Zagiilios Chronicles: Tale of the Dragon God

Unmatched Beauty

Unmatched Beauty

Feb 01, 2022

As our eyes stayed locked on each other we stood there in silence for a moment. Then she bow down out of pure respect, but her way of doing so was completely Japanese like how they usually bow when apologizing. She responded in Japanese but thankfully I knew the language so my brain understood what she was saying, "Thank you so much sir. I was scared I would not survive that creature." I bend down and help her up as the bowing makes me nervous. I questioned her in Japanese, "Are you from Earth too?" She seemed to realize that she was speaking a language that shouldn't be known here probably out of a force of habit most likely. She covered her mouth with both hands and her face seem to blush a bright blue color indicating that she was kind of embarrassed.

I asked, "Which part of Nihon were you from?" She looked very sad and answered, "I used to live in Nikko. It is a small town in Tochigi Prefecture in the mountains north of Tokyo. It was famous for its shrines to our Gods. What about you? You know our language. Are you also from Nihon?"

I switch over to English and I asked her, "Do you speak this language as well?" She gave a nod and I explained, "I am not originally from Japan. My time in Nihon was quite long though and I was able to learn most of the language and culture over the time that I spent there. I'm originally from the USA. I'm from a small town in Texas known as Ormend. Also I would suggest that you try and speak English as much as possible; unless where you had been reincarnated they speak Japanese everyone here doesn't. This is the only language that I could tell you right now without knowing much about you that you should speak if you want to be understood."

She looked a bit hopeful seeing that someone from Earth stood in front of her that she could relate with and I kind of felt the same. She asked me curiously in English now then she seemed to speak it pretty fluently, "Do you have a name?" I questioned, "Which one? My new name or my old one?" She replied, "Either...... Both?"

"On this life I am called Tatsuhiro Starcrown. In my past life I was known as Leonidas Ashdrake," I answered.

Her for eyes seem to why didn't in disbelief and with this look of awe struck glory. She seemed impressed, "I've heard about you. Everyone loved to talk about how you or the man who invented genetic alterations and cybernetic arguments to help make people better. A lot of people in the scientific community looked up to you because of your success. It's a shame a lot of religious people said you were evil for what you made. But I'm not like them... I think that your inventions were pretty awesome."

I laughed a little bit and smiled for the first time since before the raid. It was nice to have someone tell me that my work impressed them. Then I realize that I didn't know what to call her, "If you don't mind I'd like to know what your name is as well?"

"Oh sorry.... My old name was Asami Takafukumichi. I don't have a new name though. Slaves where I was reincarnated don't get names unless they become warriors, and women there aren't allowed to become warriors unless they are royals," she explained with a sad expression.

I felt bad for her and requested more information, "You are a slave? Can you tell me about where you come from because there is no record of any species on this world that looks like you?" She looks like she was about to cry but she gave a nod and started to inform me, "We live deep underground. There is a large area deep beneath the surface where there is an underground city that I come from connected to 3 other cities similar to it which all intersect at a large underground lake. It is full of people like me or rather only people like me. Down there slaves are not allowed to speak or do anything unless they are ordered. We are beatened, raped, tortured, humiliated, and even killed if that is what our master's desire. And only the royals can have slaves. It is a nightmare down there so I chose to escape and try and find my way to the surface. That's when I came across that creature and ran into a dead end. Luckily it broke through the walls of the tunnel and I was able to run free until I got here. Where you saved me?"

I responded somewhat worried about her, "Well at least here in the Empire slaves are treated much better and are really more of sexual servants and hired help. But as I said your kind is not known to anyone up here, so most of them would probably see you as some kind of monster if you didn't have protection. I guess it's a good thing that I am the one who found you because I'm not going to let anyone hurt you. After all I can't leave a person in need."

I noticed that she had some injuries on her and I took one of these few healing potions I had left and gave it to her to drink. She looked at it confused, but then I motioned for her to drink it. She seemed cautious at first but she ultimately did drink the potion and watched as her wounds healed up.

She asked me worried, "So what will your protection cost me? I know I'm not from my old life and from this one to be able to tell that nothing comes free."

I laughed and told her the truth, "No clue. I didn't really think of anything that I could want in return. I have thought of several methods of how to keep you safe though. I guess if there must be cost I will let you decide what you'll look to do or pay since you think there must be a price. I'm certain you can find something that you are willing to say is good enough. Especially given the knowledge appalling things are on the surface from what I told you."

She seemed somewhat in disbelief like I was trying to trick her. I couldn't blame her though it sounds like her new life has been nothing short of absolute hell. Instead of trying to disprove or prove my intentions to her I simply looked for if there was food on the tree that I was sleeping under considering the fact I haven't eaten in awhile and I don't that she has either. Seeing that it was an Akkabi tree the large blue apple like fruit hang from it free for the taking. Using my magic I made the branches stretch out to me where I plucked the fruit free.

I gathered at least three of the fruit for each of us. I offered her some to eat so that she could put some food in her belly. We both moved over to sit under the tree by the river watching the beautiful waterfall as we ate the fruit.

As we enjoy the blueberry taste of the fruit and the beautiful sight of the waterfall; she told me, "I will serve." I looked at her confused like I didn't know what she meant.

"If you will keep me safe them I will serve you as a personal maid. In my past life and in my new one I'm used to taking care of the needs of my employers or masters. You said that slaves get treated better here, so I will trust you since I doubt my presence would be accepted any other way," she explained. I looked at her and laughed, "If you want to be my personal assistant fine, but I don't need a slave."

