When the next day can you things were much different, father started training me how to handle myself in the upcoming raid on the criminal den located in the northern forest. I didn't use the eye when training with him. I instead focused on trying to use some of my other tricks as well as other spells that I know in order to prove that I can handle myself. I also started trying to figure out how to use some of the skills and abilities that appeared on the character sheet that I also learned how to pull up on demand every couple of minutes. Some of these were very useful and I wanted to try and figure out how to make them work in reality since they word generalization of my current capabilities and what I could be capable of.

Father got me used to walking around in heavy armor made to fit a 10 year old. It had the same basic enchantments that all of the officers in the police force have on their gear. From what the character sheet displayed, it was a minor buff to my defense and a couple resistances to certain types of damages. Making me harder to hit as well as making it possible for me to shrug off certain damage a lot easier.

Almost a week pass before he was satisfied and believed that I would be ready for the raid. That's when he began to rally his people to do get ready for the raid soon. When he began his preparations I continue to train and made up for my missed days at school. My friends looked at me with concern when I finally came back to class after about a week of staying at home.

But leave it to Akira...... The second that our teacher had to step out for a second; he got over walked up to me and bonked me right upside the head with a magazine that he stole from his brother secret stash and hid in his backpack. He grabbed me by the collar and placed his forehead on my forehead as he mean mugged me, "You haven't been around or said anything in almost a week. What the fuck is wrong with you?! We are supposed to be friends and you don't even tell me that you aren't going to show up to school for a week. The fuck Tatsu?!"

Gokaze laughed at him while Yorichi chimed in, "I second that. We're supposed to be pals and you don't even say that you're okay after you storm out of class. Akira and the girls were worried like crazy. They thought you never come back and they were crying their eyes out for the first couple days you didn't show up."

Lunora gave a sharp elbow to Yorichi's arm and tried to calmly deny it, "Lies. We weren't crying and we weren't making a big deal out of it. We knew you would come back and you just needed space." Her sister spoke honestly, "Well I sure was crying. I thought you would be super sad and angry and you wouldn't want to be friends anymore. That's not something I would want at all."

I was starting to get whiplash from it all, but I started to realize what they were doing. It took the wisdom of a man much older and wiser than he looks just bought what a younger boy could not. Which is why I'm glad that I still have that kind of connection to my past. It helped me to see you then what they were doing in their own way was trying to reassure me that despite being a Godling and knowing what it meant; they were still going to be my friends and they weren't going to treat me any different.

I smiled to myself for a moment and then just told them, "Don't worry I am not going to leave you all lonely. I just needed to calm my head and my dad needed me for some training. I'm better now so what did I miss?"

Milanka smiled and softly spoke in reply, "That's good. I would miss you if you stopped coming around." Gokaze joked with her teasing her slightly, "You girls sure worry a lot about Tatsu. Sure you both don't have a crush on him?" Akira corrected him, "I was worried about him too, remember? It's not some romantic thing it's only natural don't worry about your friends."

Yorichi rolls his eyes at him with a smile laughing slightly under his breath before telling him, "Oh please you two have been friends since you were toddlers. Most of the time the two of your fucking inseparable. Of course you would worry about him. Not to mention pretty boy I'm certain you have your own little crush." Akira snapped back with an unexpected burst of flamboyant and seductive motions walking over to him leaning in and gently tracing his finger along Yorichi's jawline, "Oh honey...... I think you forget I crush on everyone. Succubi blood, remember? My entire body overflows with lust and desire in equal measure for everyone I see. Don't get it twisted." He patted him gently on the cheek just hard enough for it to leave a mark but not enough to actually hurt.

Then our teacher walked back in and we all got back into our seats and continued with class. Class went well and after me and the others started practicing magic together. In 10 years we would be forced to join the army to complete the last 40 years of our education which was military discipline.

The idea about being forced to join the army at a certain age is definitely not appealing to me, but I can also see the benefit in making sure that everyone in the nation is disciplined enough. The only people who don't have to join the army are the disabled which are few and far between in this country thanks to healing magic and alchemy and a bit of old school medicine. Which from what I've seen is slowly progressing along, but could still use a helping hand.

It was becoming a more and more pressing one on my mind as the training continued. My friends were progressing a bit faster than others their age when it concerns learning magic, but they still only knew about 3 or 4 spells at the most. Not to mention it was only the beginners spells that they seem to have gotten the hang of. They needed to start learning more quicker and lucky for me they wanted to learn.

My father eventually came to pick me up from school for one last training session and he saw that I was in the middle of teaching my friends how to cast the spell Electric Slide. The momentary speed boost it provides would be useful for anyone. As he watched some of them actually start to get the hang of it from what I was teaching them; I happened to glance back at him and notice that he seemed a lot more calm and impressed then he had been lately. He has been worrying about my safety the entire time he's been prepping for the raid.

As I looked at my friends and waved them off and just read that my father was there to pick me up; we all started heading home for the day. As I walked over to my father he smiled at me and said, "You make a great teacher. Those spells are something that most kids don't learn until after they've joined the army for at least a decade. Your friends seem to be getting the hang of the type of magic that you're teaching them a lot easier than most kids. I think you're rubbing off on them and motivating them to go further."

I don't think I'm having that much of an effect on them so I respond accordingly, "Doubtful. I don't think that they're trying to following my footsteps, but using my help to go there on the way. Still thanks for the support papa."

