8:19am
Angelina slowly opened her tired and pained eyes, vision blurring a bit as she tried to sit up before noticing the leather belt-like restraints... she was still in the surgical ward, restrained to a hospital bed. Angelina lifted her head up a bit, looking at her left arm to see two rather large black and purple bruises marking her skin where two of the painful injections had been stabbed into her. Angelina's eyes then travelled down to her left leg, slowly lifting it up a bit to see the same bruise as horrid pain shot through her leg. It was one thing to have a fear and hatred for needles before ending up in this hell hole, but haunting screams of children echoing throughout the ward made it all seem horribly worse, more or so... the travelling footsteps right outside the door of the room Angelina was currently in. There was a single knock before the door opened and revealed Dianne, looking down at her clipboard "Dr Gar-" Dianne froze, dropping her clipboard once seeing the girl strapped onto the bed "A-Angelina...? why-" "Dianne, please!" the girl begged whilst on the urge of tears. "Please help..." Angelina begged yet Dianne was too shocked, all she can do was step back out the door and in doing so, Angelina's eyes widened a bit "No wait, Dianne-" Dianne bolted, unable to handle such sight whilst the girl continued to yell out to her "Dianne! wait- come back!". Tears started to roll down the girl's face... her only chance of getting help or escaping, gone. The only person who could've helped her was now currently running away from her... because she asked for help.
..."Angelina, trust me- Dianne's the only person in here we can trust". Angelina raised a brow "How would you-" "She's only a children's therapist, she hasn't been told the actual reason why we're all here-"... Angelina angrily signed, closing her eyes in defeat as tears continued to roll down her face. How foolish she felt to trust a random kid she's never met before, to believe that Tom's words were true- that she could trust Dianne... how could she be so stupid? 'She could've been lying to him just to get his trust' Angelina thought but quickly shook off that assumption. No, the way that Dianne reacted just a few moments ago... she didn't expect to see anything like this- she doesn't know the actual reason why we're all in here, why us kids fight back against the soldiers 'escorting' us to our next 'vaccination'. "Dianne Thompson!" Angelina yelled out as loud as she could "Please! Dianne!" a second later, the girl broke out into tears, crying out instead of yelling "Help! please... help us-" "The fuck are you doing?" a doctor snapped, walking into the surgical room as Angelina immediately froze up, crying a bit more. "Shut the fuck up, why don't ya?" the doctor suggested, carrying in a small tray with about six new needles in it "None of us want to be here, so make it easier for all of us and just keep your fucking mouth shut" the doctor told her, sitting down in the chair by the bed Angelina laid on. "Should be fucking grateful that experimental vaccines is all you get and that they're not making us turn this place into another version of Hayes Creek" he mumbled, picking up one of the needles and reading the label on it "H-Hayes Creak...?" the girl questioned yet immediately received a glare from the man beside her "None of your fucking business...yet- mind your own shit" he snapped before injecting the needle into the girl's arm.
Dianne ran down several corridors, tears of her own threatening her eyes whilst she ran. 'No... this can't be- we're not doing this to them, we're not-' Dianne's thought was interrupted as a sudden jolt of pain shot through her back. Dianne immediately stopped running, leaning against the wall beside her for balance, perfectly earning the attention of a soldier turning into the corridor. He immediately rushed over to Dianne "Dr Thompson- you alright?" the soldier asked as Dianne looked up at him "Brown, you don't need to worry-" "Sorry doc, but you're clearly not fine" the soldier stated "And you don't need to call me by the last name either, it's James-" "And we're on grounds of the Grey Army, therefore we use last names with the soldiers" Dianne reminded him. "Still... you hurt or something?" James questioned as Dianne lightly placed her left hand on her lower back "No, I'm alright" Dianne assured him... lies. She was beyond tired, her back feels as though it was about to snap, her feet was killing her too. "Dia- Dr Thompson, please... at least let me take you to the infirmary" James insisted yet again, Dianne refused "I'm fine, I just need to talk to Dr Ruins about something regarding my work" Dianne told James. "Okay well... would you like me to help you to his office-" "Thank you, James... but really, you don't have to be overly nice to me" Dianne said, slowly walking around James as he signed "Dianne... at least know that you can be honest with me" James told her before walking off down the corridor as Dianne headed in the opposite direction, choosing to ignore James' words.
Eventually, Dianne made it to Alex's office yet raised a brow once immediately noticing that Alex's assistant was gone 'She's always here...' Dianne thought as she walked over to the door of Alex's office and once she went to knock, she froze at the muffled voices on the other side of the door. "So what's the real reason why you called me in here cuz I know you're not one for small chit-chat" a voice stated... it belonged to Dianne's supervisor 'Why? why is Dr Bizarn in there?' Dianne panicked "I wanted to talk to you about Dianne Thompson" Alex's voice answered. Dianne panicked a bit more, dead froze in her spot as she listened "What about Miss Thompson?" Bizarn questioned 'Miss Thompson? he's always called me Dr-' "To remind you of her purpose of being here" Alex's answer interrupted Dianne's thought. "Dianne may be a children's councillor and therapist, but she was only taken in to work at this base to calm and care for the children" Alex stated "No other reason, just to keep the children under control and calm enough for each round of treatment" Dianne's face turned from confused and scared to absolute anger and disgust. 'Seriously?! that's my worth to him?' Dianne lowered her hand as it balled up into a fist whilst she glared at the door, continuing to listen in "I don't understand why I need to be reminded" Bizarn stated, his words irritating Dianne even more 'You've got to be kidd- they've all been told this, haven't they?'. Of course, Dianne was beyond angry, she was absolutely pissed, especially pissed off with Alex since- "Dianne needs to start having one-on-one council meetings with Block A's children" Alex stated "They've been the ones showing the most restraint and often try to fight their way out of going through each treatment". Dianne's brows frowned 'That's the ward Angelina's in...' Dianne reminded herself "After tomorrow's round of treatments, she'll start her one-on-one counselling, patients 4N63L and TØM45 will have their treatments first up" Alex stated as Dianne turned and walked away from the door, walking back out into the corridor and heading as quickly as she could to her own office.
'Angelina and Tomas are first up tomorrow, I'll try talking to one of them-' Dianne froze mid thought as she realised what she had done 'I left her... when she was so obviously asking for my help' Dianne hated herself now... instead of helping a child escape the torture, she ran like a coward. She thought about herself and ran instead of acting and doing the right thing.
