My day started like any other day I got up at 7:30 and was out the door by 7:50. I was always rushing to school because I liked to take my time getting ready in the morning. Mom always tells me I should just wake up earlier so I don’t have to rush, but I don’t mind having to rush if it means I can sleep in longer. I hurried out the door hopped in my red truck and drove to school. I turned on the radio listening to the classic rock channel. I was going up to school I swerved into the parking lot jamming out to my music. I pulled into a parking spot that was close to the football field and the school building. I hopped out of my truck ready to head to my class. I closed the driver's side door. I turned around and I saw him. He was a new kid that started this year. I had most of my classes with him and in each one, I was fascinated by him. His soft wavy brown hair and his beautiful blue eyes that were a bright shade of blue. I think his name was Trevor. Maybe he is here to introduce himself since we haven’t talked before.
“Hey don’t you know that you are supposed to watch out for people in parking lots,” Trevor said yelling at me. This was not the response I was expecting
“What are you talking about,” I said. I was confused I don’t think I did something to upset him.
“Back there when you were driving in the parking lot you nearly hit me,” He said.
“Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t see you. You are so tiny it's so easy to miss you,” I said in my best flirty voice.
“Who do you think you are,” he started to shout before getting interrupted.
“Hey Felix who is this kid chewing you out like that,” Darren said. I saw behind Trevor were Darren, Jackson, and Aaron. They looked like they were about to beat Trevor up for yelling at me. I think Trevor knew this because he then stumbled forward falling into my arms.
“Wow, Felix this kid must really like you. Just look he is throwing himself onto you,” Darren said.
I was dazed. I was holding Trevor in my arms. I could feel his heart beating. He smelled like vanilla. Trevor then pushed himself off me and ran to the school building. I was just amazed by him and I was interested in him.
“You okay Felix and I don’t what I would do if someone like him grabbed onto me,” Darren said.
“What are talking about,” I said.
“Well the rumors going around is that that kid is gay,” Darren said.
“Yeah and so what,” I said.
“Come on dude. You saw how he threw himself on you. If we weren’t here who knows what he would have done to you,” Darren said.
“What makes you think he would have done anything to me. And the only reason he threw himself on me is that you guys scared him,” I said.
“Yeah whatever I just wouldn’t want someone like him touching me,” Darren said.
I don’t know why I put up with Darren's homophobic comments. Maybe he would change his tune if knew that I was gay. Frankly, he is probably the last person I would want to know about my sexuality. He may be my best friend but I knew what kind of person he was.
I didn’t realize this until today but shared all my morning classes with Trevor. I always sat in the back with my friends. I could barely focus on class today. I just kept staring at Trevor. I wanted to go talk to him but I was scared. After fourth period it was time for lunch. I walked to the cafeteria with Darren and Jackson. I then saw Trevor he looked lost. Maybe he was trying to find a place to sit. Maybe I should ask him to sit with us. I started walking towards him. Trevor must have not seen me because he ran right into me. He fell back onto the floor. “Woah Felix this kid must really like you the way he keeps running into your arms,” Darren said. Great, why does he have to keep opening his mouth. Trevor picked himself off the floor and ran out of the cafeteria. I was angry at Darren for opening his mouth. I handed Jackson my tray and I ran after Trevor. I found Trevor trying to clean his shirt in the sink in the bathroom. I couldn’t help myself from looking at his topless body. He may have looked slim but he was definitely in pretty good shape. He still hadn’t noticed me so I tried my best to start a conversation with him. “So are you going to wear a wet shirt or do you have a backup?” I said.
Trevor quickly turned around. He seemed upset. “No I don't have a backup shirt, I will just have to wear this one even if it is sopping wet,” he said. I felt bad it's my fault his shirt got dirty. I then remember I have my spare jersey in my bag maybe I could offer it to him.
“Well, I have an extra one if you don't mind it being a little bit bigger than yours,” I said. I then reached into his bag and pulled a red jersey out. “Here you can borrow my extra jersey.”
“No, I can’t do that you don’t even know me. I just couldn’t borrow your jersey,” he said pushing my jersey back to me.
“Come one dude just take it. It's going to suck wearing a wet shirt for the rest of the day. So just take it,” I said.
“Thanks,” he said taking the jersey out of his hand. He pulled it over his body. The jersey was two sizes too big and it draped off his frame.
“Thanks, Felix I will give it back Monday,” He said.
“You really look cute in my jersey,” I said. Crap that just slipped out. I couldn't help myself. He did look cute, but now he probably thinks I am weird.
“What did you say,” He said.
“I have heard the rumors about you. So just want to test something,” I said. I then leaned forward and kissed him. I don’t know why I did it. I was just so excited to know that there was a guy who was also gay at this school. A guy who looked like him. I just couldn’t help myself. He then pulled away from me.
“What the hell do you think you're doing?” He yelled.
“I'm sorry ever since this morning you captured my attention,” I said
“Look I appreciate you lending me your jersey, but I am not here to be used for some straight guy to experiment with his sexuality okay,” I said.
“I know I'm sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. Just know I don’t need to use you to test my sexuality,” I said.
“Wait you are,” He started to say before I interrupted him.
“Yes I am gay, I said. I don’t know why I said it. He was the first person who I told this to.
