As he talks about his nine eyes I know he's not talkin about 9 literal eyes and instead referring to the crown of glowing eyes that were floating above his head when I first saw the form he took. He's right about the fact I haven't tapped into that power since the one time that it happened and I never even tried to up until now. As I look at my character sheet I tried to find where it references the power of the eyes. It actually remains on race and then pulls up a secret hidden part of the character sheet.
He seems happy when I sought out the information on my own, "Good look over what the information says and hopefully it will help you with understanding what each of the current eyes can do especially once you figure out how to open the other two." As I start going over the information would immediately strikes me is that the eyes are collectively known as the 9 Eyes of the Dragon God. I'm a little confused by this at first especially cuz the entity said that it is something greater than a God to me once so the name of this ability would imply that it was lying.
It seems to take issue with that line of thought and immediately corrects it, "I most certainly did not lie. I am something much greater than a God but I am also still technically a God. If I'm being specific I'm considered an Elder God or a title that I much rather prefer to be called an Ancient God. But I am still much more than that because before I was even a God I was already something greater. Godhood came later and only added to the power I already possessed. Power that you can unlock once more and potentially use for whatever it is that you would like to do...... I much rather would like to try and find her. Nonetheless that is beside the point. Just read what the eyes can do."
I shrug my shoulders at his excuse for why the ability is called such. However I do begin actually looking at what each of the eyes do because it does break them up to explain what each individual I gives me.
All currently obtained eyes for the 9 Eyes of the Dragon God:
- Eye of Kings: You gain the ability to dominate the world around you and impose your will upon others as your right as king of this reality. You can speak simple or complex commands and force a person to do them against their will fully conscious that they are being controlled and manipulated by you. Harmless commands do not require them to try to save against this effect, but commands that actively put the person in danger or causes them harm they must make a Enlightenment save against it of DC 40. On a failed save they must be forced to adhere to the command even if it kills them. If they succeed in their save against the command they are unaffected by it and any further commands given to them for the next year. However the more complex and nuanced the command the easier it is for them to save against it by each step of the command giving them a +5 to their save. Can be used 5 times per day.
- Eye of Destruction: This eye channels all of the power the raw essence of destruction into it allowing you to empower attacks and abilities and spells with the unbridled force of destruction. Passively all of your spells and abilities gain +250ft of range, an increased +100ft for any that have an area of effect, and if they have a duration longer than instantaneous then that duration last for upwards of 10 hours unless you dispel it early. 5 times a day you can empower any successful attacks, spells, or abilities to do 10 times the normal damage. All of this does stack with other features that increase these same benefits.
- Eye of Creation: This eye the beautiful raw essence of creation into it allowing you to impose your will on all of reality and manifest into being that which you desire within its capabilities. Anything specifically made by you will always be considered a master tier creation no matter what it is while using the power of this eye without even needing to actually put in any effort however if effort is put in did the creation of what you are doing you can easily make something of mythic tier quality so long as you pass a DC 30 skill check associated with whatever it is you are creating. If you are using a spell or ability that allows you to create something no matter what it is it will be 5 times larger with 5 times more of whatever it was that you can create. If you use an ability or spell that allows you to create life or souls every time you use that spell or ability instead of creating one life or soul you will create at least 10. Also whenever you use any kind of healing ability or spell you can increase the amount of healing done by 10 times more 5 times per day. All of this does stack with other features that increase the same benefits.
Currently the only eye that's been marked as open out of the three that I have unlocked is the Eye of Destruction; which must be the one I channeled 5 decades ago when I was trying to protect my classmates and teacher. It's very clear at this point that was my skillset and abilities I am technically way too strong for my age even more so than I had originally imagined and technically now that I know some of the things that I didn't about what I can do I could see myself trying to figure out how to make them work in actual practice. At this rate my mind was wandering all of the possibilities that my skill set allows for that I have not been using so far.
"Good. That is what I was hoping for. I want you to discover your true potential and what you do with it is up to you. I can't stand to see even a version of myself falling behind their true potential just because they don't know any better," the Voice said without me even thinking about it.
I asked him, "Why is it that now you've decided to try and let me know about this information and why not sooner?" To which his response was immediate and to the point, "Simple. You were not ready. Despite your knowledge and age you were not mentally prepared enough to handle all of this power which is why I've only been slowly allowing you to tap into more and more of it as I see you progressed over the years. This isn't progression based solely off of skill but also mental fortitude and understanding. In your past life you closed yourself off to a lot of experiences and possibilities and didn't really get a chance to live until after your life was already halfway over. Now you got more time literally and the experiences of your last life alongside with the new perspective given by this one has helped you to start growing up past the point that you had been stuck at."
I rolled my eyes at the possibility that the voice thought me to immature and childish to handle this kind of knowledge. Then I begin to try having a conversation with it about how to proceed, "Okay oh wise and powerful voice in my head, how do you suggest I go about opening the other two eyes or learning how to tap into the eyes in general?"
