After getting ready and having a quick breakfast, Grace and I sat silently in the back of the car on our way to the University. It was as usual, an awkward situation as she never looked up from her phone unless it was to abuse the driver cause of a bump in the road. My phone turns on with a notification from the last person I want to talk to right now, "CEO of ruining my life" also known as, my Dad.
"Don't be stupid, do your work, participate in class, and do not make me look bad."
"Thanks dickface" I mumble under my breath.
The school is big and exquisite with heaps of students gathered on the front lawn with full uniforms on. The weather is hot, and I didn't even bring my blazer. As the car drove through the gate people stopped to stare at us. Some girls started squealing and jumping around, some boys turn to each other and whisper. Grace walked around acting as a completely different person with a wide smile on her face waving seductively at some of the boys, if I am completely honest they weren't that bad looking either, although they gave off a 'one-night-stand' vibe.
The groups of people stand and stare as Grace grabs onto my arm, we enter through the front doors and are greeted by the principle.
"Good morning Mr. Hayes, Miss. Albrecht. I am the Principle of this school, Mrs. Albrecht, and am honored to have you here." She spoke very formally.
"Thank you, we are pleased to be attending. how are you Aunt?" Grace spoke with a very friendly tone.
"I have been quiet well, and my goodness dear, you have grown up so much. You look gorgeous. And you have found yourself a very handsome young man." She said as she put her hand on Grace's shoulder and looked at me.
"Hi. I'm Luke. Nice to meet you." I said awkwardly. I could feel Grace Squeeze my arm really hard as she flicked me a quick disappointing glance.
"You are very handsome young man, you have made the right choice choosing to be with my dear niece Grace. She is a very loving caring young lady." She spoke softly shaking softly on Grace's shoulder.
Mrs. Albrecht took us around the school showing us the classrooms, and recreational areas. It was one of the most boring experiences of my life. Grace spoke the whole time about how lovely it was living with me and how much she apparently 'loved me', biggest amount of bullshit I've ever heard.
As we approach the Visual art classroom there is someone who stood out from all the other people I've seen today, a boy. He sat alone near a window with an easel stood in front of him. He gazed at it up and down before adding another stroke of paint to the canvas.
"This is our visual arts classroom, ah yes. Mr. Hayes, Miss. Albrecht, this is Mr. Kingstone. He is one of our top visual arts students, his artworks have been displayed in some of the largest galleries in the world." Mrs. Albrecht stated in a very formal tone, gesturing towards the young man.
"Its a pleasure to meet you, I'm Myles." He says. His voice echoed in my head like a catchy song that I love listening to. I wanted to hear it again but before I could introduce myself grace was already leaning forwards with a flirtatious look on her face.
"Its so great to meet you, I'm Grace and this..." She paused for a moment which stunned me.
"This is my boyfriend, Luke." She sounded so disappointed, she probably had a plan to try sleep with him but had to say she was with me, what a bitch.
Before we knew it Mrs. Albrecht was sweeping us out the door to show us to our dorm rooms. I was shown to mine and then Grace and her aunt walked along the corridors to the girls dormitories. I sat on the fresh linen sheets and heaved a big sigh, from tomorrow onwards I was going to be living here for the rest of the semester. What a nightmare.