He looked at me and motioned to follow, "We will start the raid tomorrow night. Come with me so you can hear the briefing on how we plan to strike."

As I walk with him too the police station I continue experimenting with the spell that I had been trying to learn in passing this last week. With my new-found knowledge and understanding on just how powerful I am and what I can do with it learning magic has started becoming a lot easier for me and it was already easy. Now with my understanding of how science works applied to how magic works and with the strength of the power that; I have I'm able to grasp certain concepts about magic that were harder for me to understand before. It doesn't take me that long to actually learn how to make the spell work, but as to not startle my father I don't quite cast it just yet.

Arriving at the police station he leads me towards the area of the station designated for holding important mission briefings. Immediately the first thing I see is the war table with a map of the northern forest known as the Noromichi Woodlands. As my father motion to the rest of his people to enter into the room as well I got a good look at the base that they were planning to strike from what the map showed. There was only one entrance as it seem to be a mine that had been long since abandoned. However it didn't seem to connect to any of the others in that region of the forest. Outside of making an entrance with magic the only other option would be to go in through the front. Making a new entrance wouldn't be half bad the only problem is we wouldn't know what's inside. Nor will we know if there are guards watching the surrounding area of the forest ready to report.

However I can see that there are names written down on a list next to the map of a recon team that's already been sent ahead. My father placed his hand on my shoulder as the others stood around the table. He asked, "See what I see Tatsu?"

I nod and answer aloud remembering everything he's taught me about tactics, strategy, and combat, "No way in unless we go through the front or we make a new hole, but both post the same risks. I see you sent a recon team which means that you already know that unless we can figure out if they have guards patrolling parts of the forest where the mine is located and inform us ahead of time. We are most definitely going to get spotted no matter which approach we take. Does anyone on the recon team have the ability to summon familiars? Mother has taught me about them, and from what I've read in spell books they would be very useful in this mission."

He nodded with pride seeing that his lesson had sunken in, "Half of the recon team is able to summon familiars. They can send them in and look through their eyes for a little bit in order to give us an idea of what's on in the mine. Once they have information this map will automatically update with the spell that's been placed on it so that will know whatever they find. Including enemy locations, patrols, and what to expect on the inside."

One of the officers spoke up, "Chief are you certain about bringing your kid on the raid? Don't you think that's a bit dangerous for someone his age?"

Father didn't get angry and answered him with a firm stance and complete faith, "Tatsuhiro will be fine. Despite his age he's got a lot of power behind him. Not to mention I've been teaching him how to handle himself in a fight if he can't rely on his magic and he's already starting to catch up to me in skill. So I'm certain he's able to keep up with the rest of you and even out do you in performance on this raid."

Some of them look still worried almost as if they feel like father is just bragging because I'm his son and that he might be exaggerating a bit. If only they knew how much I have lately been holding back in the sparring sessions now that I have a better understanding of what I can do. I'm improving more each day a lot quicker than ever before.

I look at them and I realize this is the case so I tell them my father's shirt sleeve. I request, "Papa maybe it will help if I can show them why they should not worry instead of just hope that they listen. Would this be okay with you?" He takes a moment to look around and see the faces of some of this people and notices what I noticed. He points to the window out to the station's training area, "Fine if it will put worries at ease. Although since you're asking for it I won't hold back as much." The prospect of getting a bit more serious seem to get me pumped.

As we walked out to the training area most of the officers came outside with us. They intrigued to see whatever it was that they had been hearing all this time with their own eyes. The training area was about the same size as the one at home which meant that I had almost a football field worth of space to really get into this. Since he was going to not hold back so much this was the perfect time for me to not hold back as much myself.

My father is a skilled warrior who's technique with a sword was comparable to the level of skill and technique from shows back on Earth that seem too unrealistic to be real. But he made it not only you real but frightening to fight against. He used a variety of fighting styles that he has learned over the years but he always falls back onto his two most used forms. Those being Blood Stance and Battle Stance. Blood Stance essentially forces him to have a tunnel vision focused on dealing as much damage as possible to his target. Battle Stance has similar but it is a much more advanced and much more focused and tactical version meant for those who have shown great skill at being able to keep fighting. He's been learning how to be able to use both stances in a unique tandem but he hasn't quite yet figured it out. Eventually though I feel he will learn how to and then he will be truly dangerous. He also knows the Moon Stance but that's only useful against multiple targets like if he were surrounded.

If he's going to stop holding back so much that means he's most likely going to use Battle Stance instead of Blood Stance. If that's the case then I might as well crank it up to and finally show him that I was able to learn how to tap into the power of the eye. As most of the police officers take up spots far enough away so that they can watch but also not get caught in the crossfire; me and my father meet in the middle. Then walk away from each other about half the length of the field each.

We both are so used to this that we just look in each other's general direction and take deep breaths at the same time count to 3 in our heads and then charge at each other. As I predicted he has already taken up the Battle Stance, so as I get closer to him I focus on drawing out the power of the Eye of Destruction. When he sees it for the first time it causes him to slow down for just a moment which gives me the chance to cast Electric Slide to give myself a speed boost. When he sees this he kicks it into high gear himself and for the first time I see a glimpse at what he's really capable of doing. He's able to move at just under the speed of sound, and if not for me casting the spell just seconds ago I would not be able to keep up with him. And then it begins...... We finally start striking each other. That's when we finally started to see the strengths and limitations of each other.
