The water trickled out of the water can and onto the tulips growing in the garden. Bethany looked over her shoulder to see if anyone was outside with her. She saw no one. She turned her attention back on the watering can and began watering the roses.
A little while later, Bethany heard a car engine and the sound of tires on the road in front of the house. Bethany turned her head to face the street with curiosity.
A few seconds later, Bethany saw a black limo freshly clean and sparkling in the sunlight. The limo turned into the driveway.
“That’s weird. Mr. Carswell didn’t say anything about guests coming over while he was going into town for work,” Bethany said nervously biting her lower lip.
A tall man in a black suit and black sunglasses stepped out of the front seat and ran to the back of the limo to help someone get out of the back seat.
An older man in a black suit with dark brown hair slicked back stepped out of the back of the limo. Bethany recognized the man immediately. It was Sir Williams, Bethany’s father’s advisor.
Sir Williams walked up to Bethany. “Your highness, I found you,” Sir Williams said bowing.
“Sir Williams!” Bethany said, ignoring the bow and giving him a hug. Bethany began to shed a few happy tears.
“My have you grown,” Sir Williams said, looking Bethany up and down. “I’ve looked everywhere for you. We finally hacked into this village’s system and found your name registered under this house’s address.”
“I’ve missed you so much,” Bethany said, holding Sir William's hands in her’s, noticing little wrinkles in Sir Williams’ smile.
“We must get you back to the palace,” Sir Williams said suddenly very serious.
“I can’t leave without saying goodbye,” Bethany said.
“Of course. Run inside and say your goodbyes. There is much to do.”
“I can’t leave. I met this really nice guy. . .”
“Then bring him with you. We have not a moment to spare.”
“Thank you so much! I will go pack and get ready,” Bethany said, hugging Sir Williams one last time before running inside.
Bethany ran down the hall and into her room to see Ethan standing there.
“What are you doing? You’re not supposed to be in here,” Bethany said, suddenly confused.
“My father is not here and the wedding is called off,” Ethan replied.
“What do you mean?” Bethany asked, even more confused.
“Caroline talked to her father and now she’s marrying Dylan.”
“That’s great!” Bethany said, forgetting why she was in here.
“Why were you running so fast to get to your room?” Ethan asked, concerned.
“Oh, right. I forgot. How do I tell you? Oh, I know!” Bethany began, sitting down on her bed. Ethan said down next to her, listening very closely. “You know how I’m a princess who was kidnapped?” Ethan nodded. “Well. . .my father’s advisor found me and he’s standing right outside for me!”
“Really?!” Ethan asked, confused.
“Really, and I asked him if you could come with me and he said yes!” Bethany said, excitedly.
Ethan scratched behind his head and looked at the floor.
“What’s wrong?” Bethany asked, suddenly confused.
“I can’t just leave,” Ethan said. “My father would be worried.”
“We’ll tell your father everything. He’ll understand.”
“That’s just it, he won’t,” Ethan said growing angry, running his fingers through his hair.
Bethany jumped back a little scared.
“I’m sorry, I can’t go,” Ethan said.
“It’s ok, we’ll work through this. . .” Bethany began.
“No! I don’t want to work through this! I’ve made up my mind! You can’t just expect me to run away from all my responsibilities just to be with you!” Ethan yelled, scaring Bethany even more. She had never seen him like this before.
“Well, ok then. Goodbye,” Bethany said, grabbing a few of her things and heading out the door of her room. Bethany began to tear up.
“Wait. . .Beth. . .I didn’t mean it like that,” Ethan said following her outside.
A few seconds later, Bethany had all her stuff in the trunk and she was saying ‘goodbye’ to Dylan and Caroline.
“I’m going to miss you so much! Make sure you call me every once in a while. Also, make sure you call me when you get there,” Caroline said, pulling Bethany in and out of a hug.
“Thanks, Bethany, for everything you have done for us,” Dylan said, standing off to the side.
