The Five and Ramsey went on their way to the back entrance of the castle. It wasn't far, just a little further down the East Wing, past more dark splintery doors, past more grey walls.
With each step that Ramsey took, it felt more and more familiar. Like what he and The Five were about to do was some tremendous dead- a dead that would save Ollum and those that live in it. Even though Ramsey knew that it wasn't true, that what they were about to do was wrong, he still couldn't help but feel pride in Ollum. It was a strange paradox that he put himself in, one that made him uncomfortable and caused his skin to itch under his robe.
"You okay over there?" Ace smirked while looking down at Ramsey.
Ramsey didn't answer them; he just gave them this look that both meant yes and no at the same time. The whole interaction was strange, Ace almost taking joy in Ramsey's
The back entrance of the castle was one that wasn't used much, only really for the sneaking in and out The Five did. It was indiscreet and looked more like the entrance to servant's chambers than it did to a castle. It was of regular height and width, the same wood used for the rest of the doors in the East Wing, but it was rectangular and made of 5 or so planks with iron plates to hold them together.
Archer, the excitable one with dark grey hair, grabbed the worn black iron handle of the door and pushed it open. He turned around, arms outstretched, fingers spread apart.
"This is going to be so much fun!" he exclaimed, a bright warm smile spread across his face.
It was a bright warm, spring day, and there were butterflies and insects everywhere you looked. The Five and Ramsey took a step outside, rays of sunshine hitting each of their faces. The back entrance opened toward a hillside, ending with a sheer cliff for them to fly off from.
After Archer had his moment in the sun, The Five got to business, lining themselves up at the end of the cliff, and Ramsey soon followed suit. Each shook themselves, and then starting from their feet and following into their head, they began to change.
Ace's iron boots disappeared into themself, and their feet began to change into huge yellow bird feet. Giant talons were on the end's of each of their toes, their grieves, same as their boots, disappeared into their legs, brown pin feathers pulling at the skin until coming out into full feathers.
Their arms began to change into wings. First, their feathers at the bend of the wing came in, then the secondary feathers followed, the last feathers to go on the wing were their primary feathers. All of them were brown, covering most of the top of their body with white with slight brown speckling covering the bottom of their body.
Once their head began to change, their body began to shrink into the size of their bird. Their head was brown with a stern, piercing eyes, grey feathers flowed out from their sharp yellow beak. By the time their head had entirely changed, Ace was now the size of their bird, the red-tailed hawk.
While this was happening, the rest of The Five and Ramsey were also changing as same as Ace.
Tala changed and morphed into a cockatoo, beautiful white feathers covering almost her entire body except for the dull orange around her belly and the bright yellow feathers that protruded out of her head in a sloping mohawk fashion. She also had large dark grey feet that allowed her to stand with pride.
Olive changed into a beautiful woodpecker, her back was speckled black and white, and her front was tan and white. She had a small tuft of red feathers on the top of her head, longer than most female woodpeckers. She was small compared to Ace and Tala. Also, unlike Tala and Ace was; Archer was very tiny; he was almost purely a smokey grey color with hints of silver along the edges of wings. Archer was a mocking jay.
Alika was tall with strong slender legs almost entirely devoid of feathers. Her upper thighs and tail feathers were an ebony black, and her body and head were a bright white. She had giant eyes with eyelashes going out a couple of inches further from her body. Surrounding her yellow beak and eyes were beautiful red and orange skin. A crown of white feathers blended into the black was placed on her head.
Ramsey was a frail, delicate sparrow who shook and shivered at the large and powerful birds next to him. The top of his head was grey and brown, and his wings were brown and black speckled. His belly was a tan blending down and into a light brown.
Ace gave one look at his followers and took off into the sky. Their wings flapped as they soared through the sky, and rays of sunshine bounced off their feathered bodies as they did so.
Thank you so much for reading; it really means a lot to me. I hope the descriptions of the birds weren't too much, but I really wanted to bring and give a lot of detail to The Five, at least because they will be major characters in the future.
If you were wondering about Tala and Alika's names, they were Elyse and Piper, but I felt like giving them names from where they were from. It fits them better, and I adore their names now.
Please leave comments. I love interacting with you all. The chapter will end in about two parts.
If you didn't see the announcement in the last episode I will be taking a hiatus and having a Q + A after this chapter.
Again thank you all so much for reading it means so much to me :D
A prophecy was told about a parakeet girl born with a star in her eye. This star would give her the power to see the future. The greedy monarchs wanted this power to themselves; they kidnapped the girl and locked her in a cage, in a tower far away from civilization.
They used her.
Once the girl turned sixteen years old, a raven girl, Toni, accidentally flew into the young girl's tower.
