the best idea they could come up with, but knowing what Fell would say next annoyed them to no end.
“Whatever you want, Love.” Fell said with a smirk, just as Len had predicted, and mental goosebumps once again started to appear.
