Well, it was pretty late. Everyone was asleep, I think. Not a surprise I wasn't, Toby did give us some sweet rooms to crash in, but ehh, I just didn't wanna sleep. 

Tomorrow morning was the day we would all start the mission. This entire thing working though, it was a stretch. 

“You should really rest your eyes, you know”. 

It was Harry, he was standing by the door of my room. This guy looked so damn calm, maybe a bit too much for his own good. 

“Don't worry Harry, I did rest my eyes. Couldn't sleep, but I did rest my eyes”. 

Harry burst out laughing, “you know the difference! Thank god man”. 

Alright, that got me. I couldn't hold it in, I spat out cackling as well, I needed that. Felt good to chill from time to time. 

“Harry, you really aren't worried for tomorrow?”. 

He took a deep breath before looking at me, he was about to say something big for sure. 

“Leo, you don't get it, I don't really think I'm gonna make it, more than a good chance I die on this mission eventually you know. Thing is, it doesn't matter, If I die, someone else lives right? I'm not a coward, not like Emma. All this, it's probably gonna kill me soon anyway, but this way, I go out with a bang”. 

I stared at him hard, damn. The way Harry was thinking of this, and the way I was thinking of this, it was different. 

“You guys aren't asleep, I knew it” Jason said as he came in. 

The trio was all here, “Nah but we did rest our eyes, don't worry” I replied. 

Jason chuckled, “That makes sense”. 

“By the way, Jason, how you doing? You look better than before” Harry asked. 

Wow, Harry was actually softening up now!

But Jason looked worried? He went from calm to sweaty in seconds, “uh… Toby, he helped a bit. Turns out he has some meds to slow down the process, temporary but still”. 

Harry nodded, “that's good”. 

“You know, it's New Year's eve, crazy huh,” Jason said. 

He was changing the topic, but whatever. “Yea, fireworks are probably gonna be covered tomorrow”. 

I didn't know why I said that, it felt misplaced after hearing it out loud. 

“Well, guess that means it's been around a year since this all started huh. Happy anniversary” Harry whispered. 

He was almost smiling while he said that, welp, happy anniversary indeed. 

Harry cleared his throat to hint he was about to say something, “Well, imma head out now, I wanna rest my eyes some more”. 

I nodded, Jason waved at me and followed Harry out the room. Resting my eyes, guess I had to do it as well. Tomorrow was going to be a heck of a day, at least it was a fresh start, maybe it was finally time for...The beginning of the end.
