“Riiiiingh,” A large, mutated zebra ran rampant in the street that the duo had
entered not even half an hour after embarking on their journey, the colours of
its skin had gone from the peaceful black and white contrast to an awful blood
red with black patterns covering it. Sai had shot the zebra in its side,
causing its black eyes to lock onto him and make a B-line toward him, a long
black horn resembling a unicorn’s readied to pierce him.
“Go!” Sai yelled out, prompting Meghan whose roots of her hair had turned to a
shade of lighter brown, to charge forward. She was placed to the side, hiding
behind a car so that when it reached a scaringly close distance to Sai she
could charge at it. Which she had just done. “Haaah!” Meghan let out her own
not so loud variant of a war cry as her dagger pierced the lower stomach of the
zebra causing it to let out a demonic screech. ‘Grose!’ Meghan thought as blood
as black as the buffalos shot out from the stab wound and splotched her hands,
wrists, shirt, and face. In response to this the Zebra let out a devilish
screech slowing down.
“Ngh!” Meghan let out a grunt, what she had not anticipated was being dragged
along with the zebra. Luckily for her, her dagger didn’t remain in the zebra’s side,
and she slowed down to a halt. “Meghan move!” Sai had readied an arrow and was
aiming at the Zebra that was now not even two meters away from him, standing
completely still. “On it!” Meghan responded, not taking even a moment to take
in what had just happened and ran towards a nearby car. The zebra in the
meantime turned around slowly, moving its head just as Sai released the arrow,
causing it to fly right past it. “Meghan run!” Sai yelled as the zebra turned
to face her while Sai frantically grabbed at an arrow in his quiver.
“Riingh!” The zebra made a break for it, running directly at Meghan who had
climbed onto the bonnet of a car. ‘It’s moving slower,’ Meghan eyed the zebra
which was moving at probably a quarter of its previous speed, the injury to its
stomach having slowed it down. ‘I can finish this!’ She thought to herself
while readying her dagger. ‘Lunar coated blade,” Meghan cringed for a split
second due to the name. It wasn’t her best, and hopefully would remain to be
her worst…
The blade of the woman’s dagger gained the same coat of lunar energy as before,
her blue eyes once again glowing silver with the not so familiar screen popping
up again.

Climbing onto the roof of the car carefully. Meghan planted her feet into the
metal, gripping her glowing blade tightly as the zebra approached the car.
“Riiiiiiiiiiiiiingh!” The zebra let out another demonic screech as it reached
the car, its horn piercing the back door causing Meghan to loose balance and
fall forward. Luckily for her, due to the angle of her blade, when she fell
forward and off the roof of the car, her blade hit and pierced the spine of the
zebra. Doing the last bit of damage needed to kill it before she finished her
tumble, hitting her lower back on the ground. ‘Ouch,” She thought as a new
window popped up in front of her.

Meghan sat up rubbing her back, Sai once again came running stricken with worry.
“Are you a-“ Sai had begun to ask a question, but Meghan raised her right hand
with a finger in the air. Signalling him to stop. ‘Why are there so many
notifications?’ Meghan looked up at the screens and just sighed when she saw
that her kitsune skill had gotten progressed. “I’m alright Sai, it was just a
small fall,” Meghan new he was going to object that she could have died, but
she didn’t want him to feel guilty.
“But-“ Sai was not acting like himself and looked like he could cry. “Stop
being a child, you messed up, but it was my fault for standing still after
coming to a halt, so I messed up too,” Meghan said in a firm tone as she rose
from the ground, reaching for the middle of the zebra’s spine where her dagger
had been implanted.
“Alright,” Sai lowered his head for a bit, he could tell that Meghan was trying
her hardest to act strong and ignore the kitsune skill. In fact he wasn’t even
sure she knew what a kitsune was. “Why are you staring at me?” Meghan’s voice
caught Sai’s attention, without realising it he had started staring at her
while she cleaned her face and dagger after pulling it out of the carcass of
the zebra. “I- Sorry,” Sai didn’t know what to say, blushing in embarrassment.
“It’s fine,” Meghan smiled, letting out a chuckle which made Sai feel warm
inside, like he had done something to help relieve her. Which he had in fact done.
“Let’s continue, we don’t know if Kelly and Michael will try to leave and find
us, or if they already have,” Sai spoke, regaining his temporarily lost confidence
in himself. “Alright,” Meghan sheathed her knife in a makeshift sheath, which
was her pocket that was luckily big enough to hold the blade. Once the both of
them had begun walking again, the duo found that they suddenly lacked the
ability to move.

“What-“ Meghan’s blue eyes glanced over the words and suddenly they darted from
side to side. “Riiiingh!” The demonic screech of yet another zebra caught her
attention for a brief moment before she saw it. A zebra slightly bigger than
the last one running right at her.
“Meghan move!” Sai also couldn’t move; his eyes were filled with worry. With
his head facing Meghan so he could see her clearly, and due to the colour
draining from her face. He could tell that the zebra was running towards them,
“I can’t-“ Meghan yelled, but her sentence was cut just short of it’s
conclusion as the zebra’s horn pierced her gut and a wave of scream worthy pain
shot through her body, in response to the pain, the woman did in fact scream,
“shit!” It hurt so much, and all she could do was get pushed along by the
mutated zebra.