"Very simple. The Eye of Creation can be open by learning how to make things. After all the eye gives you the power to improve your creations or make them naturally better than what they are with minimal effort. The Eye of Kings is one that might be trickier to open simply because you need to get out of your comfort zone and try to impose your will on to others. It will only if open once you get the first command you absolutely refuse to go ignored. For now I would suggest tapping into the Eye of Destruction which is already opened. You simply need to call upon the power that is already there and not be afraid to use it," he answered.
I think on what he says for a moment and then I focus myself. I've been taking deep breaths and I start thinking back to that day in the emotions that I felt. When I try to tap into it I can feel the connection starting to form, but then it just fizzles out. As if something's keeping me from tapping into it again.
I begin to wonder what it could be that's holding me back. However I keep pushing through it even though I'm currently still having trouble actually finalizing the connection to be able to access the power of the eye. Then I can feel the presence of the Voice begin exerting power over the dummies that I made. I see him turn the stone dummies into steel ones and then he began sending them at me to attack me almost like he's trying to actually kill me.
Immediately I go on the defensive and start maneuvering out of the way and doing my best to keep from getting hit. When I start to think that the voice had tricked me and I start getting angry that's when I realize what's going on. He's putting me in a similar situation to help me remember that feeling that originally opened the eye to begin with. He's doing what I would have done I guess we might not be so different after all.
As he seems to recognize that I understand what's going on here amps up the danger by making more of these steel dummies almost triple what I originally had. As I begin to be pushed my absolute limits trying to avoid getting hit I start feeling myself getting back into a corner. Then the voice starts to alter my perception of things and for a moment I swear I see the face of my previous life's a mother on all of the dummies. She spouting the same wicked heartless nonsense she would when she would beat me repeatedly or try her best to kill me. For a moment I start to feel helpless and of weak, but then I hear the sound of my new mother's voice calling out to me from inside the house and she seems to have gotten off work for the day, "Tatsu? You home?"
Several of the dummies change course to try and get around behind me. They make it look like they are going to go in the house and attack my mother. I can tell that the Voice isn't serious about making them do that, but the sheer idea of it possibly happening even accidentally if he's not able to stop them in time to readjust their positioning that only makes me angry. I refuse to let it happen. I refuse to let her get hurt even if the chance of it happening is slim.
I start thinking back to that day at the school and I felt something very similar when I heard the other screaming and afraid. This burning desire to protect them live in my chest, and I could just feel it becoming so much I had to let it out. I can feel it building up in me again right now.
Time almost seem to slow down as I began boosting my speed with the desire not to be on the defensive anymore, but to immediately go on the offensive and crush every training dummy that was there. The Voice was pleased, "Yes! Set up fire in your heart boy!!! Let it burn brighter than any star consuming all that stands before it to oppose it!!"
I could feel the connection with the eye forming again, but this time there was nothing stopping it from completing. When I felt that surge of power from the eye activate; time almost seem to slow down to a snail's pace even more. With a sudden burst of speed I not only was up in the face of the dummies trying to get towards the doorway where my mother's voice had came from but almost instinctually I grabbed their heads and crushed them in the palms of my hands. With a kick I severed some of them in half. Then I followed up with rapid fire spells to those further back with the increased potency that the eye provided. Along with some of the other abilities that I was finally learning how to tap into; they all seemed to flow naturally together allowing me to draw out strength that I didn't even know I was capable of.
As my mother could hear the training session going on, she came to the door and opened it to see me now fighting 30 training dummies made out of steel. She watched as I was able to easily dismantle and melt them with raw power and spells used in tandem effortlessly. When I was done, I looked back at her with the eye still active changing the color of my halo to red instead of the yellow that it usually was. She had this expression on her face. it was a mixture of looking impressed but also looking terrified. Worried how she might think of me I made the eye stopped working and I allowed myself to calm down quickly.
I tried to play it off, "Sorry just testing a few new tricks and spells. Hope I didn't worry you too much earlier. I think I let my emotions get the better of me for a little bit."
She walks up to me slowly and looks at the dismantled the limbs and crushed skulls of the metal testing dummies surrounded by portions of molten hot metal searing into the training ground from the few that I hit with fire spells. She looked down at me and placed her hands on my shoulders. She laying down a little and looked at me very worried, "Are you sure you are okay? I've never seen you fight like that. You looked so angry but so happy at the same time. I just want to make sure you are alright."
I gave her a nod as I looked her in the eyes so that she wouldn't worry herself too much. I didn't want to give her a heart attack. She seemed to accept it without pushing too hard into it. She didn't seem to care about how I was able to do what I did with the eye. It's not like she didn't know about it, but she didn't seem to care about how strong it made me in that moment. I cleaned up everything with a couple uses of spells that she had told me and together we fixed dinner. For a day that felt longer than it should have it ended on a very peaceful note without any further worries or fears.
