Just before she was hit by the sword, she took a handful of dirt and threw it into the guard’s face. In that instant, when the guard got taken aback by the sudden reaction of the girl, Yu Na managed to run away. She didn’t know where she was heading as this place was new to her, but she was running through dark alleys, so, soon enough, she bumped into someone that, like her, was running away. It was no time for them to excuse each other, when the boy saw the guard that was following him approaching soon, he took the girl by the hand and they ran together. The person who just saved Yu Na wasn’t Yeong-hwan, but someone else. Looking back, the guard wanted to follow them, but he got carried away when two other guards appeared and took him to another side of the chaos.
When they got into a secluded area, the boy stopped and sighed in relief. Yu Na could look at him clearly now. The man was very tall and he had long, dark brown hair, with dark eyes. He was dressed differently from all the people that she saw until then, as his clothes looked more elegant that the others, she assumed that he must be a high noble, but what was he doing there?
‘Did I hit you?’ asked softly the boy
‘No, I’m sorry I got in your way when you were running. Thank you for saving me too.’ she said as she smiled to him, then she opened her fist to see if the ring that she found was still there and that she didn’t lose him when running
The boy suddenly saw the ring that Yu Na was helding in her hand. He looked closely at it. His eyes sparkled with joy and it was clear on his face that he was relieved.
‘I’m sorry, may I have a look at the ring that you’re holding?’ and Yu Na quickly nodded her head, giving him the ring. He saw the rose engraved on the back and smiled in relief. ‘I thought I'd lost my ring.’
‘Oh, it was your ring? It’s… very beautiful’ she said as she noticed the boy had many rings on his hands and she was certain that he was the true owner of the lost ring
‘I know you found it first, but it’s a very precious ring of mine, would you mind if you gave me back my ring? I promise that I’ll give you something more beautiful. You have my words.’ he eagerly said to the girl
‘There’s no need to! I’m glad that the ring returned to it’s true owner. You don’t have to worry about me, but I appreciate your offer.’ gently said Yu Na as she looked at the joy on the boy’s face that soon enough turned into a worrying expression
‘What is happening here, may I ask? I was going to meet one of my friends, but when I got here, it was chaotic. How about you? What are you doing out here?’
‘I really have no clue about what is happening, I just found out this too… as I’m looking for someone… he told me to stay in the house, but someone broke in and I was so scared for my life that I ran to find him.’ murmured Yu Na, trembling in the cold weather
‘That’s not good. Let’s find your friend, it’s dangerous to go alone. I’ll accompany you if you give my permission. I’ll then find my friend. Maybe things will get under control until then.’ and Yu Na was relieved that he offered to help her, as she replied that she would be grateful if he helped her.
And so, they managed to leave the area and they began searching for Yeong-hwan. It looked like the rain had stopped, and with that, the guards seemed to retreat to the place they came from. Outside, people were trying to calm themselves after the shock that they went through.
Soon, Yu Na saw Yeong-hwan coming from a dark alley. She was so relieved to find him that she ran and embraced him tightly.
‘I’m sorry I left the house, but I was so scared, someone broke in… and… and…’ she stopped when Yeong-hwan put his hand on her face
‘You did the right thing. You were right, someone got in and searched our house, but it’s okay now.’
The boy that saved Yu Na approached Yeong-hwan. They both looked into each other’s eyes.
‘Yeong-hwan?!’ shouted the boy, surprised
‘Hyun-woo, when did you… come here?’ asked Yeong-hwan, as surprised as the boy was.
