Leandre pov

We were Sunday and soon the holydays would be over. The class were starting again on Tuesday. It was 2 pm and Phaenna’s birthday was starting at her aunt’s house at 6 pm.

I was wrapping my gift, the plushie keychain, from a videogame called, I believe, Solace while listening to a music playlist Remini shared with me because he thought I would like it. It's true that some of the song were really to my tastes.

I was putting a sticker on the gift when when I heard keys on the door. I knew it was my dad, not because we were the only two persons to live here but because of his way of opening the door. I got up to say hello letting my music and my gift alone.

“Hello, did you finish your work ?” I ask him, he wasn’t usually home that early, even if some things could be done at home he usually worked in his office and got home quite late.

“Oh I wish” he responds while getting ride of his shoes, he put them next to mine at the entrance before going to wash his hands.

“I just came to get a file, Elsa and Romeo had the wise idea of putting the work in the mailbox we never open without telling me, instead of sending me an email” he sighs before adding “So I needed to come back to get it and read it- while eating my lunch at the same time, which should already have been the case because my lunch break was at 12pm but work happens. And incompentence”

“I made some rice earlier, wanna eat it?” I ask my dad.

“Gladly, thanks Leandre”

I went to th kitchen to serve him a plate of plain rice and I took myself a lemoade from the fridge, when I arrive at the table, my dad was already with his file opened, going rapidly through the different pages.

I sit myself in front of him, gave him his plate and uncapped my lemonade.

"So what's the file about ?" I ask my dad, I doubt it was the first time he didn't read a file before a reunion but he didn't usually hurry himself up to do it.

At first he hummed without responding me, then seems to realise I spoke to him and brain my question "Ah! sorry, this is about interpacks' accords. We are making a new chart for all of our alliances. With laws' modification, new laws. And some deleting too"

"Why're you changing it?"

"To facilitate the new alliances, but it's difficult to get everyone to agree on one idea"

"So it's mostly about territories?" I knew werewolves were never really happy to share or give a part of their territories.

My dad frows his brows, like if thing about delimiting territories was giving him a headache "There is that, but not only. It's also about the communication, the matings, the works between differnts packs. Who's going to hold which event, who's allowed to participate in them. And lots of others things"

That first made me think of Remini, or more of how I am pretty sure he would hate a lot of things that are decided there. And then I thought about his dinner with Justice, I didn't have news.

I wanted to ask my dad how the dinner went "The din-" but he intrrupted me "Oh shit!" he gathered his paper and closed the file "Sorry, I need to go now, let's speak tonight"

"Oh ok bye" I respond. My poor dad was always working, I didn't thing I would survive a life like that.

I took my phone out to text Remini, to see he had already sent me a message 'Hello Lee, sorry about last time with Virgile (I know you were a bit angry at first), I just wanted to try to get you closer, to speak because I am sure you could be really compatible!'

I smile, I wasn't angry at him 'It alright, but don't try playing the matchmaker once again. and I wasn't angry you're just annoying. Btw how the dinner with Justice went?'

'The dinner in itself wasn't that great but in the end ecerything is fine bc I made myself clear to Justice, I don't have to see his (asshole) father once or anyone frome his family. I will tell you abt it later' he texts m

He adds a second text 'Glad you're not angry ;)'

I really wasn't angry at him, I was just sad. It was plain obvious to me Virgile's heart was already taken.

'Ok and don't wrry, let's go together at Phaenna's birthday. Meet me at my house at 5pm?'

Life is already hard enough for a classic 17-year-old teenager, but when you add werewolves, unrealistic expectations, pressure, constant disappointment and blatant discrimination, it only worsens.

As an omega, Remini's life goal is all set: before he's even twenty he will find a pretty higher rank, mate with him, have his babies and raise them.

Then he will be happy. At least, that's what everyone tells him.

But to him, it does sound very far from his happiness.

Even though, Remini tries to make his life alright by relying on his family's and friends' support and love, but for how long can it last?

Follow Remini, a cheerful but mouthy omega in his journey!
