“So…let me get this straight” I said as I leaned on the wall, honestly…not knowing what to do. “The magic that is in like…everything and anything in the world has been around for as long as the world has…decided that me, just a Seer who can’t do jack-shit like all of the magical people around me, was the perfect pair for you…a warlord. And that magic gives you and your cousins nightmares to give you the impression as to who and where your Bonds are…as a way for the magic to…draw you to them or draw the two of you together…and your nightmares are drawing you to me and you believe that I am your Bond.”
“I don’t believe that you…I know you are.” He whispered
“I’m sorry, but…how am I supposed to believe that?” I asked, he sighed
“I understand that you don’t believe it, especially sense I just flat out told you everything having to do with it, but…it was just tearing myself up inside. My cousins found ways to keep it secret a bit more or ease their Bonds into knowing about what the magic is. I…. I can’t do that; I never have been graced with tact like that.” He added as he looked up towards me, those huge, oversized amber eyes of his boring to the very depths of my souls, his irises were like that unicorn guy’s and his hoofs are without a doubt horse like.
“Are you…crying?”
“No, my eyes are just a little watery because I’m having to talk about all of this.” He said as he rested his chin on his hands again, “I…understand if you don’t want like anything to do with me or whatever, the Bond however…it can’t be undone…one the magic has made its choice, there is no getting rid of the Bond.”
“What if you or one of your cousins don’t want a Bond?”
“Vladislav did that, he resist and refused to deepen his…it nearly killed him.” He said nearly getting choked up, “His magic turned to poison within his body and destroyed him. He was…extremely sick and violently so because of how he was rejecting the Bond even though his boyfriend was fully supportive of it happening. He was just scared of what would happen to the world if he decided to go with it.”
“What do you mean…what would happen to the world?”
“Oh, Kal and Zavier both had…weird things happen with their Bonds, like the magic decided that the best time for their Bonds to start forming was while a dangerous magic supremacy group was starting to make their moves.” He said with a heavy sigh, “Zavier had it the worst…Vladislav was worried about something like that happening again which is why he refused to let the Bond deepen or form, he was afraid of harming the world in any way shape or form, he’s a surgeon, he takes his oath beyond to heart. I thought that by…telling you everything the first time we met…would be the way I can avoid causing anything from happening.”
“And…and of your three cousins who…have this…they’ve gotten married and the other two are dating?” I asked feeling…kind of flustered.
“It’s what the Bond wants to happen. There’s this long stupid poem that served as the incantation for the Bond having formed within the very magic that makes up our kind.” He said with a soft golden flash through his eyes. “The Bond is our best friend, the best lover, the best partner…our perfect other half.”
“And the Bond thinks that I…a person with arguably no magic, works for the police and has never stepped foot in magic till the other day and not even mentioning that I am straight…is the perfect half for you?” I asked, he slowly nodded. “I’m sorry, Princeton…but I don’t know how to even respond.”
“It’s fine, Dorian.”
“How…how did you know my name?” I asked, I don’t recall telling him my name, he just motioned upwards.
“Magic tells us the first names of our Bonds, but that’s it, we get the vague idea of what their magic looks like, but…other than that…it gives us nothing, all we can work with is the intense pulling feeling that the magic makes us feel around them.” He explained
“How…how can you be sure it’s me?”
“All I know about this is that there is nobody else in the world for me…except you.” He whispered making me almost flinch a little at the rather…intensity of which he said it, the words he chose, how he chose them…he was completely serious.
“But you know nothing about me.”
“And you know nothing about me” he offered, “Kal and Anthony have always had this…hero and damsel complex about the two of them, Kal was always having to save Anthony…”
“I heard earlier…Anthony…the model, was the husband of the eldest of all of you…he and the eldest of all you…are a Bond?”
“The two are” he said with a slow and deep nod, “Same with Zavier and Kain and Vladislav and Aden…and now, you and me.”
“Also…you’re…half-archdemon, no?”
“I am…half at least”
“Aren’t you supposed to be…I don’t know” I asked as I motioned with my hands to imitate horns, “All evil or something?”
“No, we got all of the strength, all the magic, all the power of our archdemon parents along with the various tiles or aspects they pass on, but we have the humanity, the morality and the kindness from our other parents: Kal is half human, Zavier is half-archangel and Vladislav is half Lady-Noon.”
“Two things.”
“Go ahead.”
“Half-archangel?” I asked, he nodded, “One of your cousins is…half-fucking angel?”
“Archangel” he softly corrected, “We all reacted the same too…the warlords are not a very numerous species, the only ones of us that exist are myself and my cousins: the twenty-nine or so of us. All of us are cousins and we are all we have…the warlords are only the spawn of the archdemons and all of us are the only ones who are the direct children of the archdemons…there are only us and there only ever will be us. Only Kal and one other of my cousins are half human, all the rest of us are half-something else magical, myself, I am half-chronomental.”
“Chronomental?”
“Time elemental. My mother, she’s considered one the leaders of Towerblock due to how powerful and how old she is because of the fact she is a chronomental.” He explained
“So…you’re half-archdemon, half-like time itself, and your entire species is blessed with some weird soulmate bondage curse that claims that I am your soulmate?” I asked
“I know that it seems crazy”
“Yeah…it’s crazy” I said with a nod
“How am I supposed to take…any of that easily? I am still trying to process that magic is real.”
“I know, I only wanted to tell you all of this as soon as I met you because of the fact…I thought it might have been easier for you to process…everything at once instead of two huge blows right after each other, instead…just at the same time. Get it over quicker and get through quicker and hopefully…you’d let me help you through it.” He said as he looked up at me with those huge, glowing amber doe-like eyes and a pleading look and tone on his voice making me think my heart actually twisted in my chest like his voice was actually gripping at my heartstrings. “I just wanted to know all of this at the same time so that…I could be here to help you and answer all of your questions. If you’ll just…give me that.” He whispered again as his eyes tightly closed.
