"I need a goal which I am working towards"

I always thought that with a goal in mind, you can achieve whatever you want more easily, and so I racked my brain to find out what it should be.

The first thing that came to mind was trying to be the strongest creature. I mean, that god did say, that I am supposed to be a legendary beast, so this goal should be attainable. But I am still not interested in constantly fighting others. I would much rather help others than fight them to death.

After thinking for a while longer, I remembered, that I always wanted to have a family of my own. But I can do this whenever I want, and it could also be a hindrance to reach certain goals.

And so I scrapped this idea for the time being and started to think about a new goal. Although I thought about it a while longer, I had no better ideas. This led me to the conclusion, that I don't need to set a goal at this moment.

"I should explore the world and learn more about it. Maybe I will find something I have not yet considered."

Just as I thought this, I saw a shadow pop up on the other side of the lake. Wanting to investigate the shadow, I started to slowly and carefully approach it.

The shadow did not move or make any sound at all while I was getting closer. But as soon as I was standing beside it, there was suddenly a blinding white light emerging from it.

"AHH! What is that?" I shouted while hastily backing away.

As soon as I had the impression of having gained enough distance, I looked back to find out what is happening.

The white light began to form the shape of a human body. It was only a matter of seconds until the transformation was complete, and a beautiful, middle-aged woman was standing before me.

She had lush, brown locks of shoulder-length hair and an intense but still equally gentle look in her eyes.

When she finished examining her surroundings, she greeted me with a big smile.

"Heya, young dragon. No need to be shy, I won't hurt you."

Even though my instincts tell me that she is trustworthy, I was still perplexed. Why could I understand what she was saying?

And so I asked her, "Who are you, and why can I understand what you are saying? I thought my skills only allow me to speak and understand the Draconian language?"

"Well, of course! Where are my manners?" she took a short break to clear her throat and continued, "I am the god that is tasked with overseeing this world and my name is Celestina. Being the overseer of this world means that I can naturally speak in all the languages of its inhabitants."

"OK, let's assume that you are really the overseer of this world. But why would a being such as you come to meet me? I am just..."

Before I could continue, she interrupted me.

"You need not say more! I know that you got reincarnated into this world. Old man Ignatius came to me and asked me to help you get a foothold in your new world."

"Is Ignatius the one who was responsible for my reincarnation? He did not seem to care so much about me, that he would go out of his way to help me."

"Oh? That was indeed him. I wonder why he didn't even tell you his name? But that's beside the point....he regretted how harshly he treated you before the reincarnation. And now here I am!"

"Hmm....ok. And how do you intend to help me?"

"That's easy! I don't intend to meddle too much in the affairs of this world, and so I decided to grant you three questions about this world. You should choose wisely."

"OK, so I have three questions? Hmm...what would be a good question? Although that god named Ignatius was unable to reincarnate me as a human, maybe there is some way to gain a human body? I don't know how much is possible with magic in this world, but I would guess that I have a fair chance, that it is possible."

"OK, I have decided on my first question."

"Already? Are sure that you will not regret you choice later?"

"Yes, I am sure! Is it possible for me to gain a human body?"

"That is your first question? Really? Hahaha, why would you want a weak human body when you are a dragon?"

"Hey! Could you please stop laughing? I was being serious. Even if I am already used to this new body of mine, can I only see me getting lonely as a dragon. Although I must admit that I had low self-esteem in the past, I want this life to be a chance for a fresh start. With the body of a dragon most living beings will probably run away in fear. So how am I supposed to socialize with others?"

"Ok.... I see your point. Listen, there is indeed a way for you to get a hybrid body between human and dragon. I won't tell you the exact details on how to obtain it, but can give you a clue on where to start looking."

"A hybrid body? Hmm....well better that than nothing. Tell me more, I am all ears."

"Go to the north. There is a hidden village inside the mountain called Kaiban. Living there are other hybrids between dragon and human. They can tell you the necessary steps and requirements for the transformation. You will find yourself in a dead end when you are entering the only cave leading into the mountain. However, that is not a problem, for there is an array which will activate itself only when it detects a dragon or a hybrid. It will reveal a staircase leading to the village."
