“You alright Emery? You seem flustered.” my Dad asked politely. He knew something was up, I just knew he did, but I had to pretend, buy sometime, and then I’d take the human and run..
I didn’t like the human, of course I didn’t, but I wasn’t doing this for it, I was doing it for me. Sure it would face an eternity behind bars in the divine justice prison, or bring extermination on it’s kind, but I bet the problems it would cause for me would be way worse if word got out I had accidentally summoned an illegal creature, whilst illegally using magic as I didn’t have a magic license.
I couldn’t care less about that human, humans disgust me, why should I go out of my way to protect it?! Thats right, your just doing this for you Emery, just doing this for you..
“Emery?”
“Oh what? Oh yeah I’m fine Dad don’t worry haha, nothing wrong here whatsoever!” I quickly responded, trying my best not to seem suspicious, but completely failing.
“Alright hun, well tell me if anything is wrong ok? Night Emery.”
Dad gave me a hug, headed to the door and walked out the room, carefully shutting the door as to not make a sound. The second the door shut I began preparing myself for the adventure ahead of me..
I grabbed my favourite yellow bag and opened the wardrobe, stuffing the spell book, along with as much clothes as I could fit into it. I grasped hold of the staff and opened my bedroom window, the wind filling my room.
“Come, there is no time to dawdle! We must make haste before you get seen..” I beckoned to the human. It shakily got up without saying a word, still bearing the same look of terror on it’s face as it wore when it had first appeared.
“Hold my hand, you’ve got to trust me on this one..” I reached out for it’s hand, it hesitantly grabbed hold.
“Here we go.. “ I murmured, lifting up the staff with all my might.
This was the beginning of my first adventure, and as much as it filled me with pure excitement, the weight of responsibility that fell on my shoulders brought upon a feeling of dread I had never felt before.
I closed my eyes.
I pictured where I wanted to go. The forest had ought to do for right now, we didn’t have the time to find a 5 star hotel to make shelter in, no, for I could hear my Dad running down his spell casting turret’s staircase.
“EMERY DON’T DO THI-“ He yelled, and it was the last thing I heard before I thrust the staff into the wooden floor and disappeared, taking the human with me, without a trace.
We fell to the ground, and as I gathered my senses and sat up to knock the dust of me, I watched as the human got up to vomit in the nearest bush.
I couldn’t lie, I felt the urge to puke up my entire insides after that stomach flipping experience that was teleportation, but I couldn’t let the human see, I had to show leadership, I had to be responsible.
The human got up only to collapse at the stump of a tree after a few steps and pass out. Nauseously, I wobbled my way over to make sure it was asleep and to cover it with moss so that it wouldn’t freeze over the chilly spring night, before in turn puking in the nearest bush, covering myself with moss and falling into deep slumber next to it, not able to keep my eyes open for so much as another second.
Planet Vox is a beautiful place, home to many creatures alike and not alike, from werewolves to vampires, and centaurs to unicorns. These creatures live harmoniously, together.
But planet Vox was not always like this, no. Over 10,000 years ago, Vox was home to another species of creatures, this species being what you and me are today…
Humans.
After the great betrayal, the humans were forced to leave Vox, and find a new planet.. or face immediate divine punishment, the extermination of their kind.
Since that day, no human has ever stepped foot on Vox again, and the other habitants made it a rule to never speak of the humans again. But soon all of that would change, and it would start with a young wizard, his name being Emery Hubbard.
