The teal aura that filled my room vanished, like dust in the air, and revealed the secrets behind it.
This couldn’t be happening. Was this happening? I must be dreaming.
I slapped myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Ouch. Definitely not dreaming.
Now sat up on my bedroom floor was.. a creature? What creature was this? I stared at it’s unchanging face, somewhat bearing a shocked and terrified expression, as if it had never see a wizard before. But that couldn’t be right.. wizards are well know throughout the whole of planet Vox.. they were the first of many creatures to walk the planet’s untouched surface.. hold on.. this all wasn’t adding up..
I squinted at the creature sat infront of me, trying to figure out what it was. No pointy ears so definitely not an elf.. no tail or fluffy ears so it was most certainly not a werewolf or any other animal hybrid for that matter.. it CERTAINLY wasn’t a centaur, for if it was it wouldn’t be sitting up like it was right now.. and it wasn’t clad in wizard clothes, so it wasn’t like me at all.. what could this be..
Maybe it could tell me? I tried talking to it.
“Hello, uh, creature? Thing? Sorry for accidentally teleporting you here right now.. you see I’m like a wizard and all but not like a proper wizard and I was kinda practicing a summoning spell from my Dad’s book of SUPER cool spells that I just so happened to have maybe stole from his private spell casting turret thingy along with his really cool magic staff that I have been like DYING to use for like agess! And oh.. where were we? Oh yes, well I was just wondering haha, what exactly are you?” I blurted out nervously, “Sorry, my Dad always said I say too much when I’m flustered, do I look flustered to you? I mean I wasn’t expecting the spell to work.. I MEAN I WAS JUST NOT EXPECTING.. well for you to appear and you seem really strange and I don’t know what you are and-“
I paused mid paragraph as the thing sat infront of me opened it’s mouth as if it say something, but instead chose to gape at me before letting out a bloodcurdling scream, the type that gets my hair all in knots, and scrambled it’s way across the room.
I winced, covering my ears. That certainly was odd, no creature on this planet would ever have that kind of reaction to a wizard, even if they had accidentally teleported the creature to their home. This couldn’t be any creature from Vox, no, this was a.. a..
“EMERY MY SON, I’M HOME!” Dad yelled. Time was up.
“QUICK IN THERE” I forcefully whispered at the creature before me, now knowing what it was. I gestured towards the wardrobe behind it and it quickly crawled into it as I shoved the stolen spell book and staff in there with it. All in the nick of time, for just as I had thrown myself under the messy covers of my bed, my Dad walked into my room.
Planet Vox is a beautiful place, home to many creatures alike and not alike, from werewolves to vampires, and centaurs to unicorns. These creatures live harmoniously, together.
But planet Vox was not always like this, no. Over 10,000 years ago, Vox was home to another species of creatures, this species being what you and me are today…
Humans.
After the great betrayal, the humans were forced to leave Vox, and find a new planet.. or face immediate divine punishment, the extermination of their kind.
Since that day, no human has ever stepped foot on Vox again, and the other habitants made it a rule to never speak of the humans again. But soon all of that would change, and it would start with a young wizard, his name being Emery Hubbard.
