“It’s. . .too. . .ti. . .ght. . .” Caroline said, trying to speak. She was wearing a white wedding dress with thin straps and a ruffled top and skirt.
The lady that was helping Caroline put on the dress seemed to not have heard her. She began tightening the dress a little more.
“Ma’am, she said it was ‘too tight’,” Bethany said, trying to get the lady’s attention.
“In border to look her best she must nah be bable to breathe,” the lady said through a mouthful of pins, tightening the dress one last time. “There much better,” the lady said, removing the pins from her mouth.
Caroline stood in front of the mirror looking at the way the dress fit perfectly on her. The dress showed off her curves without making them seem disturbing to others. The white dress contrasted perfectly with Caroline’s honey skin.
“It’s perfect,” Caroline said under her breath, amazed by how well it looked on her.
“Awesome, I will go grab the bride’s maid of honor’s dress,” the lady said, glancing at Bethany and then walking away to go find the dress.
“You look beautiful in that dress, Caroline,” Bethany said once the lady left the room.
“Thank you,” Caroline said, still staring at herself in the mirror.
“What is your color scheme for the wedding?” Bethany said.
“Pink, white, and red,” Caroline said, turning to face Bethany. “The bridesmaids are wearing pink dresses, but I thought you wouldn’t like to wear pink and the Bride’s maid of honor is supposed to wear a different color dress so you are going to wear a red dress.”
“Thanks,” Bethany said.
“Your welcome, I also thought red roses would look beautiful next to the light pink roses in my bouquet.”
“Your wedding is going to look amazing.”
“I know,” Caroline said. “I just wish I was marrying the love of my life instead of yours.” Caroline then looked down at the floor.
“You and I both,” Bethany said.
“I hope you know that I have no feelings for Ethan,” Caroline said. “I wish I could marry Dylan instead.”
“Thanks for saying that it means a lot to me,” Bethany said.
“You're welcome, I just wanted to be honest with you about my feelings. You are my best friend and I would not want to steal your man.”
“You know you could tell your father that you want to marry Ethan’s brother instead. You would still be marrying your father’s best friend’s son.”
“That is true. I just don’t know how to tell him.”
“Maybe tell him over dinner. Say, ‘Father, I know you want me to marry Ethan, but what if I want to marry his other son.’ That way it seems like you’re not backing out of the wedding and you’re still going to marry the love of your life.”
“I don’t know. . .I’ll try though,” Caroline said, stepping away from the mirror and walking towards Bethany. “Thanks, Bethany. You're the best.”
“You're welcome anytime,” Bethany said, pulling Caroline into a hug.
The lady then walked into the room carrying a one shoulder, silk red dress. “Here is your dress. Why don’t you go try it on?” The lady then handed Bethany the dress.
“Yes ma’am. Thank you,” Bethany said, taking the dress and heading towards the dressing room.
