Miyuki let the group of people into her room, one was dragging what seemed to be a cart full of dresses. Another carried a box, she guessed it was for makeup. “Uh- I don’t wear makeup.” She said looking down at the box and then the young man holding it. He smiled and said, “Jewelry, not makeup.” “Oh!” she smiled then nodded, letting the young fellow enter her room. There were four people in total, one for the dress, another for the jewelry, one for hair, and the last one for shoes. There were still a few hours before the ball, but Miyuki knew how long outfit preparations could take so she wasn’t complaining. The cart that had all the dressed was packed and took two people holding full piles to get to the start of it. “If it helps,” Miyuki chimed, “You could most certainly put the dresses on the bed.” “Thank you, my lady.” They said together. They went through dress after dress pairing it with shoe after shoe. She tried on a white ballgown with a gold lace and trim; it had a red shoulder netting that draped down her back. She tried to pair it with a red shoe, black shoe, white shoe, and gold shoe, but she finally decided it was the dress. “It’s white.” she said, “I’d stain it to easily and look like a dunce.” Next she tried on a sky-blue dress with darker blue lace wrapped around her waist and into a bow on her side. She liked it but couldn’t find a shoe that made her want to wear the dress. “This can be the dress I wear if I can’t find the one that I really want.” She said, the helpers nodded and giggled with the princess as she tried on dresses. She found a darker red dress with a gold design plaster all over it, she tried it on, but it seemed too big. There was a black one, but she didn’t dare try it on. “I’d look like I was going to a funeral. That’s not a very good impression.” She sighed, throwing the dress onto the pile of reject dresses on her bed. She went through the dresses like it was nothing, trying them on and throwing them on the pile. She was at the last couple of dresses when she saw a green trim underneath a big ballgown. She tried pulling gently because she didn’t want to rip the dress. She had the get someone to help her get it out from under the big dress because it was holding it down. When she held the dress in her hands, she was speechless; it was a beautiful green with a dark green lace and silver embordered designs going around the dress. Normally a green dress was seen as a lounge dress, and she’d never be able to wear it to a ball. This time though, there was something about the gown that made it much more elegant than a lounge dress. It was very colorful and professional for its shape. She slipped into it almost perfectly, it wasn’t too tight or too big. It was a slightly off the shoulders ballgown with many layers on the bottom half. She staired at herself in the mirror for a while before looking at the group that had been helping her, “Please, tell me we have a shoe to go with this.” The group got excited and searched around the collection of shoes looking for anything that might go with that dress. They held up an almost silver shoe that matched the silver design, but it wasn’t too silverish that it didn’t match with the rest. The young boy with the jewelry box spoke, “I think if we matched these with a nice silver necklace, or maybe a diamond one, it would look absolutely amazing, your Highness.” Miyuki tried the silver shoe on with the dress and the outfit felt and looked complete, she was in awe of how perfect it looked. “Instead of an extravagant necklace how about something more toned down but still fancy.” She said as she looked at the group through in the mirror. They picked out a silver chain that had a medium sized pendant on it that looked like a very detailed leaf. Earings that matched the necklaces shine but the dresses unique attributes. She sat down on the seat at the end of her bed in the entire outfit and admired it. One of the ladies came up to her and said, “My lady, it's getting closer to the announcements for the ball we should get your hair fixed.” She nodded to them and sat in the chair in front of the mirror, so the ladies could do their work. They gathered one side of her hair into a French braid and let it hang while they took the other side and created a bun of sorts. They then wrapped the braid around the bun to make it look like the peddles of a rose. She wondered how she would be announced, would they call her a princess? Though if they did that, she thought, that would lead a trail back here for Vanir and I don’t think he wants that. She guessed they might say she was a traveler exploring the lands or tell the crowd she was Vanir’s sister.
