Mother sucked her teeth as she bubbled up with anger. She took one last glance at me before sighing, stroking my cheek ever so gently. I knew she was worried about what was gonna happen to me and I knew she was worried about whatever the hell that queen said. I placed a hand over her own hand that rested on my head. I knew how she felt, fearing for your own child is the same thing as fearing for your own sister. Mother began to hum a faithful tune which caused my mind to go into another haze, causing me to drift off to sleep. Yet, when I drifted into the depth of my slumber I was greeted by a bright blue light. The light turned into a bright blue flame which soon exploded, causing my dark filled brain to become replaced with the brightest shade of icy blue. I did a full spin as I took in everything that was happening, a huge icicle appeared in front of me, showing my reflection. I was wearing the same frilly dress but my shoes were missing and it looked as if I had a light shade of frostbite drifting up my arms and legs. My fingers had long sharp claws like nails as did my toes. My hair was still in its bun except it was white by the tips and I noticed how I had a long bushy tail that complimented my hair. I then noticed a set of fluffy ears on the top of my head, I poked them, causing them to twitch.
“Oh shit! I have her curse!”
I wanted to sound really upset but given the fact that I now had a babyish voice, my habits of cursing sounded more like a sin then it should have. I was given the curse that Bloom or Mother in this case, would have. Stupid hormonal curse that whenever I feel great anger or ‘sexual’ desires I turn into a frost beast. I should’ve written a better creature to shift into, no, I should've never given the villainess a curse to begin with.
The iceberg soon shattered, revealing a tiny little wolf pup. It floated down towards my arms as I held it within my embrace. Its fur felt so cold and it looked lonely despite the fact that it was asleep. As I curled my body into a warm resting position, the wolf pup snuggled against me before it glowed and disappeared. With that, I woke up from my slumber only to see a figure loom over me. It was too dark to see anything. I looked at my surroundings to notice that I was now within Mother’s castle and I was in my room. I was getting ready to yell but a faint bark caught my attention. I noticed the figure had a set of two sharp blue eyes. I reached out towards the eyes only to notice that something fluffy was in the way. As I touched the fluffy some more the figure barked once again before licking my hand. A dog? No, a lion? No, no, a wolf?
“Are you the wolf from my dreams?”
The figure howled, causing the lights within my room to turn on. When all the lights were on I noticed that instead of a wolf, there was a small boy with a set of wolf ears and a bushy white tail. The boy was dressed in a cute brown overall with a blue plaid shirt underneath, to match his overalls he had brown knee high socks and black shoes.
He flashed a smile at me, his tiny little canines shining at my face.
“Are you real? Am I real? Wait, I know I’m real but are you real?”
The boy just tilted his head to the side, most likely not even understanding a word I just said. He slid off my bed before taking off his shoes, waddled over towards one of my dressers, and grabbed the notepad I used for drawing. He also grabbed a pencil before walking back towards me. He sat on the bed and began to write something. I peaked over and deadpanned when I noticed that he was writing nothing but scribbles. The boy barked again before nuzzling his cheek against mine. I wasn’t going to deny it, he’s cute and he was rather on the fluffy side due to his hair, ears and tail. I exhaled softly before gently patting his hair, which he seemed to enjoy.
As time flew by, Mother eventually came into the room. Screaming from a random boy being within my quarters. I tried to calm her down which took a while due to the fact that she was ready to blow the poor pup to bits. After a while of explaining she finally somewhat got a grasp onto what was happening and why there was a wolf boy within my room.
“So, you’re telling me that this little thing is a wolf pup that was in your dreams? Sugar…That doesn’t sound right…”
I grumbled to myself as I puffed up my cheeks in frustration. I get that no one would believe a somewhat delusional six year old but come on. I walked over towards the boy before looking into his eyes.
“Hmm..I’m gonna name you Kazuyuki! But, I’ll call you Yuki for short! Your name means peace and snow.”
“Sugar, how do you know such a big term name? You’re only six?! Is it those books you have in your room?! Is it the drawing book?!”
I shook my head as I ignored Mother’s wordy questions. Yuki seemed to have enjoyed his given name due to the fact that his tail was wagging from side to side rapidly. I giggled from his little actions and knew he was going to treasure his name.
I knew that being trapped in the book had some perks but I had to deal with the most troubling thing so far. Teaching Yuki how to read.
So, I led him and Mother down towards our library and began to teach the mysterious wolf boy how to read. After many days of mistakes, spelling errors, name calling, mental swearing, and lack of sleep, Mother and I finally taught Yuki how to read, write, and speak. Despite knowing how to read, Yuki never spoke unless I was calling his name, in which he replied with a hearty yes. Well, at least it wasn’t all for nothing. Finally having the chance to leave the library and soak my body in a nice tub of rose water was all I needed.
