Dark thoughts, come they in the light of day, 

and bright cries of eureka, in the darkness of night

Whispers lurk behind sunbeams, blinding, 

so bright, so white,  it scares me.

I stalk the day.

Prowl disquieted beneath the 

constant onslaught of daylight

beating down like an abusive lover

I dance at night.

Twirling, spinning, freeing my essence, 

my soul 

trapped within this meat sack

of flesh and blood and bone

I ache for release.

In the quiet times. In the noise. In the moments I 

am without 

you 

and left to my own

dark musings, and twisted revelries

of my barely beating heart

The night… welcomes me — 

— as the day casts me out.

I crawl into the darkness, covered in blisters

and barely healed scars… for I am home

This darkness cradles me 

in its loving

E M B R A C E

sheltering me from the repeated

abuse, the repeated disdain.

Eyes wide open, I can finally see again.

The burning subsides, and what once was

blind now sees. I am whole. I

am myself at last.

Flesh heals, eyes see, darkness illuminates

I am free.