‘Dammit!’ Meghan’s eyes widened as the screen popped up, aside from the extreme
pain which now felt numbing, she could feel her warm blood flowing along her
shirt and even pants staining them.

Meghan gained a glint of hope as she regained her rotary functions, quickly
grabbing at her dagger she raised it into the air, blade facing towards the
skull of the zebra and brought it down, causing black blood to spew all over
her arms, face and upper chest yet again, “riiiiingh!” The zebra let out
another screech which hurt Meghan’s ears, ‘how is it not dead!?’ Meghan thought
frantically,

Pulling the blade out of the zebra’s skull, Meghan found herself splashed with
spewing blood, but she didn’t let it stop her. Closing her eyes she brough the
dagger down a second time, this time stabbing the zebra right at the base of
its horn, not only disconnecting the horn from the zebra’s skull but finally
killing it.

“Shit!” Meghan felt her wound attempting to close in on the horn as her body
repaired itself after levelling up, “Huup!” She let out a yelp gripping onto
the horn, pulling it out of her side, which made the pain even worse. “Ouch!”
The taste of her own tears made her realise that the pain had caused her to
finally brake, the zebra’s body would have crushed her legs, but the level up
had stopped her from taking any damage from it, “Meghan!” Sai finally regained
his rotary functions and began to run to Meghan.
“Sai! Help!” She didn’t want this to happen anymore. The pain from what was a
massive stab wound in her side had begun to subside, but her body felt weird. Her
ears, eyes and throat hurt. She could feel her bones clicking, and even felt
blood coming from the inside of her ears. Two massive points of pain came from
the top sides of her head. She had no idea what was going on, her pelvis was
clicking rapidly, with what felt like a growing pain coming from her lower
back, right above her backside.
“I’m coming!” Sai yelled out in response. Sliding on the floor he came to a
halt after reaching Meghan. “What’s wrong!? What do you want me to do!?” Sai
was in panic mode. “J- just get this thing off me!” Meghan couldn’t help but
yell, she had never felt this weird. Her skin had begun to feel like it was crawling,
and it felt like her whole body was changing in some way. “Alright!” Sai’s not
so calm voice didn’t help either, but Meghan couldn’t spare a thought to blame
or get upset with him.
Latching onto the head of the zebra, Sai with all of his might lifted it up. “G-
Get out of the way!” Sai commanded in-between grunts, Meghan in a rush did as
he had told her to just in time for him to drop it. “Nnngh,” Meghan let out a
yelp as she moved her body, turning it so that she could lie against the zebra
right after Sai dropped it. “W- What do you need?” Sai asked, getting down onto
his knees. He didn’t know how much experience she had gotten from that zebra
nor was that detail on his mind, but he had deduced that her Kitsune skill had
most likely progressed. Her hair had turned white at its roots and about half
of each hair strand had turned into a pure shade of white with strands of hair
falling off her head in two patches where the bumps had formed.
“Just let me squeeze your hand please!” Meghan made eye contact with Sai.
“Alright, here,” Sai held out his left hand which Meghan took and instantly he
noticed something, ‘her skin feels smoother,’ the thought of how smooth her
skin felt came to a close as soon as she began to squish. “Just squeeze as
tightly as you need to,” Sai forced a smile to reassure Meghan, and she nodded,
squeezing his hand as tight as she could. “Th- thanks,” Meghan felt the pain from
her wound completely fade away.
Sai wanted to say something for support, but he couldn’t find the words as he
stared on at his friend suffering. Somehow despite the state she was in, she
looked more attractive, but the pure agony he saw in her eyes didn’t let his
thoughts wander there for even a second. He didn’t know what to say, but he
wanted to say something badly. “Everything is going to be alright,” finally,
the words came out of his mouth, reassuring words that seemed to help Meghan.
“Just breath slowly…” He continued, wincing when Meghan suddenly tightened her
grip, “just give it some time,” Meghan nodded closing her eyes. Sai’s words
were helping her, and she was grateful for them.
“Th- Thank you,” Meghan whispered under her breath, her forehead was covered in
sweat. Some parts of her hair, shirt and even her pants were wet due to sweat. “Are
you feeling better?” Sai asked as Meghan’s breathing slowed down and her
expression softened. “No problem, can you walk?” Sai asked, “g- give me a second,”
Megan replied, she just wanted to take a second to rest, but she couldn’t blame
Sai for asking, she knew that he knew that she wanted to see her friend badly.
“I’m ready,” Meghan took one more deep breath before speaking, reaching her
hand out for Michael to pull her up, which he did. “Thanks,” Meghan forced a
smile.