“You’re welcome. Bye guys,” Bethany said, stepping into the limo.
“WAIT! BETH! DON’T GO!” Nick said, running towards the limo and jumping into Bethany’s arms.
“Whoa! I’m going to miss you so much, Nick,” Bethany said, hugging Nick tightly. A few tears escaped Bethany’s eyes, but she quickly brushed them away. “Here Caroline. Take good care of Nick for me,” Bethany said, putting Nick into Caroline’s arms. “Bye everyone!”
The limo turned to life and slowly began to turn onto the street.
“WAIT!” Ethan said, starting to run after the limo.
Bethany turned around in her seat to see Ethan running after them.
“Please stop the car!” Bethany said, nearly throwing herself out of the still moving limo. The limo slowly came to a stop.
Bethany ran to Ethan. “What’s the matter?” She said,
“Please, don’t leave me. I can’t live without you. You make everyday more happier than the last. You also make me feel things I’ve never felt before and I want these feelings to keep going,” Ethan got down on one knee before Bethany.
Bethany cupped her hands over mouth as Ethan pulled out a classic gold ring with a pearl in the center surrounded by small diamonds.
“I know I can’t offer much sense, you're a princess and everything, but I can offer you my love. I will never love another girl as much as I love you,” Ethan said. “Will you make me the luckiest man in the entire world and marry me?”
Bethany nodded, “Yes. . .yes, of course!” Bethany ran over to Ethan and wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. “I love you,” Bethany said, kissing him.
“I love you too,” Ethan said, pushing the ring onto Bethany’s ring finger. He then stood up and picked her up to spin her around.
“Whoa!” Bethany said laughing as she was lifted into the air.
“I’m sorry about our fight earlier,” Ethan whispered into Bethany’s ear.
“I’m sorry too. I shouldn’t have rushed you like that,” Bethany said, shaking her head.
“It’s ok,” Ethan said, kissing Bethany on the cheek. She let out a small giggle.
A few minutes later, Dylan, Caroline, and Nick had caught up to Ethan to see him holding Bethany in his arms.
“I see y’all made up,” Dylan said.
“Oh my goodness! Is that a ring!” Caroline running up to Bethany and picking up her hand to inspect her ring.
“It is,” Bethany said.
“We’re both getting married!” Caroline said excitedly.
“Took him long enough,” Nick said grunting.
“What do you mean?” Everyone asked, looking at Nick.
“I knew y’all liked each other since I was a baby. I noticed the way y’all looked at each other. I knew it wasn’t long before Ethan got on one knee and Dylan too,” Nick said all knowingly.
“Wow,” Bethany said.
Sir Williams stepped out of the limo. “Is there a problem? What’s going on?”
“Oh! Sorry Sir. I completely forgot you were here. I just got engaged!” Bethany said, smiling from ear to ear.
“Congratulations. We must go soon,” Sir Williams said, still sounding serious.
“Thanks. I understand. Well. . .bye everyone!” Bethany said hugging everyone one last time.
“Hold on one minute. I’m coming with you,” Ethan said and then ran to go inside.
A few minutes later, Ethan came out holding two suitcases.
“I packed a few more things,” Ethan said, putting the suitcases into the trunk.
“Now are we ready to go?” Sir Williams asked.
Bethany looked at Ethan and he nodded. “Yes we are,” She said nodding.
“Y’all can sit in the back. I will sit in the front with the driver,” Sir Williams said walking to the front seat.
Everyone got back in the car and shut the doors. The car started to move again going into the street following it until going to Bethany’s castle.
“Are you sure you want to come live with me in the castle?” Bethany asked Ethan.
“I’m sure,” Ethan said.
“I will probably be busy a lot because of the coronation and queen duties.”
“That’s okay. I can still steal you away from everyone.”
Bethany giggled as Ethan kissed her cheek.
“Queen life here I come,” Bethany said uneasily.
