In an instant our training swords clash and it becomes clear that he has the upper hand when it comes to strength, but in the moment I'm currently quicker and able to deflect his attack. As I do such he tries to go for a spinning kick which I only barely dodge. Then grabbing him by the leg, I use my momentum as well as my own innate strength to toss him. As he goes flying across the training area he moves his body in a way to not only land on his feet but to do so in a stance ready for the next charge towards me.

Knowing him I need to be precise if I'm going to stand any chance of potentially winning the sparring session. So I finally start putting the I to work by firing off multiple Hydro Beams. I know that fire essentially does nothing to him or mother so relying on it would be pointless when training with either of them. And he knows the same which is why he hasn't used it on me.

But he is able to effortlessly dodge my attacks wall slowly closing distance. I cast the spell Weapon of Winter on my training sword and watch as magical ice coats the wooden sword much thicker than it ever had before now that the eye is doing its job. I prepare for him too go in for strike now that he's within 5ft of me.

To my surprise he instead does a brief motion to kick up dirt and dust around him to obscure vision for just a second however at this speed I'm able to see him as a swift removing blur trying to get behind me. I go into a defensive parry while spinning around to hopefully deflect the strike in time and I only just barely do so. But the strength behind it is enough to send me sliding back about 10ft while still remaining perfectly in my stance.

Now I needed to be able to distract him and catch him off-guard quickly, or else he would surely close the distance and blend a serious blow against me. I immediately used the spell that I had finally figured out on the way here, Moderate Pyro Manipulation. With the spell I made a snake made out of fire wrap around me and pick up all kinds of dirt and dust burning it into a dense black smoke. As my father realized I might be trying his trick against him I caught him off guard by instead using the ability Imbue Arcane which took me a bit to figure out after I learned I had it to improve the sword I was holding. Then for extra effectiveness I summoned into my free hand a blade made out of pure are using the spell Wind Slicer.

When my father moved behind me trying to cut me off from pulling his same trick; being ready to keep me from getting behind him he was slightly confused when I rushed instead. Realizing that I had actually pulled off my momentary deception I went swinging with the Wind Slicer first. Then going in with a side strike from the wooden sword that had now been augmented with both cold and lightning magic. However to my surprise he seemed to be a lot quicker with his reaction then I had anticipated, and he deflected both strikes before kicked me square in the stomach. It sent me flying back about 50ft, but I didn't stay down on the ground for long.

By the time I was back on my feet my father had already closed the distance. Yet I immediately as I rose cast the spell Earthen Uppercut to make a giant fist made out of stone and metal punch him straight in the gut sending him up into the air about 20ft. Which my wings allowed me to quickly reach him and grab him by the leg before I tossed him straight back down to the ground.

I could see from the look in his eyes as he was already back up on his feet; that he was enjoying himself but also taking the fight seriously analyzing my growth. As he flew up into the air to strike at me he seemed to have gotten just a tiny bit faster. It was enough to land a 3 hit combo with his feet and one final hit with his training sword to slam me straight into the pavement. As I got up I looked back at him with that same expression as this was fun testing my own limits and seeing how they match up to him. Right now he was faster and stronger but not by much. The only thing he had over me really that I couldn't find a way to counter or match was his combat experience.

Then I pulled a stunt that shocked him as I used every minor elemental manipulation spell at the same time. When I did this I made a swarm of birds, bugs, and beasts soar through the sky towards him trying to obscure his vision as much as possible. He seemed impressed, but the second he lost line of sight on me I was already up in the air right behind him. With one swing from my training sword which had now been augmented so much and empowered by the eye I hit him with enough power that he fell down to the ground. He started looking very hurt which only seemed to make him happier. I was worried about his safety at that point though. I shouldn't have been because in an instant he closed the distance and punched me square in the face so hard it knocked me out.

When I woke up I was laying down on one of the couches nearby, and the first person I saw when my eyes opened was my mother. My father was continuing the briefing that we had paused earlier. All of the men who looked at me as I came to seemed a lot more at ease with what I can handle. I tried to see how broken my nose was, but I realized it wasn't. Considering that mother was here she most likely use healing magic on me and father both to patch us up after our sparring match like she always does.

I slowly stood up and stretched for moment before walking back up to the table. My father placed a hand on my head and gave me a brief smile to show he was proud of me and how far I've come without having to say it. I smiled to myself slightly and then I focused on the map. It would appear that while I was unconscious we got word back from the scouts and the map had been updated.

Now the map shows at least three patrol routes around the mines that they have identified and about as many people that were in each of those patrols which were only about 3 to 4. It also says that from what the familiars were able to allow them to see there happens to be about 50 men on the inside. In total they're more than double of what the entire police station has available when it comes to officers.

This wasn't going to be an easy mission; not that I had assumed it would be to begin with. Most of the briefing was about who to put where and when to strike and how hard to hit those on the inside. It was a pretty simple but straightforward plan based off of the situation that we found ourselves with and it most definitely could work, so long as there aren't any other surprises that we don't know about.

Father concluded the briefing and the three of us began to head home. As we did mother asked me, "You were out putting a lot of magic earlier. I figured you and your father were sparring so I came to check and it turns out by the time I got here you were unconscious and he looked like he had just got the first serious beating in almost a century. How are you able to use that eye power you have? Do you even know how it works?"

I nod and explain in terms that would make sense to her, "The Eye of Destruction is something I only figured out how to use a week ago properly. From practicing with it it allows me to use nearly 10 times more magic then I actually have. It has allowed me to constantly regenerate lost mana at an accelerated rate so fast that I can dump a lot more power behind each spell. This allows me to increase range, area of effect, duration, and potency by just adding a lot more mana into each spell. When used in tandem with other skills and abilities it can make the difference between victory or defeat against an opponent much stronger than myself."

