1 hour before the show.
“What makes you laugh that hard, uh? I opened the door, seeing you cackling like that I thought you lost your insanity before the showcase, I almost call Brian to find another Odette,” Janet exclaims, his hand busy to draw perfect eyeliner wings across his temples.
Jamie giggles, watching his reflection in the mirror “That’s not going to happen” he tilts his head from side to side to admire the gradation of the eyeshadows Janet applied before. He is indeed good at his job.
Janet nods in agreement “I know, you ‘re the best dancer in this business” Janet sticks a few shining beads under the wings he just made “who are the flowers from?” Janet wonders.
“Timothy” Jamie gives the yellow petals a brief glance
“How sweet, I heard he’s busy with his job, he’s not going to come tonight as well, right?” a sliver glitters as Janet’s mainstay touches. The makeup artist hums satisfied as he looks at Jamie’s stunning reflection in the mirror.
“He’s not coming but I believe he prays for my showcase succession from afar” he presses his lips to let Janet apply a mauve lipstick meticulously, not giving a chance for a single mistake
Janet smiles “I know he will,” he checks his wristwatch “I guess Joseph already finished his rehearsal. I will start doing his makeup then. An hour before it starts anyway,” Janet informs, ready to reach the doorknobs.
“Janet” Jamie calls without giving him a look. He stares at the older by the mirror's reflection. Janet stops he moves as he looks over his shoulder “Thank you for everything”
Janet snorts amused “you don’t have to thank me, it’s also my honour to be part of your performance as your makeup artist. I really proud of you, you know that, right?”
Jamie smiles sweetly from the mirror “I know, I always know. That’s why I always rely on you,” he says.
Janet breaks the gaze “I really need to get Joseph, that kid will freak out if I'm late. This is his important showcase, anyway”
“It is indeed really important for him” he murmurs to himself as Janet already shuts the door close behind him. Jamie leans into the mirror, snatches the tissues from the box beside him with unnecessary savagery, and wipes his lips harshly, not letting a single mauve lipstick remain on his lips. He doesn't realise how his facial reflection is mixed between disgust and anger.
Instead, he is applying the burgundy lipstick with a brush to his inner lips, dabbing lightly with his index finger to give a gradient effect. Smiling as he is proud of the outcome.
