It was Friday now, their one day off before going to Cleveland and maybe Toledo but it wasn't likely. All that Lyla planned was that she was going to get those buckeyes she promised Ian to bring back for him and Evan.
"Hey Jenna, you wanna come with me to the store?"
"Which store?"
"Sam's Club."
"Is that like the American Costco?"
"Yep, even though we have those here."
"But it's eleven in the morning, are you sure they're open on a Friday?"
"Yeah, they always are, plus I want to get lunch there as well."
"Alright?" Lyla starts to walk out of their shared room before backtracking once again.
"Also you should wear that outfit I bought you, it's nice out today."
"Where is it?" Jenna props herself against the headboard of the bed, still under the covers. Lyla was already dressed in black ripped shorts and a tucked in white button down shirt, hair in a lazy ponytail that made the ends look like a pom-pom, and some white VSCO glasses perched on her head.
"It's in my suitcase but I can grab it if you want."
"Alright." The girl kneels down, unzipping her suitcase and shuffling through many things to find the clothes she washed yesterday.
"Here, I also need to see if I can return them." Jenna nods and shoos her out of the room, wanting her own privacy. Slipping off the night time clothing that stuck to her body except for the shorts she pulls everything together, tucking the shirt and undershirt into the skirt and looking at herself long in the mirror that was in the corner.
"Lyla, can you come here?" The door opens once again and the girl immediately smiles.
"Gorgeous." The word slips from her lips as she's taken aback by the other. Jenna looks down before she can feel her hand on her head, seeming to pat down some of the loose strands of hair . Looking up she sees the grin on Lyla's face with the small gleam in her eyes.
"What do you think?" She asks, gripping her left wrist.
"You look amazing."
"Thanks." Once she's done getting prepped by the other they head to the kitchen to see that that's where everyone else was.
"Wow you guys sleep in too much." Lizzy chuckles. Lyla rolls her eyes, frowning.
"I was up before all of you guys thank you very much." The comedian states.
"Then why didn't you come down to alert all of us?" Amelia asks.
"She was probably taking time looking at her girlfriend." Emma smirks.
"Oh my god you guys, you need to give it up, we're just really close friends that's it."
"Yeah, back off." Mel slits her eyes to everyone else, they refrain from saying anything else.
"Aye Mel, sorry to ask once again but can I take your car?"
"Just name the reason and I'll hand the keys."
"I needa get some buckeyes for the boys."
"Oh right, you promised them, alright the car is yours."
"Courtney, is there anything I need to get for you?"
"Nope, I'm gonna go to the store tomorrow."
"Alright."
"Hey Lyla, if you go anywhere else can you see if there's a pride flag? I wanna show up my friends in Aussie land." Lin chuckles afterwards.
"Sure thing, but if I don't I know of something on Amazon."
"Right."
"Ight, see y'all later and I ain't bringing back food so scavenge." She takes Jenna's hand as they head for the door, putting their shoes on and going into the outside world.
"They're finally together." Lin crosses her arms looking at the others as they nod in approval.
The two girls get into the car and back out of the driveway, heading out of the city to the place with the goods.
"They're very uppity about things." Jenna remarks, looking at her reflection in the window.
"They can be yes, but that's only when they don't have food."
"Heh, I guess." The car returns to silence. Lyla puts on a radio station that starts to play a song she half knows but hasn't heard in years, Champion by American Authors. She starts humming to it a little bit after the radioman shuts up.
Jenna looks over to see the one that she loves in her zone, humming along to the music, tapping her hand on the steering wheel to the sound of the beat, her head swaying from side to side. All of it makes her smile.
"You bring me life when I'm undone."
"In my coliseum you are my champion."
Both of them smile as they both lean back, singing to the songs that play as they head to the store. From the songs that Lyla has kept track in her head, after Champion was Breezeblocks, Break your heart, and Parents before they made it to the parking lot of Sam's Club.
"Alright, if I remember correctly they should be over here..." They walk over to a shelf that has the sweets perched by the thousands.
"They're eight dollars per thing."
"Small price to pay for salvation." Jenna chuckles as she goes to take one of the containers of sweets.
"How many do they need?"
"Least get six, I want to get myself some ever since I lost the recipe from my mom."
"Why haven't you just asked her for it."
"Been too busy with traveling to ask her."
"Bullshit, you only go on tours twice a year, the rest you do voice work."
"I'm just too busy, I'm also a writer, you know."
"How are you doing all these jobs and still not being stressed?" Jenna looks off at something else as she asks this.
