After the terrible and hateful moment in Lima they return to Columbus. Lyla was scared to drive so Jenna had to take over, the girl was looking at her hands that were shaking violently, a tear rushes down her face.
"Lyla, we're going to be fine, you did amazing and when we come out to our friends, well mostly yours, but when we come out, they'll take it way better."
"B-But I let my mother get hurt, I... I tore my family apart." She stumbles over words trying to put them together in the puzzle of a sentence.
Jenna pulls over into a Walmart parking lot and shuts the car off, pulling the girl over a little.
"You know the back is more comfortable."
"Shut up, I'm trying to help."
"Ight, then help me therapist."
"We have the day off, tomorrow you'll have to go to Cleveland."
"Lemme clarify, the Cleveland show is on Saturday... huh that is tomorrow, shit."
"Yes but why don't we just return to our makeshift home and cuddle for the rest of the night, I know this is going to haunt you."
"Something more haunting is seeing you hurt so it isn't all that bad."
"But do you want cuddles or not?"
"Yes please."
"Then wait five minutes and you can have them." Lyla started to get giddy instead of angry and sad as she patiently waited for them to get home. Her hands no longer violently shook but came down to their normal moderate shakiness.
When they arrived it was like two normal people walking into a house, when they got inside however, it was still normal. You thought something bad was going to happen? Yeah no, that isn't going to happen... yet.
Both of them crawl into their shared bed and just lay there in each other's arms, talking softly about what happened in an attempt to bury it deep.
"I'm going to tell the story of it tomorrow."
"But you can't, we said we'd come out to your fans on your European tour."
"Right, then what stories should I tell instead?"
"Oh, you should tell them about the meets we used to have."
"The weekly drug session turned into anarchists?"
"Yep with Martin and Andy."
"Alright-" Lyla puts down one of the three fingers she's held up. "-what's next?" Jenna taps her chin for a bit before her eyes light up.
"How about the hoodie story?"
"The recent one or the old one?"
"What's the old one?"
"Basically it's where you asked for my jacket and I gave it to you."
"Then it's not a hoodie story."
"Fine, it won't go in."
"The older one?"
"Yep."
"So the new one's going in?" Jenna asks, propping her head up against Lyla's arm to look at her.
"Yeah, what's the last one?" She puts down another finger, only having her thumb stick out to the side.
"Guess whatever you want it to be."
"Maybe I can spin the story of when we went on our date but say it was a meet up."
"Nah, say it was a date, just don't say with who."
"Might be difficult but I'll see a way to use it."
"Okay, so now you have your three stories."
"And one amazing girlfriend." Lyla hugs the other under the warm covers, letting her cold hands touch Jenna's lower back which makes her shiver. "Sorry."
Jenna instead just shuts Lyla up for a minute with a small kiss, it wasn't long, maybe around three seconds long before she hides her head against the girl's chest.
A door opening wakes them both up, they must've fallen asleep after some time. Jenna gets under the covers more as Lyla shields her form.
"M-Mel, what do you n--" a long yawn interjects her words. "--need?"
"We're driving to Cleveland in a bit so get Jenna and pack up."
"Alright, we'll be out in a few."
"Uhm." With that she closes the door behind her.
"Jenna, we have to go."
"But I'm tired." The girl beside her whines, gripping onto the blankets.
"I know, I am too but we have to go."
"Fine." She huffs outs, getting up and picking some clothes out to wear.
"That looks pretty nice."
"Thanks, you should wear a hoodie since you don't need to be fancy."
"Oh how the turns tables." Jenna giggles before going to the bathroom to change. Lyla on the other hand just grabs a blue hoodie and some shorts with a white undershirt and starts to put them on. When she's done since it basically took almost ten seconds she sits in front of her suitcase on the floor, folding the now dirty clothing and putting them into a different compartment, finally zipping it up and lifting it up.
Jenna comes in a little later to see her beloved roll up the sleeves of her hoodie as she couldn't stand long sleeves. She comes up with the great idea, wrapping her arms around the girl from behind. Lyla pats her hand before whipping around, picking the girl up, smirking after.
"You suck"
"I doubt that."
"X for more doubt?"
"Hey now you're getting the references."
"It was a meme for years."
"Glorious years" they both chuckle before the girl is let down, able to pack the last of her things before they go downstairs.
Downstairs, The rest of the Canadians were ready to go, packed up and everything. They were, of course, leaving at a bizarre time as usual. Today's time was almost twelve in the morning, Cleveland was around four or six hours away so whatever time they needed they got.
"Hurry up you slowpokes." Amelia yells from the base of the stairs, the two come out a few minutes later, for the first time in forever.
"Jesus, you guys are slow." Alice mumbles, rolling her suitcase towards the door.
"Well it isn't my fault that I like to sleep." Jenna crosses her arms, leaning some of her weight against Lyla.
"Alright guys, enough bickering, let's go." Lyla picks up both her's and her girlfriend's luggage to head out the door to the car, everyone's a little on edge since no one should've woken the demon. That was the golden rule for taking care of the short child.
"You heard what she said, let's go." Jenna puts her shoes on and heads after the girl. The four look at each other before smirking.
"Let's give them the very back." Amelia suggests.
"Alright." The four of them go out and settle their things before saying their last remarks to the Americans in the house. Just as Amelia said, Jenna and Lyla resided in the very back of the car, cuddled up against each other and asleep.
"Don't do that Alice, Amelia, leave them be." It was now it was Mel's turn to be the mom with the comedian clocking out her shift. The two huff but stop messing with the two, returning to talk about something that all of them knew was stupid.
Lyla slowly opens her eyes to see Jenna's head on her shoulder, or at least leaned up against it. She wraps an arm around her and slowly goes back to sleep.