I stood up realizing that it was time I try and get back home and see what happened. I looked to her and held out my hand to help her up. However she mistook this as me holding out my hand to shake on a deal, "I hereby swear to be your loyal servant, so long as you will protect me." I look at her odd and she realizes that I was just trying to help her stand but I do respond, "Then I hereby swear to protect you and help you, so long as you will have me."

I thought to myself for a second about the fact she has no name and she doesn't really seem to like her old name either from how she talked about it. I came up with the perfect name to describe her, "If you need a new name how about..... Hayami. Yes I think that might be perfect for you."

She asked curiously, "Hayami? Why that name?" I informed her, "It means 'rare and unusual beauty'. I felt it was appropriate as a way to describe you. It's better than having no name or a name that you no longer want to be called by."

She doesn't say anything, but I notice the shy smile she gives. She only gives a silent nod of acceptance of this new name. However it doesn't take long before the two of us start to walk our way through the nearby openings to the mines that she came running out of. I cast Electric Slide on myself and offer to carry her in order to get where we're going to have to go quicker.

She climbs onto my back and I hold her firmly. Which is a lot easier thanks to the fact that she has arachnid like qualities of sticking to certain surfaces when she wants to. Then I activate the Eye of Destruction simply to prolong the duration of Electric Slide. I don't want to lose my speed boost when I'm only halfway through the tunnel.

Traveling through the tunnel takes about almost an hour which means that in reality traveling through that tunnel might have taken almost two days without the assistance of magic. As I moved through the tunnel I saw almost 300 corpses that all look like they were killed by me. Some corpses look like they were trampled by the big monster that was chasing after Hayami. I didn't see any sign of my father or his men which made me worried. However that stopped being the case when I reach the other end of the mine to see that the officers had some of their own stationed there just to keep an eye out for me. Some of them are looking over the bodies to make sure I'm not one of them.

As I approach slow down enough for them to actually see that it's me I noticed another one of those big monsters similar to the one I killed saving Hayami. It looks like the officers all killed this one. "Hey Tatsu! Glad to see you are alive. Your dad will be so happy. Wait what the hell is that you have with you," one of the officers proclaim before stepping back in shock at seeing Hayami.

I sit her down and reply, "This is Hayami. She is my new servant." She waves and bows slightly out of respect.

One of the other officers places his hand on his gun which makes me slightly change my stance ready to stop them from hurting her. They question me nervously, "Where did you even find that thing?" I glare at them all with malice and the Eye of Kings appears above my head. I didn't know any of them enough to not want to fight them in case things went that way. I definitely wasn't about to let any of them hurt the only person I've met with any connection to Earth. I do not give enough order but I do give a warning, "I saved her from one of the same creatures that you all clearly fought. I made a promise to keep her safe and if any of you think about hurting her look at the corpses around you that you'll become if you even try."

Saying that made the other officers nervous and some of them started to shake. The air was tense and it was clear they didn't know where to stand down or prepare to fight me. My father's sword and my own rested on my hip. As I was about to reach for it it flew off of my hip and through the tunnel. This seemed to shock me and all of the officers there.

Then we saw who it flew to and we all seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as my father caught his blade and placed it at its proper place on his waist. He looked fully healed and he even had a new arm; most likely an advanced healing spell made him a new one. He walked up to everyone and ordered us all, "Stand down. No more fighting for anybody. I heard everything as I walked up. So let's see this creature worth spilling blood over."

He manifested a ball of fire over his head simply to create a light source to see better. He walked up to me and Hayami and looked her over. She seemed very frightened of him and everyone so she tried to cower behind me. I slowly moved between them and gave him a look that conveyed how I was more than willing to fight to keep her safe. This caught his eyes and made him more curious. He noticed her rags for clothes and poorly maintained hair and the fact that dirt covered a decent portion of her body. He saw the slight signs of malnutrition that I had noticed that had started to set in. I could tell that he could see in her what I saw.

He smiled at her and looked back at his men, "It's alright men. She is no threat she's just a frightened little girl. Finish checking the area and then head home." They all nervously nodded and move to a different part of the tunnel passageway looking for other things.

He turned his attention back to me and grabbed me by the horn. He picked me up and shouted, "What were you thinking?! Charging off like that! YOU COULD HAVE BEEN HURT BADLY OR WORSE!!!! Do you understand how stupid it was for you to do that?! You ran off with out backup or a plan! Just going berserk like some undisciplined brute!! I TAUGHT YOU BETTER THAN THAT!!!!! You were trained and raised better than that! If the others didn't drag me out of here because I wasn't in any condition to fight; I would have came right after you and smacked some sense into you. I've been nearly on the verge of a heart attack worried about you for the last day you've been gone! You are coming home now and that is final! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME???!!!!!"

I just hug him very tightly and start to cry a little, "I'm so happy you are okay." He still seemed angry but he soon calmed down enough to hug back. He held me so close and he seemed relieved to see that I was alive and well.

I apologized feeling I let him down, "It my fault you got hurt. I wasn't strong enough to stop them in time. I wasn't paying attention to everything around me either that's why I didn't notice when the stalactites were beginning to fall. I'm so sorry I failed you and you got hurt."

He seemed confused, "Wait what.........? No..... No. You didn't let me down. You did beyond what I thought you could even handle. I'm the one who messed up. I didn't do enough to make sure we had the accurate information on the number of people and the type of people that had made this place there smuggling setup. If I had made sure we had much better info on what we were dealing with I could have prepared us better and that would have never happened. Don't ever blame yourself for my failings as a leader. You may have lost your cool and gone off on the deep end, but it's not for you we might not have actually made it out of here at all. None of us ended up getting killed and that's what really matters. Just don't scare me like that."
