Katsuki’s lips were so soft, and when Denki lifted his hand to tangle it in the hairs at the nape of the other boy's neck, he found that he was soft there too. Suddenly he wanted so much more of this soft touch.
~
This is the best idea Katsuki has ever had. Here he was, standing at the aquarium that’s not far from campus watching Denki be completely amazed by some stingrays. He’s at the touch pool talking to a bunch of kids and freaking out slightly when one of the stingrays touches him. It was adorable, Denki was having so much fun, and Katsuki was perfectly content watching his boyfriend be happy.
His boyfriend. He was still a little amazed he could say that. That Kaminari Denki is his boyfriend. That he, knowing Katsuki's personality, still chose to be with him. Katsuki always thought he would be watching from afar as Denki flirted relentlessly with everyone else. But now they belonged to each other, and no one else. It was perfect.
He watched Denki look at all of the fish, and chatter his amazement, as he pointed out the different species. Talking about how some of them have eyes on their backs as camouflage, how some of them made really funny faces. “Look, Kacchan, this guys mouth is wide open, you see this??”
He was especially excited when they saw the electric eels. “Babe, you don’t understand, this is my spirit animal. I am this eel, and he is me.” Denki smiled. Katsuki walked up behind him and wrapped his arms around the smaller boy's waist. His mouth fit just perfectly at ear level.
“Slimy, or shockingly dumb??” he whispered lowly.
“Hey!” Denki sounded offended.
~
They saw it when they were about to walk into the shark tunnel. There was a small kid with blue hair, kicking out at a larger man who had his arms around him. “Please! No! Help!! Leave me alone,” the child screamed, “Someone help me!”
With barely a glance at each other they both ran into the fray. “Let go of the kid, you damn villain!” Bakugou growled, letting small explosions loose in his palms hoping to scare the man. Upon closer inspection he had gills, and showed sharp teeth when he growled at Katsuki.
“Yeah, Leave the kid alone!” Denki added.
“What are a couple teenagers going to do about it?” the villain taunted. His voice was garbled,he must have trouble speaking above the water.
“I think the question is what are a couple of heroes going to do about it,” Denki spoke triumphantly, only to be interrupted by Katsuki.
“Let go of the kid, I won't ask again.”
Katsuki’s mind was racing, high on the adrenaline of his body preparing for a battle. He could smell the nitroglycerine burning in his palms.
How do i separate him from the brat? I can't set any explosions until the kid is out of the way, and Dunceface doesn’t have his support items, so he can’t focus his electricity without touching the villain. He can’t do that until the man is no longer touching the child. What can I do to get him to let go.
“There’s no way a couple of kids like you are heroes, I mean look at you.” the villainspoke.
“Kids like us? You mean kids that are decent enough people to use our quirks for good, and not to kidnap children??” Denki snarked. Good job dunce face, keep him talking, distract him from the hostage.
“He’s my kid!” The Villain roared, “she took him from me! She had no right to but she took him from me!” Tears welled up in the villain's eyes.
Ah, custody case. Divorce gone bad for the kid. The man is irrational. All i need is for him to let go of the kid. He shot a meaningful look at Denki, and a single nod. Keep him talking, get him emotional, make him charge at you. So I can grab the kid. I’m counting on you Denki.
“Oof, i’m guessing this is your ex wife's kid then?” Denki said as he looked away from Katsuki. “How do you expect to raise a kid, if you couldn’t even keep a wife?”
“You don’t know anything about me! This is my son! He’s mine, I just want to be in his life!”
“I’m not your son! I’m not! You have no right to even talk to me anymore. Not after what you did!” The man's grip seemed to loosen in surprise, allowing the kid to escape.
Katsuki ran forward, “come here kid! Grab on tight!” he held on to the kid firmly and blasted himself into the air. “Chargebolt, Now!!” he screamed, struggling to keep himself airborne while holding the kid, and not crashing through the tank above them.
“1.3 Million Volts!” Denki shouted before he slammed his hands on the ground emitting as much electricity as he was capable of. The villain screamed in pain for a good moment, his muscles clenching and spasming, before he passed out, and Denki collapsed.
Once it was safe to come down, Katsuki set the child on the ground, next to Chargebolt. “Hey kid, what’s your name?” he rasped.
“Blu”
“Alright Blu, I'm Dynamight. I’m gonna need you to sit right here while i help up Chargebolt okay? Then we’ll help you find your mom. Does that sound good?”
