Zagiilios Chronicles: Tale of the Dragon God

Acceptance and Understanding

Acceptance and Understanding

Jan 14, 2022

After getting me to calm down and stop crying I was given some tea to drink; since my mother knew that I felt better when I was drinking iced sweet tea. When I had composed myself my mother was still there waiting to see what was wrong. So I asked but this time taking the words that the voice had said into consideration and trying not to be angry, "Why didn't you tell me that Godlings can become Gods?"

Mother realized that the school finally got to the lessons on the Cataclysm and she gave this look like she had been dreading having this conversation for a long time. When she goes to open her mouth and speak she's immediately cut off by Mrs. Wavedancer, "That really what you came in here crying about shorty? Here I thought something was wrong with you."

Mr. Wang shouted at her, "Lamillia! What the fuck?! Don't butt in on their family business!" To which she replied, "Look he's got himself all worked up because he's afraid he might be a God one day. But just because he can become one doesn't mean that he will. It doesn't mean that he needs to change his entire life just because of the possibility. There are dozens of godlings out there who never become gods. I mean his grandpa is one but that dusty old bat isn't going to become a God ever I don't think he wants to be either."

Mother looked at her and said, "Guys stop. Lamillia let me handle this." But I stood up and mother grew silent. I walked over and hugged Mrs. Wavedancer which seemed to slightly surprise everyone. When she herself realized what was going on she just patted me on my head.

"Thank you. I needed to hear that from someone I trust," I told her. Mr. Juunichi said something very similar to her point but at the time I was letting my emotions get out of control only after the conversation with the Voice did hearing these words again really sink in. She smiled which was rare and said, "No problem kid. You understand your parents just want you to try and have a normal life, right?"

I nod smiling, "I know. I just wish they had told me." She joked, "That's parents for you. They can get so concerned about the big things that they forget to do the little things themselves most of the time."

As I pull away the presence of the Voice comes back and as it does my vision is slightly changes and I see the faint outline of everyone's aura and I noticed inside of her is the aura of another life small and unborn. He says, "Tell her congratulations on conceiving the baby she's been trying to for decades. She will be confused at first but later she will be grateful to know. If she asks how you know tell her your eyes are opening to greater things. She won't fully understand but she will assume something about your age and power is playing into it."

Hearing it say that I didn't know what to actually do because I still don't fully trust this voice, but I guess it wouldn't hurt if it'll make her happy. So I look at her as the feeling of the Voice fades away once more, "Also congrats on getting pregnant. Your baby is going to be great."

Everyone seemed confused by what I said. She looked at me and without even saying anything she just folded her arms and gave me this expression like I better explain now what the hell I'm saying, or else she's going to I made a video probably beat me up. Mother asked, "What are you talking about? Lamillia isn't pregnant. Why would you say something like that?"

So I just say what the voice suggested with my own twist, "My eyes are opening to greater things...... I guess.... I just saw a faint aura of a life inside her for a few seconds. I'm assume she's going to have a baby."

Mrs. Wavedancer looks at me what that old look like she wants to study me for science that she gives me from time to time. But it changes at the prospect that she might be finally going to have a baby of her own. Mother always said that since her and her husband came to this town they've been trying to have a baby with no success. She's even been making potions for herself here just to improve her odds of conceiving. Glad to see it looks like it paid off and she can finally be a mother.

Mrs. Wavedancer goes off to I assume verify for herself whether or not she's actually pregnant. I instead give my mother a hug and start making my way home. I still don't like the fact that I could potentially become a God. It annoys me to no end, but I no longer feel as intensely angry as I was before and I instead now want to take my mind off of it by practicing my spells. I still had the remnants of my morning training session standing in the practice zone my father set up years ago to teach me sword fighting and combat magic.

I drop my things off inside and take off most of my close outside of my pants, my shoes, and my undershirt. I intended to take a couple hours to practice and I knew I was going to work up a sweat so might as well try and stay as cool as I can as I do. Heading back out to the training area I see my father sitting just a few feet away from the door that leads out to it waiting for me. Most likely either the school or mom told him about what had happened, maybe both. He doesn't seem angry but instead seems stoic but slightly sad. He stands up and I approached as apologetic looking as I can.

We stand in silence for a moment not knowing how to talk to each other but eventually he starts the conversation, "I got a call from the school a couple hours ago and I came here to see if you had came home while I was on my break and I didn't find you. Right before I got back to the station your mother gave me a call saying you stopped by. She told me about what happened set you which some of the teachers had started speculating after some of your classmates told them about what color your aura was during your Affinity Ritual. Your mother says that you looked heartbroken hearing what you could be............ Is that true?"

I don't say anything at first but then I feel like I might be about to weigh down on his patients I slowly start to nod. I hear him let out a deep breath almost sign with either disappointment or confusion on how to handle the situation. I finally speak, "I know that some people like me don't end up becoming Gods. It's just the idea of becoming one being possible for me is not something I want. I wouldn't want to be a God; not unless it was the only way I could see overcoming a situation I couldn't handle on my own without that kind of status or power. I want to be like you and momma. I want to be normal......."

