Zagiilios Chronicles: Tale of the Dragon God

First Impressions

First Impressions

Jan 08, 2022

Starting school again it was not always something I wanted to think about in this new life especially starting kindergarten again. A part of me had a childish mind partially due to the fact that I was physically a child again. The other part was the part of me subconsciously that always wanted this kind of childhood, but the one thing I never liked about being a kid was dealing with other snot-nosed brats. However as I stand now outside of the gates to the school and watch them open for me and Akira has the two of us walk inside; I can't help but hope that things would be different.

Akira can obviously tell that I'm not really in the mood for school so he elbows me as we walk to catch my attention. He tries to cheer me up, "Hey smile Tatsu. This is the first day of school and we get to me some of the other kids for the first time." Of course that doesn't make me smile and I just look at him like I wish I could be somewhere else right now. But I do hope that the two of us will feast have a good time. Besides kindergarten is mostly spent sleeping anyway and learning basic ABCs and shit. Most of that shit I already know. I can already read and write both Dragon's Tongue and Universal especially considering the fact Universal is written in English. But then again I can't complain because I am essentially cheating with all of my past life's knowledge and the memories.

Entering into our classroom of which there are only 4 classrooms in this entire school mainly because of how small the population in town is and how few children actually live here. One room is for kindergarteners, one room is for primary schoolers, one is for middle schoolers, and one is for high schoolers. Nonetheless as we enter in it has the basic kindergarten looks that I was expecting and all of the ABCs that usually kindergarten classrooms have are written in three different languages. One is Dragon's Tongue, one is Universal, and the other is the language of Demon Speak. No surprise with the last one having the majority of the population be part demon. I'm immediately distracted by my teacher so if I were still a grown man and not trapped inside of this toddler body I might actually try and flirt with because she's kind of cute.

Her name is Ms. Fuku and she is a bright pink Namoshi woman with an average build. She's currently wearing a bright yellow dress with white accents that matches the color of her eyes. She is wearing white shoes with yellow ribbons on them and she is adorned with silver and gold and jewelry for accessories. She's actually got one of the most cute faces that I've seen so far. Tis a shame to be stuck in the body of a toddler.

When she sees me and Akira enter into the classroom she immediately recognizes him has the mayor's son. But when she sees me she gets a little startled. Most likely because she hasn't met me before since I'm a half-breed and she appears to be new to town enough for the two of us to have not met yet considering I've met most of the people in town thanks to going around with my parents and just saying hello to the general townspeople.

To try and get her to not be so noticeably shocked to see me I wave and smile to try and calm her nerves. When she realizes that she's just staring she adjusts her expression and pretends that she wasn't just startled by me. She instead chooses to smile and wave back knowing that it would most likely be very unprofessional not to and would be a sign of weakness at the worse. As I go to take my seat I sit next to Akira and that's when the other kids our age enter into the class.

First is Yorichi, a Zahelios boy who's dad runs the general store in town. Then is Gokaze, another Zahelios boy who is the son of town doctor. Next was Lunora, a Mamuu girl who was the daughter of the town blacksmiths. Last was Milanka, who was Lunora's twin sister.

Lunora and Milanka were the first two real life Mamuu that I had ever seen. Mamuu in the simplest way of describing them are half Minotaur and half Satyr. They stand at about 7 to 9 ft tall on average by the time they're adults and they're usually big and beefy or big and thick. They look a lot more human in the face for the women and for the men they look a lot more bovine in the face. They either usually have horns like that of traditional cows or horns like deer or goats even. They all have hoofed feet that are similar to their satyr ancestors and cow tails with thick fur along their legs and forearms. Surprisingly though they're primarily omnivores instead of vegetarians.

These two girls looked almost the exact same as they had pale yellow skin with blond hair and fur. How they were told a part was by hairstyle and eye color. Lunora had long hair that was currently free flowing and curly with blue eyes. Milanka had short hair that came down to her shoulder that was a lot more straight and professional with how well it was taken care of and her eyes were green.

Yorichi was the first green skin Zahelios I saw and his short black mohawk and green eyes made him stand out. Gokaze with blue skinned with white eyes and curly white hair that reach down to his shoulders. He is also pretty chubby for his age which was even weirder when you realize his dad was the town doctor and his son already had a weight issue at such a young age.

The other kids knew me as we had all met before around town throughout the decades. Especially when we would be with our parents most of the time we ran into each other. Unlike our teacher they all knew who I was and weren't surprised by how I looked anymore. But I don't blame anyone for being shocked by my appearance especially with me being a Half Blood. Especially one of my kind of mixture it's so very rare in this world and I think in recorded history there's only ever been 8 others.

My skin is red with golden scales accenting most of my features. My horns aren't that big yet but I feel as if they will be similar to the horns that my father has or at least to his larger set of horns primarily. My hair is long and white and currently French braided reaching just passed my shoulder blades almost half way down my spine. My hair is mostly curly but some days it straightens up a bit if especially if I've kept it combed and brushed throughout the week. I have wings like my mother but mine are not partially on fire however my feathers are solid gold in look but they feel like normal feathers do. My tail is long like my fathers, but unlike his I have feathers as well as scales on mine. The feathers are primarily located towards the very end of my tail all the way to the tip and they are golden just like my wings however they each have a noticeable red eye symbol on them which I often joke about reminding me are the peacock in a way without the feathers being same as that of a peacock. My eyes are solid white and when I try to use magic they begin to glow and resemble more like tiny white dwarf stars where my eyes should be. There's also my halo which I can turn on and off at will making it disappear when I don't need it. Whereas my mother's looks like a ring of fire mine is this shape that resembles a symbol of the sun. It is made of fire just like my mother's and it ripples like true fire does but every time I touch it it does not burn and I've tried using it to burn things unsuccessfully.

