It feels like we've been running for hours, yet it had only been a couple minutes. Myles and I had made it to the dining hall in a record breaking 3 minutes, definitely a new world record.
"Crap there better be some decent food left". I chirped up as we approached the doors to the hall. He stopped before he reached the handle, he stood there for a moment then clicked the big door open. It was horrifying. The amount of weird and questioning glares we got, really spooked me, but it took me a while to notice it was Myles, they were looking at not me. He pulled his hood up so you couldn't see him very well and made his way around the walls of the dining hall to the food bar.
"Kingstone, Hayes! Here NOW!" echoed across the dining hall and at the door to the left swung open with a little, angry old man standing looking out of breath. It was clear to Myles I was Horrified as to why this little man just screamed our names over a whole hall of people when he could've just walked to us, his little legs would've given out. Myles looked to me and gave me an assuring nod.
"Don't say anything, Lemme handle it". He lightly touched my hand as to signal me to follow, I couldn't argue because he was already moving towards the stubby man in the doorway leaning on it still trying to catch his breath.
"Old man Stout, how was your break? Thought you would've died by now". Myles spoke confidently considering this man may be short, but his raging glare was enough to clear the Amazon Rainforest at the least.
"Who you callin' old man!? I'm still in my eighties!" Mr. Stout shouted once more. His angry face switched between Myles and me. He was a very scary little man, probably stood at 5'3. He slowly let his gaze fall onto Myles wearing an apathetic expression. Mr. Stout let out a quiet scoff turning into a chuckle.
"Oh, it makes sense now, finally got yourself a little friend Kingstone." His audacious and arrogant tone made me wanna be sick. This man was no good, it was obvious he had something against Myles as he eyed him off as some sort of vermin. Stout turned his gaze to me, eyeing me up and down a couple times before letting out a sigh and speaking.
"Say, Hayes, how much do you know about Kingstone". Once again, his tone hurt to hear, but I was more nervous cause Myles told me not to speak.
"We met on orientation day. We got talking again and lost track of time if you're wondering why we're late, Stout". Myles crossed his arms over his chest firmly and giving Stout a dirty look like he is predicting what shit it gonna come out of the old man's mouth next.
"Oh, just talking right, so are care to explain why my cameras have shown me that you haven't left his room all day. Is there something I should know about? BOYS?" Stout took a step closer to Myles, who clearly was over the man's shit talk. Stout piped up quick before Myles could say anymore.
" Did he tell you? About why this whole room turns a disgusted eye to him every time he opens the door around them? He's a fa-" Myles cut the old man off my grabbing me around my arm and tugging me out of the hall, many turn to stare and some whispers in disgrace. Stout continued to yell but Myles was determined to get out of there, I grabbed a few small snacks on the way out.
We went back to the dorm block.
