I walked back into the fast-food place. I quietly sat down without saying a word to anyone. I didn't want Conner to come, and I surely didn't want anyone to take Daisy. I called Ezra and Lizzie only, and there was a specific reason. I heard the big sliding doors open. Conner walked in smiling at Ezra, thinking we were having some reunion. Conner walked over and hugged Ezra, and nodded at Lizzie. I scowled and turned my head.
When he finally finished admiring Ezra and made his way to look at me. I felt his eyes pierce the back of my head before rolling my eyes again. "Hey, Vee?" he croaked, sounding low on coffee. I didn't move my head or look at him. I stood up and went to order two coffees. I shoved the coffee in Conner's hand when I came back and sat down with mine. I didn't look at any of my friends before continuing to scroll through Instagram on my phone.
"Hey, Vee? Come on! Lighten up. It's just Connor," Ezra tried to reassure me. "It's just Connor. You're right. Let's ignore the fact that I asked only the girls to come. Yeah, let's do that." I retorted, feeling my heart turn black. I hated treating my friends, but I hated how I was barely paying any attention to Daisy. She was happily on her iPad eating the 30 dollars of food I had bought her to ignore us. Connor looked hurt. Pfft. He should have seen the emotional wreck I was before running into Lia in the bathrooms.
I turned my head and saw Lia walkout. She was smiling at me. Little did that trick know that her demise would be coming soon. I turned my head back to the table. "I'll be back," I scoffed and walked out of the restaurant. I went over to my car and opened it. I almost cried when I saw my reflection in the mirror. My hair was unbrushed and looked oily. My face was ashen and washed out. I tried to smile to myself, but my mouth refused. I went into my backpack, grabbed a dry shampoo bottle, and sprayed it in my hair.
I grabbed a hairbrush from the glove compartment and brushed my hair back to normal. I put it in a messy bun and got in my car. I closed the door and just stared at myself in the mirror. I didn't feel like Violet at all. I always wondered why my mother named me that. I felt wilted and limp. I sighed, got out of the car, and made my way back to Burger King. I felt a stinging in my arms and looked down.
My arm had blood dripping from them. I looked at my overgrown nails and started feeling light-headed. I was in the middle of the parking lot. I didn't mind the sight of blood, but the dried-up blood underneath my fingernails made me gag. My head started spinning; I felt massive amounts of blood dripping from my arm. Everything went black, and I felt myself falling. I collapsed onto the hard cement and passed out.