“Let’s just forget about the whole kiss thing,” He said
“I don’t know if I can forget about it. That was a pretty amazing kiss. I know you probably don’t want to be around me, but I would like to get to know you more. So can we please be friends?” I said.
“Sure we can be friends,” He said. I then pulled him into a hug. I was just really excited.
“Please don't tell anyone about the kiss or what I told you. I am still not out you know,” I said.
“Don't worry I won't, I promise,” He said. I was happy he seemed like a person who I could be myself around. I was so excited that I remembered my friends who I left in the cafeteria. It was probably best that I left before they came looking for me.
I started walking back to the cafeteria. I was still shaking in excitement. I can’t believe I just did that. I thought to myself. Oh my god, I kissed Trevor. I didn't mean for it to happen. We were alone and ever since he started school here, I was fascinated by him. His dark brown hair and slim but muscular body. I tried so hard to fight these urges but being in the bathroom alone with him I could no longer hold myself back. Even after kissing him he still wants to b friends with me. After lunch, I walked to my next class. I had a big smile and I was just so happy I sat down at my desk and my friends came and surrounded me.
“Felix dude I saw the new kid wearing your jersey,” My friend Jackson said.
“Dude you need to know more about this kid” Another of my friends Darren said.
“Really what do you guys know you haven’t talked to him before,” I asked
“Look from what I heard is that this dude apparently forced himself on some guy at his old school. Like I mean he started going down on him. He was kicked out for assaulting the guy,” Darren said
“Yo I heard that he was watching some guys shower in the locker room,” Jackson said.
I rolled my eyes. I knew these guys were just exaggerating. There is no way Trevor would do that. “Please I am not going to believe some rumor about a guy I just met. And I only lent my jersey because his shirt was wet. After all, he spilled his lunch over himself after running into me. So I thought I would be nice and help the poor guy out.” I said. I had heard rumors that Felix was gay but these things that my friends said were too extreme to be real.
“Alright dude just be careful or he might try to get into our pants,” Jackson said
“Yeah, I don’t want some gay boy watching me shower in the locker room. I mean people like that are just disgusting,” Darren said. They all just started laughing at Darren’s homophobic comments.
Frankly, the thought of having Trevor watching me in the locker room wasn’t such a bad thing. I pictured his piercing blue eyes watching my body. Maybe he would join me in the shower. It brought a smile to my face.
“Felix you with us man or you worried that gay boy might keep your jersey,” Jackson said.
“Please as if and why do you guys think he might be gay?” I asked.
“Well apparently Kelsey the captain of the cheer team has a friend at his old school and her friend told her that she saw this Trevor guy trying to suck face with another dude,” Darren said.
“If you say so. I wouldn’t believe a word that comes out of that girl's mouth. You guys better get to your seats. Class is gonna start.” I said. Trying to get rid of them.
“Yeah whatever don’t come crying to us if he returns your jersey slightly used,” Darren said.
I was too distracted by those rumors to focus on the lecture. I kept looking at Trevor there was no way someone who looked like that could do those things. Soon the bell rang and I started walking to my next class. As the day went by I couldn’t get Trevor out of my head. Whenever he was in my class I just kept staring at him. As I and my friends were walking to our last class I saw Trevor. I was too distracted by how my jersey was too big on his small frame to notice my friends surrounding him.
They had pushed him against the lockers. “So you're the new kid, right?” Darren said.
“Yeah, and what do you guys want?” Trevor said
“Oh nothing much we just wanted to come and find out if the rumors about you were true,” Darren said.
“And what rumors would that be?” Trevor asked
“Oh please don’t act like you don’t know. You know the rumors of you being a disgusting little gay boy who likes to watch guys in the locker room,” Darren said.
“Frankly I don’t know what you’re talking about. I am not interested in guys with tiny dicks,” He said. This pissed Darren off because he then slammed Trevor into lockers. Trevor winced in pain.
“Ugh gross so it is true you are a homo aren’t you,” Jackson said.
“And what if I am that has nothing to do with you assholes anyway,” Trevor said his voice starting to sound angrier.
“Well, we just wanted to figure it out. And now we know that you are a homo,” Darren said.
“Come on guys let's leave this guy alone,” I said. I wanted to leave. I didn’t know what to do. There was no way I could fight my friends right. I just have to try and get them to stop. “Come on Darren this guy is not worth it let's go before a teacher comes,”
“Yeah whatever I guess we need to get to class anyway,” Jackson said.
“Later gay boy,” Darren said pushing Trevor against the lockers this time a lot harder than the first. I looked at Trevor slumped to the ground he was clearly in pain. Heck, there was even a dent in the locker he was pushed into.
We walked to our last class of the day science. I then saw Trevor walk into the classroom. He was still in pain because he was limping to his seat.
“Alright hush up and get to your seats, class is starting,” Mr.B the science teacher said. Everyone sat down no one wanted to get yelled at by the old teacher. “Alright, we are going to start the first group project of the semester. Each of you will be in groups of two that I will assign. The first group is Darren and Jackson, Kelsey and Chloe, Marvin and Veronica,” He said. I listened to Mr.B go through everyone's name until it came for my turn. “Okay, the last group will be Trevor and Felix,” He said. My head shot up when he called my and Trevor's names.