After all the makeup and hair styles, Miyuki stood before the group dressed and all. Her hair slightly framed her face with the strands hanging from the braid. Very light makeup because they said she didn’t need much of it, since she was impossibly beautiful. Some of the guests had already arrived, but in her palace, it was custom to arrive after the guest of the ball. This made her assume that Vanir would come later in the ball, so she’d have to hope Riki’s already there when she arrives. She didn’t know the type of people that would be at this ball, so she didn’t want to socialize with someone that she wasn’t supposed to. It was almost time for her to head to the ball, and the group that had helped her get ready held the door open to show her the way to the ballroom. They walked and chatted about what she might see, though none of them had been to a ball, so they couldn’t tell her much. They got up to the entrance door of the ball, which had two guards on both sides. The group had said their goodbyes and walked off down the halls waving at her as she stood in the middle of the hall staring at the double doors in front of her. She nodded at the guards to open the doors and she walked through them. There was no announcement of her arrival which startled her, she kept walking down the stairs though. The room seemed to be a beautiful gold that made the room look like something out of a fairytale. The floor shared a similar design to the walls and the roof had paintings of trees and rivers. There weren’t many people there, but there were a lot of animals. Deer, foxes, rabbits, birds, and so many more. Miyuki giggled at the unexpected crowd. Being that most of the guests were from the forest it was very easy to find her brother. As she made her way towards her brother, she noticed a lot of the animals staring at her, as well as the human guest and her brother. “Is there something on my face?” she asked her brother as she stepped up to him. He laughs as he says, “Do you not see yourself, Yuki?” She looks down at her dress and fluffs it out a bit. “I thought it was nice.” she says, “Nice? Yuki, you look like a goddess.” Miyuki laughs abruptly and quickly covers her mouth. “I look about as nice as everyone else here.” Riki looks up at her and smiles, “Even if most of the guest here are forest animals?” “Nature is the most beautiful. No one can compare to the forest animals.” The doors opened loudly, and a pack of wolves ran down the stairs. They all stop at the end of the staircase and slowly walk through the crowd which had parted for the group. The wolf that led the pack through the crowd had stopped right at Miyuki’s feet and leaned forward inviting her to pet it. It was a large wolf with a black coat and green eyes that leaned into her hand as she stretched it out. She slowly petted the wolf for fear of startling it. A few moments go by, and the doors open again, but this time there's an announcement. “Enter King Vanir of the Forest.” the announcer said. As Vanir walked through the doors in a ravishing green outfit with a gold cape thrown across his shoulders. He walks to the start of the staircase and pauses to look at everyone. He speaks calmly and briskly to everyone in the room, “I understand everyone wants to be formal, but it might be making the other guests uncomfortable.” Without having to give a direct command it seemed everyone in the room knew what he meant but Miyuki and Riki. Miyuki noticed that her hand that was placed on the wolf's head started to lift. She looked down to see sparkles of light shifting around the wolf as it grew taller and taller. Before Miyuki knew it, the wolf had completely transformed into a very handsome young man, she then noticed that her hand was still on his head but now it was stretched out upwards. She quickly moved her hand away as the man laughed at her shyness. Then, Riki grabbed her by the arm gently to push her behind him, “Hi I'm Riki.” he says obviously trying to get Miyuki away from him. Miyuki peaks around Riki to get a look at ‘the wolf man’ and she sees a generally young lad with black hair and moderately tan skin. The man has an unbothered look on his face, the face where the eyebrows are raised the eyes look helpless, but the lips are more than relaxed. He catches Miyuki looking at him and cocked his head like a dog would and smiles. Riki notices and tries to keep Miyuki away, but Vanir comes up to the group. “My king.” The man bowed down with his fist over his heart at Vanir’s presents. “I see you’ve met my siblings, lord Enzo.” Lord Enzo looks up surprised, “Your siblings?”