He began to rub his eyes and he looked like he was contemplating what to say but eventually I saw him crack a smile. And then a very low life began until he burst out laughing. He looked at me and reassured me, "My son this is not the time to be normal in this is the town of outcasts and misfits that don't belong anywhere else in the nation for one reason or another. The most normal people here are the mayor and his family and even they have some things about them that make them slightly abnormal. Yet still............ You have the potential to become one of the most powerful beings this world has ever seen and you already are showing signs that's most likely going to be the case. But you don't want power.... All you do is try and learn every little bit of information that you can about the world, about magic, about everything and everyone. You don't want to live like a king. You just want to live like a man, and everyone can see it. But I don't get you sometimes........ Yet all I want is for you to have what it is in this life that will make you happy......."

I hug him almost instinctually and it almost catches him off guard but slowly he hugs me back. I tell him, "I love you papa." He pats me on the head and agrees, "I love you too my son....."

Eventually he went back to work and I finally got to train. Just like before I began using Minor Geo Manipulation to make training dummies out of dirt, roots, and stone that I could manipulate and move like real combatants. That way I could practice my control as well as focus my combat tactics against targets that could react better than a stationary target could. This time unlike this morning I was practicing my spells in both close quarters combat as well as ranged combat.

Currently my go to spells were: Blaze Burst, Fireball, Water Shot, and Lightning Grenade for range and crowd control. However when I was specifically trying to fight at target while in close quarters I tended to use: Electric Slide, Infuse Flame, Wind Slicer, and Vine Whip. Blaze Burst and Lightning Grenade both had a pretty decent area of effect for dealing with multiple targets for what essentially amounted to novice level spells. Both Fireball and Water Shot were pretty good at hitting targets from a decent range of up to 100ft reliably anything past that and the spell either was too weak to continue on at that point or it was just going to miss them by a wide margin. Electric Slide allowed me to increase my speed to from what I can assume he is around 1000 feet every 5 seconds for a total of 30 seconds. The fact that I could use this to essentially run circles around my enemy while also using Vine Whip and Wind Slicer to conjure a whip made out of thorny vines and a sword made out of air and then use Infuse flame on both of them so that not only did they hurt with the element I was using but also the additional fire that I was stacking on top of it. Especially when I can use the whip to try and wrap around somebody and yank them into effective melee range for me to make good use of the wind sword.

They are effective but I want to try out a new spell that I have been studying in my grimoire. It is essentially a improved version of Minor Pyro Manipulation known as a Moderate Pyro Manipulation which covers a wider area of effect and is capable of doing more damage because of it. If I can figure out how to use this spell I can figure out how to learn the counterparts spell for each of the other four remaining elements. After all the elemental manipulation spells are the baselines for almost every form of spell for each of the various elements. If you can figure out how to manipulate it in its purest elemental form you can shape it and restructure the magic however you like into the mini spell varieties that people have come up with.

I create all of the training dummies that are needed for this practice. For now I need them to be stationary but once I start getting the hang of the spell if I can figure it out today I should have no problem with making them mobile targets. As I start to work with the spell I began visualizing the magic inside of me as well as remembering how the spell was told to work and function. Then I focus on how much power I should try to put into it, and how to correlate that with visible size and magic output.

As the feeling of the magic begins the presence of the Voice comes back which throws me off and causes me to fizzle out the spell before I can actually complete it. Right before I can go off on it it tells me something almost as if it's trying to help me, "You are not using all of your skills to the best of your capabilities. You haven't tapped into the power that you've already unlocked. As a result your magic is not truly up to par with what it can be. In other words you're weakening yourself subconsciously."

"Oh what the hell are you going on about now," I retort. He gives me an image of the memory of the day I defended my classmates by unleashing my dragon's breath; which is something my father's people can do. They just say it's not as powerful as what I did for my age at the time. But he forces me to notice the eye that I was told appeared right in front of my halo and I see it for myself in this almost out of body look at the memory. It was the same depiction as the symbol of the eye on my tail feathers the only difference was it was hovering in the air right in front of my halo and glowing bright red.

The Voice spoke up, "You unlocked this first bit of power when you were much younger since then you have grown and learned things and now you're able to fully use the power of this eye...... The power of my eye..... If I had to try and explain it to you in a way that made sense to you I guess I could do it as such."

Right in front of my eyes I just a little bit enough away for me to actually be able to read everything and still see everything around me appeared a holographic looking digital character sheet with my name on it. It had all of my basic information as well as numerical values for my skills and abilities all under the name Tatsuhiro Starcrown. Now I really started to feel the anime isekai bullcrap of this new life and it would suck if I got stuck in a video game.

"This is no game boy. This world and everything in it is very much so real the display that I brought up for you is my way of representing everything that I'm trying to tell you in a method that you can understand better considering your history with video games and games in general. Scroll down to Traits and Perks," he clarified as to set me somewhat at ease.

I was about to ask how the hell to do that but the second I started to think about scrolling down it did it for me. Then I could see what it said and get a video game-like idea of my capabilities.
