Martin called me
“Are you coming?” His voice sounded different over the phone.
“Where?”
“Plaza”
“Are you?”
“Yeah”
“I’ll go, pick me up.”
“Okay, I’ll get going now,” I remembered to ask about his Zodiac sign.
“Wait, what's your sign?”
“What sign?”
“Zodiac”
“Scorpio, November. Why?” He’s the same as Cassey.
“Nothing”
“What’s yours?”
“Virgo, September. My mother is too.”
“So you’re OC.”
“No, I'm very chill. Come pick me up, and don't be late.”
“Yeah sure, chill.” We laughed and I cut the line.
He arrived on a bike, skateboard strapped on his back, two dripping popsicles on his hand.
“I thought you’re skateboarding,” I said.
“You said to pick you up.”
“It’s an expression.”
“Anyway, popsicle,” he handed me a dripping watermelon-shaped popsicle. He licked those that dripped on his fingers.
“Thanks, I’ll tell mom I’ll get going.”
When I returned he finished his watermelon popsicle.
“Hop on,” I sat on the back of his bike.
“Okay.”
The wind played with his hair, I remembered the day we met.
“This is the reverse of the day we met,” I said.
“Thank you for the ride back then.”
“No problem. Where did you buy those popsicles?”
“Kaia made them. She liked your brownies even though I hogged most of it.”
“Shit, she’s like very good, and thank you for the compliment. I'll bake you a whole tray next time.”
“Shit thanks. I'll finish it all.”
“Shit, share with your family too.” We laughed at that.
I felt the sun and wind all over my body. I felt his laugh vibrate all over him, and I felt mine vibrate too.