Name nodded, and looked towards Denki. “Is he gonna be okay?”
Katsuki made an expression somewhere between a smile and a grimace, “He’s tough. He’ll be just fine.” He turned towards where Denki laid on his back, and pushed the hair away from his boyfriends eyes, and cupped his cheek.
“Hey,” he said softly, “Hey, Denki, you gotta wake up, it’s not over.” Denki’s golden eyes began to open, meeting red ones. His mouth stretched into a smile and he spoke in a raspy voice.
“Yeey~”
Katsuki’s head dropped. He reached into his pocket and made a phone call to Aizawa Sensei’s emergency number. “Sensei, there was an attempted kidnapping at the aquarium where dunceface and i are at. We have him taken care of, he’s knocked out, and Kaminari’s short circuited. The kid is unharmed. Can you send cops? Are there any pro heroes in the area? I don’t have anything to restrain him with”
Aizawa sighed, “It’s really beyond me how you all seem to get in to this much trouble, entirely off of dumb luck. I’ve got a pro on their way. I’ll notify the police as well. As for restraining the villain, if Denki hit him with 1.3 million volts he should be out cold for a good while. Just make sure they’re alive, and prop him up somewhere.”
“Alright” He did as he was told, because as much as he hated authority, Aizawa did have a point.
He checked the villain's pulse, and although it was slow, it was steady enough to last until a pro got there.
Aizawa must have called the aquarium as well, because a few minutes later as he finished propping up the villain and sat between Denki and the kid, a security guard came in.
“Thank fuck,” Bakugou growled. “You got handcuffs?”
The officer just raised an eyebrow.
“This asshole just tried to kidnap this kid. You guys were lucky Chargebolt and I were here to stop it or you would be in the middle of so much press bullshit you wouldn’t be able to take a shit without running into a reporter. So, I won't ask again. Handcuffs?”
The security guard tossed the cuffs to Katsuki. “Can I ask who you are.”
“Dynamight, a UA student, who’s supposed to be on break! But I can't go on a date with my boyfriend without it turning into complete chaos! Watch this sick son of a bitch. Pros’ll show up soon, i gotta go take this kid to find his mom, and get this idiot home.”
“Whey~” Denki said when he saw Bakugou approach him.
“Alright, Denki, grab on, lets go.” he said as he stood holding out a hand to help the blonde boy up. He slung one of Denki’s arms over his shoulder and held him up from his waist. Denki just held the other hand up in a thumbs up and smiled, his eyes glazed over. He reached his other hand out for Blu.
“Come on,” he said. “Let’s go find your mom.”
~
Katsuki sat on the chair in the dorm while Denki slept. After the whole ordeal, he had gone to see Recovery Girl, who had repaired most of the damage to his muscles, from tensing so much, but he needed to rest, to restore all of the energy he had expended.
Denki had explained how his short circuit’s work to Katsuki once. His quirk makes it so that he can conduct electricity with his body, not produce it. That’s why he has to charge himself every once in a while, usually after training. When he uses his 1.3 million volt attack he not only conducts all of the electricity he has charged up, but he conducts more from his nervous system, and everything around him. When he does this, it’s almost like he is creating his own electricity, and his body isn’t protected from that, so the electricity affects him just as much as his victims. It causes all of the muscles in his body to tense completely, and creates mini heart attacks It burns his skin resulting in the lightning bolt shaped scars running from the center of his back all the way to his scalp. It’s an excruciating pain and he deals with it constantly. Nearly every day he pushes his quirk to the limits at training, and he goes through this every time.
Denkis eyes shoot open and he sits up rapidly, gasping. Katsuki rushes to his bedside. “It’s okay, Denki, I'm here. I’m here with you. We’re in your room, the villain was taken care of and is in police custody. The kid, Blu, is okay, and reunited happily with his mother.”
Denki just let himself collapse back onto his mattress, “I did it again didn’t i? I couldn’t handle my own power.”
“No.” Katsuki said cupping Denki's cheek with one hand, forcing him to look him in the eyes, and grasping his hand with the other. “You saved a child from a lunatic that was trying to take him from his family. You were a hero. And you’re still learning. You’ll be in the top ten one day, and you’ll have learned to control your quirk, but for now, you’re still a first year student. One that is miles ahead of many other people our age. You hear me Denki?”
Denki just nodded, not having the energy to argue. “Stay with me?”
“Always.”
Katsuki got up to turn off the lights and craw under the covers. “But we are definitely talking about this tomorrow.”
