‘Please inform your colleagues upon this decision. It was a mistake to debut you so soon, let’s stop here, while we still have fonds left, and maybe, when the right time comes, maybe–’ the loud voice of the man echoes in the room, his tone was harsh and he did not glare a single look upon the girl that was kneeling before him.
There were papers thrown on the floor, surrounding the small figure of the girl that looked down, at one line that was written on one of the papers. Written in bold letters, the line stated: ‘Mutual agreement between parties in regards to the closure of the contract.’, and upon those words, the fate of the group that did not debut even a month ago, was sealed.
The girl begging on the floor felt frustrated. They had trained hard for 5 years. Training even before the sun rises until the stars were up in the sky, it did not matter, as long as they could see their dream come true, nothing was impossible. So, now, when they got the chance to hold onto their dream, it was suddenly taken away from them. Without a doubt, she felt frustrated, she felt how powerless she was, she felt as if… she had failed them.
Her colleagues, all of them, without a doubt, trusted her to be their leader, to lead them to the path they deserved to walk on, and yet, she could not even give them the chance to shine. Powerless, she kneeled down before the director of the company. Upon his signature, the group could or couldn’t exist.
‘Director, it’s unfair. If I have failed as a leader, please only punish me. It’s only been a month since we’ve debuted, there’s no way we could achieve the same success as our seniors, but we didn’t even get the chance to keep fighting. We can break through this industry if you allow us to try.’ the girl begged as she felt her eyes getting watery. ‘Punish me, but please, allow them to pursue their dream.’
Only upon hearing those words, the director glanced over at the girl. Sighing, he put his forehead into his hand, looking at the desolate sight before his eyes.
‘It is not that you did something wrong as a leader, but it’s just that you, all of you, were unlucky. Maybe, if we give you another chance in another group, you will achieve the fame we hoped for.’
‘If we really are unlucky, then do you think that our luck will change later? How long do we have to wait? Is it one year, 5 years, 10 years? We’ll lose every hope by then. This is our only chance. Please, reconsider your decision.’ upon making this statement, the girl had raised her head from the ground, looking straight at the man.
He seemed displeased after hearing her, but he did not argue with her. Looking at her, begging him on the ground, he felt pity towards the girl. He could not resonate with her, as he was never in such a position before, but he could get a feeling of what the girl felt in that moment. Before he could come with an agreement, the girl came with a proposal.
‘Please, give us 6 months. If the results are still the same, we will disband without a word, but if we manage to get satisfying results, please allow us to continue as a group.’
For the first time since the discussion started, this was the only moment when the director smiled. He was pleased upon hearing her statement, then he questioned how will her idea work.
‘I won’t disapprove, but we can run you guys for 6 months when you barely make any profit?’ He asked the most important question, maybe hoping that the girl would back down, yet she had prepared an answer.
‘I will pay for it. I don’t have much, but tomorrow morning, I will put my motorcycle for sale. I'll give you even the last bit of the money I make from selling it. I’ll get another part-time job and I’ll give you every bit of my salary. I’ll only keep the minimum amount of the money I make, and will give you it all. It is not enough, but it will be the minimum to keep it running for some time. Please, consider this proposal.’ said the girl as she lowered her head once again.
‘Very well. Then, we have a deal, Yu Na.’ the director said, laughing
After that night, many things had changed. Harder than before, the girls trained day and night. All of them tried to improve themselves, and their results reflected in their work. Although it was still a humble beginning, the girls gained a trusted following. Before the girl's eyes, hope shines once again. When the 6 month mark came, the director rewarded their hard work and allowed them to continue as a group. Time passed, and when they celebrated their 1 year anniversaries, they had the opportunity to perform on one of the biggest stages an idol could dream to perform.
It was an award ceremony held in September and many famous groups had attended. The venue had more than 50.000 people attending, so, without a doubt it was an incredible opportunity to have. The girls were beyond grateful that they got the chance to perform there, despite the fact that they were scheduled to perform last. It did not matter, as long as they had the chance to perform there, it was enough.
Even moments before they got up on the stage, they still rehearsed the songs that they had to perform on stage. After all, this was something they could not miss out on. Moments later, when the hosts announced their presence, it wasn’t accompanied by the loud cheerings that were heard before, but still, people cheered upon them. In that darkness of the night, here and there, they could see their fans lighting up their lightsticks and shouting their name: Roseleen.
‘For our fans who always supported us, tonight, let’s enjoy for the first time our next song Eternal love!’ shouted the leader of the group, Kang Yu Na.
The light shone upon them, the song echoed, and their voices were heard loud and clear, even in the back of the arena where they performed. They gave up their all, as they put everything they had in every move of their body, she danced flawlessly to the choreography, they still sang live without even the slightest crack of the voice. Everything unfolded perfectly, maybe too great, to say the least.
When the song was almost at the end, Yu Na got a strange feeling. As if she could feel her heart skip a beat, she remembered the words their director said that very night: ‘Unlucky.’. His words echoed inside her mind and, and with that, she lost concentration: soon, she missed a step from the choreography, and upon making this mistake, her voice cracked when she sang her line. Looking at the crowd, she felt cold glares pointed at her.
Upon dreaming to this day, she thought countless times that this was the day their life would change, that this day would be the one where their fate turns for the good. She dreamed of this day, and when this day arrived, she could feel a bitter sensation inside her mouth. She failed. She made a mistake, and upon that mistake, everything slipped through her fingertips.
A loud bang echoed, loud and clear, then another bang came, then another one. The crowd screamed in horror and the music stopped. Before realizing, Yu Na thought that this was the reaction upon her mistake, yet, her conclusion was wrong. No one even noticed her mistakes on stage, yet, what they noticed was the once white dress of hers that now was stained with blood. She looked down, raising her trembling hand and resting it against her stomach. She felt blood gushing out of one of the wounds. She tried smiling: it had to be a joke. In that moment that felt endless, she thought to herself that maybe she was hallucinating, that, despite the fact that the concert was held in an open space, no one could have brought a weapon there, not with the security that checked upon every participant. Then, how did this happen? Was it truly that she was so unlucky? Was this the outcome of her foolish dream? What was the meaning of all of those, she wondered as her legs lost power and she fell on the cold stage. Her vision became blurry and she tried to murmur something, but her voice got stuck inside her throat. As if she was drowning in the deep, cold water, everything lost its meaning and became a endless darkness, and in that darkness, she heard someone whispering.
‘It’s unfairs, isn’t it? Should I take pity on you and give you a second chance? What do you say?’ the voice whispered before his ear.
And the girl responded: ‘Save me.’