Enzo looks up at Riki and glances at Miyuki, “I had no idea you were serious when you said you had siblings. I thought it was one of your pitless jokes.” “Quite the humor, don’t you think.” Miyuki chanted walking up to her brother. “This is my younger sister, Miyuki,” he says putting his arm around her, “and that tall thing over there is my older brother, Riki.” Vanir pointed at Riki who held his fist up jokingly. “So, a younger sister and an older brother? Does that make you the middle child?” Vanir and Riki look at each other and laugh before Riki says, “Technically, we’re both the middle children. We are triplets with an older brother named Cato.” “Fraternal Triplets, if you couldn’t tell.” Miyuki smiled at Lord Enzo. “So,” he started slowly, pondering over something seriously, “Miyuki, meaning everything beautiful. Riki, meaning absolute strength. Vanir,” He slightly bows his head in his king’s direction, “being the name of a magical wizard, and Cato meaning all knowing.” Miyuki gets nervous, what if he suspects something of my triplet brothers? She couldn’t let anyone stop them now. “How strange that all your names seem to fit you perfectly. You must have had extraordinary parents.” Miyuki glances at both her brothers who are strangely smiling. “Our parents are a real treat.” Vanir says, “But, your parents must have known your future to name you Enzo.” “Strong leader.” Miyuki says placing a hand on Vanir’s shoulder. Lord Enzo nods in her direction and starts to look around the room, “Your whole family seems to stand out, but I can’t seem to find your older brother. Cato, was it?" They all laughed as his punch of a joke. “Unfortunately, he wasn't able to make it. Though, I don’t think he’s ever been a fan of the forest. As for these two, nothing but chance brought them here.” Miyuki and Riki smiled at their brother, “None the less, we’re happy to be here.” Riki said extending his arm towards Enzo. Enzo took his hand and shook it for a gentlemanly welcome. Vanir glanced around the room to see who had come to the ball. “If you’ll excuse me, my kingly duties await.” Vanir gave Miyuki a short hug before he started his journey around the ballroom. Riki saw some sweets at the buffet table and looked disappointed. “You don’t have to follow me here, eat your heart out big brother.” Riki seemed to beam up at his sister's words and walked quite fast to the buffet to indulge in every type of food there was. Left there, Enzo and Miyuki stood there silently. Miyuki was watching her brothers and didn’t even know she was smiling until Enzo started laughing. “What do you find so funny?” She asked a little embarrassed that she was being watched. Enzo finishing up his laughter said “You, hah! You seemed to find joy in seeing your brothers having fun.” She looks at her hands then looks up to find Vanir in the crowd, “They deserve to have a little fun, and I'm just happy that I'm here to help them with that.” The music playing is more of an entry song for the guests arriving late, but after that slow, melodic ballroom music begins to play and people start to head to the center of the room to dance. Enzo looks at Miyuki, who's still watching her brothers, and lightly taps her on the shoulder. “I feel like you should have some fun too. Besides, you’d be able to see them better from the dance floor.” He holds out his hand inviting her to dance with him. “You drive a hard bargain, Lord Enzo.” she smiles taking his hand as he leads her to the dance floor. She hoped the dancing of the forest had similarity to her kingdom. She followed his movements as best she could, luckily it wasn’t that much different from the dancing in her kingdom. She must have had a serious look on her face because Enzo lifted her face to look at him and said, “Are you okay, Princess?” Miyuki looked back at him, surprised. “Princess?” she asked with a nervous expression, “You are a princess, aren’t you? Being his majesty’s sister and all.” Miyuki relaxed and laughed at her worries, “I am no princess, Lord Enzo. My brother and I happened to meet yesterday, and I was invited to this ravishing event. So, please, just call me Yuki.” Lord Enzo smiled, and she guessed it was because she let him call her by her nickname. They continued to dance, and Enzo pointed out the people that were annoying or obnoxious, making Miyuki laugh. The music stopped, and Lord Enzo led her back to Riki, who was glaring at Enzo. “It’s fine, brother.” She said, facing him and standing diagonally from him. She placed a hand on his chest to show she was fine, and he backed off. Enzo smiled gently at Miyuki who gave a heartwarming smile back. Riki pushed them apart and seperated them with himself. Miyuki and Enzo laugh, and soon Riki joins in on their laughter. Just then there were screams coming from the other end of the ballroom. Miyuki swung around, that’s the corner that Vanir was speaking to a group of people. She ran towards the crowd, but a man stopped her and pushed her back right as she got to him. She fell to the ground and the man yelled at her, “You keep your hands off the king, low life.” Immediately there was a flash of red coming from Vanir. As Lord Enzo helped Miyuki up, Vanir rose and faced the man who just spoke, “What. Did. You. Just. Say.” he said and when the man didn’t answer he spoke again, “I want to hear what you just said to my baby sister.” The crowd gasped and the man instantly fell to the ground. Riki who was behind Miyuki, walked to stand next to Vanir, they both had the same look on their face.
