I don't really remember what happened during the "Black Out". All I know is lots of missiles destroyed the asteroid, but all the chemicals used to make the missiles rained down on the animals and plants. Affecting their DNA; changing it. Grandpa and I had to live in the bunker for about three weeks. We had enough food and water, but all I was thinking about was my Mom and Katy. Then it was time to open the hatch door. I stepped out and took a huge breath of air, but I immediately regretted it because small pieces of debris got in my system.
"We need to get out of here." I said. I ran the only way I wanted to go, Mom. I eventually got there, but she died. She look okay on one side, I flipped her over and her her body red and disigrated. I cryed lots of tears. Grandpa put his warm hand on me.
"Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them. George Eliot." Grandpa quotes. I wipe my eyes. I start digging with hands, until the hole was big enough. I pushed her in, and put the dirt back. After an half an hour of more tears, my hands glow a strange pink.
14-year old Ben has found that ever since the 89% of the Earth's population disappeared, strange things have been happening, things he can't explain. What's even more concerning is that his grandfather is weakening. Is he the only one with the power to save them?