"Well writing is a hobby I still have and I went to California Arts for that along with performance and voice work but my only two main jobs are voice acting and stand-up."
"But I've seen that you're pretty popular on Ao3 as well, what's that about?"
"I mean my writing's grown, definitely, but people just like my stories that's about it."
"Alright then. Is there anything else we need?"
"Not that I know of." The two make their way to the cash registers only to go to self-checkout since they only had six items. As they partially try to make their way out of the weekend rush Lyla, of course like a five year old child heads towards the canteen, ordering one pretzel and some type of cheese sauce, looking over she sees Jenna with an unreadable face.
"We can share if you want."
"Rather would've gotten McDonald's."
"Oh come on, you'll be tasting some of my childhood here, or at least the American part since Costco doesn't have good food." Jenna rolls her eyes but stays close to the other as they wait off to the side, the comedian getting overly excited.
The girl puts a hand on the other's arm. "Quit being so excited, it's showing."
"You embarrassed?"
"Yes, this is a public place."
"So you would rather let me be excited about something such as you in the outfit I bought you or a pretzel somewhere alone than right now."
"Well it means that I have all of the excitement and the others don't."
"Doesn't make sense but okay." She smacks her wrist before her whole arm starts to seize a little, some look confused and terrified but she just gives a little smile and they return to what they were doing.
Her right arm would usually do this, when she was cold it would just flip out and she couldn't control it. Lyla's dad thinks she has Tourette's as her arm would freak out and she would make strange noises at times of the day, along with swearing like a sailor. But she never was diagnosed with it and if she did it would be a weak case of it as she could control it.
When the pretzel turns up she grabs it and takes a few more things of the cheese sauce before returning back to her lover, a grin on her face.
"You're really like a child." Jenna sighs, putting one of the sauces in the pocket of her jacket she was wearing.
"I am not."
"I'm doubting that so hard right now."
"Fine." The two walk away from the canteen, showing their receipt to the person at the exit and leaving, heading back to the car. Lyla sets down the pretzel on the console as Jenna safely puts the buckeyes somewhere.
"You can take the first piece, I need to open this." She fumbles with the seal of the sauce.
"Do you need help?" Jenna asks, putting her hand out. The comedian sighs in defeat and hands the container over.
"I really need to get longer nails."
"Only if you want to." She hands the container back, fully open and starts to take apart the pretzel.
They share the pretzel and talk about anything until getting sucked into watching some strange YouTube videos that make each of them laugh for no reason.
"Ah the days of Vines." Lyla chuckles as the last of the pretzel is eaten.
"Yep, now is there anywhere else we need to go?"
"For myself no, is there somewhere you want to go?"
"I keep wondering what this Target place is, can we go there?"
"Oh yeah, Target is a store like Walmart, I know they had them in Alberta at one point."
"I know what a Target is Lyla, I just haven't been there in so long."
"Oh... Sorry, then let's g--" A notification stops the rest of Lyla's sentence, she looks at it to see a text from her mom. "Hold on." Jenna nods, cleaning up the rest of their trash before getting out of the car to throw it out.

(Reminder Lyla is Italic and her mother is normal)
Lyla
Yes?
I heard you're in Ohio, is that correct?
Yeah, what did you need?
Well your aunt Britney is calling everyone to your grandparents place
And she wants me there?
Yep, so if you can, can you come down to Lima please.
Sure, also there's something I need to address down there too
Are you going to come out?
It seems that I should, along with bringing my girlfriend
Do you have someone now? Congrats
Thanks mom, anyway we'll be down there in around thirty minutes, I need to tell Mel and them of what's happening.
Alright, love you dear
Love you too

"Is there something wrong?" Lyla props her arm on the steering wheel as the other slides back into the car, sighing deeply.
"Yeah, my mom wants us to be down in Lima since my aunt is doing somethin'"
"So..?"
"We have to go down there, anything in my family, especially my mom's side, always needs my attention."
"Alright then let's go."
"I have to tell the others though."
"Fear not, I can do that." Jenna whips out her phone and starts to tap away to the group chat they all made the night prior. "And done, now let's go." After a few minutes multiple responses come in. Most of them said 'okay' while Mel's was a little more responsive.
"If you're going down there then you're paying for gas, that's about it, have fun you lovebirds. Jesus, they'll never give us a break." Lyla read out as they still sat in the parking lot.
"Until we come out at least."
"True. But I doubt it." She starts the car, it's engine humming to life, backing out as she turns and they start their journey to Lima.
