Normal has always been unconventional

for it goes against our basic nature

it adheres to the standards of our societies

so we adhere to what is 'normal' only to

blend in with the crowd

not stand out

not look… like freaks

while denying the very core principles that

make us who we are 

— our very nature

and lie to achieve that goal

we look in the mirror and say

so we might fit the unconventional norm

to please the masses while dying inside

because no one wants to be a freak

no one wants to be cast aside

if we're all hiding our truth

behind the 'cover' of normalcy

are we not then all freaks in the end

living a lie, believing into the lie, just

to feel like we aren't all liars

inside?

what's the point then?

if OUR normals and truths are 

so abnormal

why is everyone hiding behind secrets and lies?

why not own our truths and make THAT

our new norm — everyone's norm?

why not grab the reins with both

hands and make 'the unconventional'

a thing of the past?

we are not mistakes. we are not

aberrations.

we exist, therefore we ARE, and have 

every right to live our truth.

one of these days…

even we'll come to realize that.