It was the first day of class and I was just ready to see what we would be learning. Ms. Fuku look down it a sheet of paper which from what I was guessing most likely was her lesson plan as she seemed to be rather new to teaching kids our age. However she began writing on the dry erase marker chalkboard and it just as I predicted she was teaching us the basics of how to read and write.

I obviously looked bored knowing all of this anyway and Akira just elbowed me again and I pretended to be interested for his sake. When the teacher gets around to passing out practice sheets not only do I finish them in 5 minutes but I even write her a note in all three languages saying the same thing. 'Can I please get something else to do?' When she takes the practice sheets to see how we all did and notices my notes she seems a bit surprised and then I remember that I'm still a toddler by everyone standards. As she sneaks a peek at me while pretending to be looking at our work on the practice sheets I can tell that she's either very concerned or very confused how I seem to have a grasp on these three languages already.

While we wait for our next assignment I just start using the little bit of magic my mother had taught me thus far when it concerns the first spell a fire magic known as Minor Pyro Manipulation. Most other kids don't learn their first spell until around the time that they're 80 here, but that's mostly due to the fact that they have the minds of the children that they are however my mind to have a grown man stuck in a child's body and all of these extra years of my life or just a bit more time to learn things at a much easier pace than before. So far my knowledge of spells consist of Minor Pyro Manipulation, Minor Electro Manipulation, and Minor Geo Manipulation. Currently I'm trying to also learn Minor Aero Manipulation and Minor Hydro Manipulation from Mr. Wang and Mrs. Wavedancer whenever I go to the shop with mother.

Using the spell I make a small bird out of fire and I begin making it fly around in a circle above the palm of my hand. This catches the attention of the other kids who look at it with a variety of emotions. I can see at least one of them is jealous, and two of them are in awe, and the rest are confused how I'm doing it.

Yorichi curiously asks me, "Hey how are you doing that?" Right now the only language he knows is Dragon's Tongue which is the language he speaks with even though he can't really read it that well yet. However as I make the flaming bird fly it over to him and flap around in a circle over his head for a moment I do answer his question, "Magic." Then I make the flaming bird fly back over to me and land on my finger.

At that moment Ms. Fuku looked at me again hearing me say that I was using magic and seemed astonished that I was using a spell at my age. She can post yourself quickly when she realized her mouth was slowly getting farther open as her draw was dropping harder than she could realistically reasonably react to something that was unusual like this. She then politely requested, "Mr. Starcrown could you please not use magic in this room?"

Trying to not cause problems I immediately made the spell end and the tiny flaming bird disappeared. She seemed impressed but also very confused and she decided to step out for a moment. During this time I pulled out my grimoire that mother had made for me seeing as I was very interested in learning the entire school of Elemancy magic first before I turn 200. She certainly thought it was an ambitious goal but seeing how I was able to progress in 25 years of practice and study she thinks I might be able to come close to pulling it off by that time.

Yorichi decided to speak up again trying to continue the conversation he was hoping to have before the teacher interrupted it, "Now that she left can you tell me how you were actually doing that?" I rolled my eyes and replied, "I told you. It was magic."

"I know you said that, but how do you make it work," he questioned. He was curious and he wanted to know. Soon I noticed that they all did, even Akira.

I closed my grimoire even though I just opened it and I explained to them, "First you need to focus your mind. You need to be able to feel the magic that already is inside of in the form of mana. While it is in that form it can be shaped however he wanted to and then you need to actually start focusing on how you want to use it and draw it out. A good chunk of magic relies on your own ability to use your head and to force the magic in you to make what do you think of into reality," I make a small ball of fire in my hand, "First I feel the magic inside me and then I think that I want to make fire in my hands. And then I forced the magic that I can feel inside me to come out and take shape in the form of the fire that I'm hoping for. From there I just need to keep drawing the magic out and it keeps the flame going. I can even shape it from there like I did before to make it a bird or whatever it is that I can imagine. But all spells have limits and they all require a certain amount of mana which is the main limit. If you have more mana you can use spells more often and often times you can change how they work or make new ones to fit what you want to do with your magic with time and practice."

They seem to have been able to follow along with what I said for the most part; even if they don't understand how some of it works because they haven't done it themselves yet. It would seem like I inspired them to give it a try though as unintentional as that was. Only time will tell how well they actually put what I said into practice. I opened back up my grimoire and I start reading.

I don't get that far into reading it before I'm interrupted again by our teacher returning this time with the principal and my dad. I close my grimoire worried I might be in trouble. However my father clears that up really quickly as he comes and pats me on the head laughing and proudly professing, "Not even the first day and you already are showing all how talented you are. At least give the other kids a chance. I thought you would have waited a week before showing off that big brain of yours."

The principal came over and spoke giving some clarification on the situation, "Ms. Fuku came to my office and told me that one of her students was a genius. Already able to read and write in three separate languages and was even seen using magic despite the fact he was only 50. When she gave me your name I called your parents your father came right over. He explained that you've been studying magic for 25 years now and you've been able to speak, read, and write and at least two languages since you were barely 20. I found it a little hard to believe all of this until I overheard what you said to the other students about your magic and how do you use it. No normal child knows how to use magic so well. Your father and I discussed the possibility of you joining the upperclassmen since you seem to be on same reading and magic comprehension as those of one class to tier higher than yourself. He told me that he would only allow it if you agreed to it. So what do you say young master Starcrown?"
