The birds were singing their shrill songs, and the sun shone like never before as my I rubbed my eyes open. What a lovely morning.
It took me a couple seconds to realise, but this wasn’t were I had fell asleep last night. In fact, no, I didn’t know this place at all? Where was I?
I looked around me, confused. The grass was too green, the sky was too blue, the flowers were too bright, even the trees seemed to be radiating a supernatural glow. Was I dreaming? I had to be dreaming, there was no way this was Earth. Earth was dull and boring, the skys usually overcast with the smoke and methane from mass factory production lines, this place was a bright and energetic wonderland, where all fairies lived happily ever after.
In other words, both was the idea of hell to me.
I pinched myself, slapped myself, blinked ferociously until my eyelids hurt, begged for this to all be a dream. But it wasn’t. And I was begging to remember what had caused this all.
That.. thing..
I looked around for it, finally setting eyes upon it’s weathered blue cloak draped upon it’s shoulders, as it sat at the edge of the cliff we were on, peering down at the rest of the forest continuing on beneath us, and eating these strange berries, that had the colour of an orange but the appearance of a raspberry. It seemed to notice my gaze was on it, as suddenly it spoke.
“Didn’t your mother ever teach you it was rude to stare?” It snapped harshly, it’s gaze remaining still on the wilderness that lay infront of us. It’s voice shocked me at first, high pitched yet it rumbled through me like how a low pitched voice may simultaneously. This voice was like no other beings voice that I had ever heard before.
Though theoretically I suppose I had only heard other human’s voices, and this thing was certainly not human. I could tell that much by how it was dressed.
“Well?” The figure said, less snappy now, instead showing no emotion behind it’s speech.
“Who are you.” I responded, my gaze not shifting from the back of it’s head. “Though I suppose that isn’t the question really, the real question is what are you?”
Silence. Then a response.
“Me? I’m a wizard.”
I laughed.
“Whats so funny, human?”
“Ah, it’s nothing, it’s just first I wake up in a world completely unlike my own, and now the reason behind me being here is trying to claim it’s the fairy godmother’s grandchild! Ha, imagine that!!”
It remained silent. Perhaps I struck a nerve there. Not that I cared, I wanted out of this place, I didn’t want to be stuck here sharing our life stories to eachother, and I certainly wasn’t in the mood to deal with this wizard bull, I mean come on, do I look that stupid?
Planet Vox is a beautiful place, home to many creatures alike and not alike, from werewolves to vampires, and centaurs to unicorns. These creatures live harmoniously, together.
But planet Vox was not always like this, no. Over 10,000 years ago, Vox was home to another species of creatures, this species being what you and me are today…
Humans.
After the great betrayal, the humans were forced to leave Vox, and find a new planet.. or face immediate divine punishment, the extermination of their kind.
Since that day, no human has ever stepped foot on Vox again, and the other habitants made it a rule to never speak of the humans again. But soon all of that would change, and it would start with a young wizard, his name being Emery Hubbard.
