Yu Na waited in the room for the boys' return. She looked sadly at the outcome that happened after she ran away from the danger. The precious belongings of Yeong-hwan were thrown and ripped. The table that in the morning was full of books that he spent hours working on now was empty. The ripped pages were laying on the ground. Yu Na couldn't do anything except put all the ripped pages that she could pick up from the ground on his table.
A lot of things happened that day, to the point where she felt much more overwhelmed than the day before, a feeling she never thought she would experience after the shock that she went through, yet it happened. She put her hand on her forehead and felt a feverish sensation.
'I wonder how this body is so strong, after all it went through, a simple fever is something I should not be bothered with.' she thought to herself, then her attention was distracted by the loud voices of the boys
She couldn't understand what they were talking about as they were quite far away from the room, but this didn't stop Yu Na's curiosity. Her body felt overwhelmed by guilt, in that moment she thought to herself that maybe this wasn't the right decision. Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the boy's presence. Yeong-hwan was the first to enter, followed by Hyun-woo who was having a worried expression.
'Let's dine, shall we? We have to recharge our powers for the morning that is awaiting us.' quickly told Yeong-hwan in order to escape any unnecessary conversation
So, with Yu Na's help, the three of them sat together at the table. Like earlier, there wasn't much variety in the meal, but what was important was the fact that it was a warm food made with love. Yeong-hwan poured to Hyun-woo a glass of sake, following by the sentence: 'To welcome you after this long journey that you had to travel!', and with that, Hyun-woo let out a small laugh.
'Yeong-hwan, do you know what day it is today?' Yu Na's question surprised the boys
'The date? So sudden?' taken aback, Yeong-hwan questioned. 'It's September 13, why do you ask? Do you think today's date is related somehow to the incident with the royal guards, or?'
After hearing the sudden date, she almost choked with food. She felt her heart beating out fast and memories flooded her mind. That date that for someone didn't mean anything, for her meant a lot. On September 13, Roseleen, the group that she was the leader of, debuted on that date and, to her surprise, September 13 was the day when the concert where she got hurt was held. Yet how was that possible? She remembered her personalized ring that resembled so much to the one Hyun-woo was holding.
'I just remembered something from my past. Hyun-woo, isn't the date September 13 also engraved on your ring? Or is it not?' as she asked this, Hyun-woo became pale, how did she know this
'Did you have time to see the date on the ring? It was hard to see this small date in the darkness of the night. Then how did you see it?'
Yeong-hwan was more curious now than ever about what was behind the meaning of this date, yet it seemed like his curiosity wasn't going to be resolved, as the girl tried to brush off the subject.
'I was just curious as I saw a glimpse of the number when I found the ring, I'm sorry if it seemed like we could have an answer to the chaos that unfolded today.'
With Yu Na's answer, the subject was dropped, as they continued to eat in peace and the boys talked over some political matters that Yu Na couldn't quite understand, so she just listened in hope of learning some more about the place that she was in.
After the meal, Yeong-hwan informed Hyun-woo that he can sleep in the room next to their room, as he would spend the night with Yu Na. Yu Na wanted to say that if they wanted to stay together that night and talk over things, they could, but Hyun-woo intervened.
'Oh, don't mind me! I always sleep in this room, and, after all, I'll have to give some space to the couple! Isn't that right, Yeong-hwan?' smirked Hyun-woo after that, leaving them alone in that awkwardness.
Yeong-hwan quickly entered the room, his cheeks turned red from the sudden embarrassment, but he was quick to get his head around other matters. So, he looked at the mess that Yu Na tried to clean. He was sad at the scenery in front of his eyes, at the hours that were wasted on the work and the more that were bound to come because he had to sort out every page. Yet, at that moment, there were more important things than sorting some ripped pages. Glancing at Yu Na who stood near the entrance in the room, he made a gesture to come closer.
‘Let me take a look at your wounds.’
‘There’s no need, for real. You had a lot to endure today, and a matter so small like this one can be done by myself, but I really appreciate your effort.’ spoke Yu Na in a soft manner
Yeong-hwan understood the boundaries set by Yu Na, so he stopped insisting. He stood at his usual place, looking over the manuscripts. Yu Na found a place near him and stood there. Playing with her dress, she wanted to make a confession.
‘I’m sure you’ll be mad at me, but I’ve entered the room you had closed. I’m sorry.’
In that moment, Yeong-hwan’s eyes met Yu Na’s eyes, and, for the first time, Yu Na saw the scared expression on his face. The silence that fell in the room was louder than their breaths. It looked like Yeong-hwan was shocked by what he was hearing, but he tried to remain calm. After the discussion with Hyun-woo from earlier, it seemed like deep wounds had been opened.
‘I know you entered. I’m not angry if you entered just to stop the fire… I’ve seen the ashes.’ quietly replied the boy
‘That’s the main reason why I entered, but then I saw that journal you kept and I looked it over. I did a bad thing, right?’
After hearing that, he smiled in relief as it seemed like that was the only thing that the girl had discovered in that room, so he replied to her with a smile.
‘I keep that agenda to write new ideas for books, so I don’t mind.’ he lied to her.
