Pain.

The throbbing sensation in his chest would not cease. Sweat cascaded down his face, from his brow trailing down his tan cheek, and onto the red-soaked floor.  His shoulder dripped that same red liquid that down to loiter on the ground. He could barely raise his left arm, the shoulder gave off such an awful ache that made the man unable to fully grasp his weapon.

Despair.

Thoughts traveled through his mind, nothing positive settled within the consciousness of the man. Nothing but only a strong lingering captious feeling, that brought forth the negative emotions. ‘Will he make it out alive?’ ‘Will my friends be okay?’ Will we Win?’ Will he win?’ ‘What if we lose?’ ‘We already lost one….our strongest ally.’ ‘I. don’t want to die…..’

Death.

His hands gripped onto the worn-out leather of his pommel; he brought his gaze upwards away from the blood that had flooded his area. The scent of metallic discharge and ashes was all he smelled, but his eyes saw so much horror that he could not even scream out, his vocal cords choked out. His grip tightened as he saw his comrade’s bodies littered on the ground. Soulless husks of the once fun-loving individuals they were. Now Gone. For what?

Anger.

His eyes moved from the bodies towards the one who did it. The Man that started all of this. The very man who brought so much pain, despair, and death to the country. The Man stood there with a closed-eye smile. “Tell me, Daniel.” The Man said, his arm moving around, showcasing the massacre. “Your friends thought killing me was the way to stopping me… But- that doesn’t seem to be the case, tell me. What’s Plan B?” he asked with false warmth. Daniel only felt rage towards that man, he bravely ignored the pain within his shoulder, he ignored the feeling of despair, he even ignored the deaths of his comrades. All he felt was Anger. Like hot, dark tar.

Savior.

“The Plan… Akari… was not to kill ….you…” rasped out Daniel, releasing his pommel. Walking towards The Man, there was no pain in his legs, as he forced his left arm to reach into a pocket to pull out an orb. A golden beautiful encased globe. Akari tilted his head as his eyes gazed upon the item. “How do you have that?” he asked, unfazed. “Queen Onyx gave it to me…..” Daniel said. At the mention of the Queen’s name, Akari’s snide smile faltered. Daniel refrained from smiling, but any hopes of a smile were destroyed as he felt a sharp stinging sensation. A spear was thrown into his back and Daniel felt the weight topple upon him as his sight blurred to black. He fell onto his knees, giving a cry of pain as he sprayed a crimson color poring out of his back. His body crashed down as he remained upon the ground, wanting to get up but can not.

His eyes saw black boots, then he saw the individual crouched down. The man wearing nothing but black, his cloak now covering his blood-soaked boots. His long black hair moved down over his shoulder, as he reached his arm out towards the golden orb. Yet the man brought his blood-red eyes, those cursed eyes, towards Daniel’s own green eyes. Akari gave a closed eye smile as he rose back up holding the orb, rocking back on the heels of his feet. That was until there was light, scorching bright light. Daniel gave a laugh, regretfully coughing up some blood. Akari froze and stared at Daniel, as if trying to pry open his brain with the sheer force of his eyes. “What… is this?” he hissed. “I……. had………some……….help………” Daniel coughed out, more crimson spattering the mans boots. Akari dropped the orb and quickly raised his scorched hand, shadows coming from behind him and aiming to cover the orb. Yet, despite their efforts, it was too late.

The Golden light started to cover the shadows and grabbed onto Akari’s arm dragging him towards the orb. The light started to grow as Akari spoke in a language no one could understand, but it was clear he was in disdain. The Light traveled along his entire body, wrapping him from the bottom and eventually the top. Not a single spec of hair was seen, and soon, the Light vanished. Daniel looked to see that Akari was no more. He gave a smile as he closed his eyes. I have succeeded. The mans last thoughts were of satisfied, wistful peace. Unaware of the future adulation that would follow long after. A deed clearly recalled.

Daniel Turo

“And that is how our Hero, Daniel Turo, Sacrificed his life, to defeat the evil Dark Mage, Akari. “said the old lady of the village. The small group of children cheered as the story was finished. Their cheers filled the air as well as individuals talking, and the overall joyous day of the festival. The festival when an everyday commoner had fought against a powerful man, 300 years ago. It was joyous until, the story repeated, passed down and down. One mans sacrafice forever remembered, never forgotten.

“Well. That was a wonderful story, Ma’am.” Came an unknown male adult voice.  “Well thank you, son, I try-“ the old lady started her thanks until her eyes noticed the individual, tall long black hair, and he wore all black. But that is not what caused her to stop. It was his eyes, only one individual in the entire world had those red crimson eyes.

One man, one man?

Slain by commoners hand.

Light overcame, shadows came to blame

Akari, he is dead!

“….You….” she gasped out. Disbelief shading wrinkles on her face. The man gave a closed eye smile, reminicant of the one...what, three hundred years ago.“ Ma’am it is rude to address someone as ‘you’ I do have a name, and that would be....” He raised his hands as the shadows from the ground rose, creating hellish creatures all with blood-red eyes in the black of the shadows. The apparent lack of effort, the glinting blood eyes.

     “Lord Akari.”

I like that prologue, where it goes "One man, one man? Slain by commoners hand." It has a nice rhythmic tone.