Father chimed in hearing the explanation and having questions of his own, "So that's how you were able to keep up. You couldn't match my combat experience so you settled for being able to overwhelm me and using a combination of tricks to make up the difference between our skill sets. Am I getting this right?"

I agree, "Yeah basically, but it's not like it helped me win. One good punch and I was out cold."

He laughed and complimented me, "Win or lose you did far better than I ever thought. I'm happy to see that even for your age you're starting to catch up to me and your mama. When you're older I bet you will set the world on fire how strong you can become. All the while I'll be proud of you every step of the way."

A part of me feels happy to hear him say that. The other part still remembers what growing too powerful may lead me to becoming..... Even if it might just be an inevitability at this point.

Getting back home though mother and I start working on dinner. Father makes sure to check on our gear for the raid so that he and I will be fully prepared tomorrow. We will be striking about an hour before dawn, so I would need to get some rest early for the night. After what happened at the precinct they think that I've covered training for the day. Me and mother make a dish that I have started to grow fond of. Grilled Kakoi ribs with baked Gogotuu fish and a side of steamed and seasoned broccoli.

Kakoi were like a cross between a buffalo, a boar, and a deer. They had heads similar to that of wild boar with at least 6 large tusks that can get up to about a full foot long each coming out of their lower jaw. They were large and built similarly to buffalo for their overall body but they had feet like deer with antlers and spotted fur like certain breeds of deer. Their meat when cooked has the same texture as pork, but has a mixture of flavor like beef and venison.

Gogotuu are very interesting looking fish that are the combination of different types of fish that I know of. Their overall bodies are similar in shape to that of a large mako shark. However they have two large fins like that of a manta ray at the front of their bodies. Underneath those large fins are arms similar to that of the mudskipper. Lastly it has a very bright and beautiful scale pattern like a blue mandarin fish. Mother even tells me that in the depths of the ocean some of them even can glow to eliminate their surroundings.

All I know is that they taste like swai fish with the same texture as catfish. The smell they have after they've been baked in just basic salt and pepper is so yummy that it makes my mouth water. My father seems to like it too because by the time he starts to smell it he's made his way back into the kitchen area. He goes to try and sneak a bite only from mother to start swinging her spoon at him. She tries to make sure he doesn't steal anything before dinner is ready.

None-the-less dinner is lovely and I enjoy myself with my family. This is something I would never have thought possible in my past life. My father walked out on us when I was 5 years old because my previous mother was so jealous and so wicked that she claimed he was cheating with every woman in town and would beat him up every single day for no reason. He tried to stay in my life but every time he came around she would chase them off by making such a big scene and even trying to get him arrested. I heard he died around the time I was 28, but I didn't hate him even if he did leave me behind. My previous mother however did not do me any kindness by abandoning me instead she kept me around just to beat me everyday, torturing me, and making me feel worthless. She blame me for everything that went wrong in her life even though she was the reason it had gone so poorly. It took decades to undo most of the trauma she inflicted on me and then I just died.

But I'm kind of happy I got to start over here with these two in this strange world. For the most part I've come to enjoy this world despite its many, many, many oddities and fucked up practices. Here I found everything I was missing.... Family..... Friends..... A home......... I would not trade this for the old life not even for a second.

As I go to bed I look forward to good morning. My dreams are peaceful and when the morning comes I feel my father's hand on my shoulder shaking me awake gently. As I rise I see that he sent my armor and weapons on my dresser top nearby.

I have my morning shower and when I'm done at the end getting dressed in my under armor suit he has provided me. It is a full body suit that is made from a material that is similar to a full body polyethylene fiber skinsuit. Essentially a thinner full-body ballistic suit made for only small firearms rounds from pistols and certain submachine guns. I was actually researching something similar in my past life around the time I had died in the background while I was focused on my main research.

I then put on the armor that he had already gotten me accustomed to wearing. It was odd because it felt like a more modern version of samurai mixed in with medieval knights armor. It was definitely a full plate mail if I had to describe it as anything, but the style was similar yet distinct. Mine was custom made to fit someone my age and it even came with a helmet made specifically for me. Putting it on I could feel the enchantments already going to work to make it me much more protected, but the material itself was also pretty good as it was made from titanium which meant my father's spent quite a lot on it. Despite the fact that should be weighing me down heavily, I could feel that one of the enchantments must be active to make it very lightweight without reducing its protection.

I then grabbed the two weapons he left me. One was a pistol and from what I could see it was definitely a 9mm pistol. At least it was in design which made me feel comfortable however it too had a basic enchantment on it. Infusing electricity into the ammunition when fired to propel it farther and also to shock anyone hit with it as well as piercing them. Like a railgun but if it was also making the ammunition it fired electrified upon contact with a target as well.

The other weapon felt a lot more my style. It was a katana. In my past life I collected these during the decade and a half that I lived in Japan. I would pretend to practice with one back then to live out fantasies. Since coming here and going through training now I can use this real sword with all of the skill that is required to properly master it. It had an enchantment on it as well. The blade seem to be enchanted with electricity as well most likely so that each strike has the potential of stunning my opponent and causing them to fall to the ground as if they had been tased.

I place them in their proper positions on my person and after putting my helmet on I walked out to see my father already downstairs waiting for me. He was fully suited up holding his helmet under his arm. He had a number of healing potions on the table and he already divided them up. 4 for me and 2 for him he figured he would need less since this would be his first time doing the raid like this and he was a lot more capable than I was.
