Where is he you may ask? Well, despite my powers I can’t tell you anything simply because we weren’t destined to meet… at least not yet.
A familiar suffocating presence fills the air. That’s when I knew I was back on the right track. She’s been here! And she could still be here.
Every ounce of my being gets excited at the mere thought of meeting her.
I guessed I could suppress such feelings this time around because I knew the feeling of having Annikka but sure enough, time is what determines love.
Those who have been with you for a shorter while, you’ll forget in a short time. But those who’ve entangled with you for a lifetime, as much as you want to deny your feelings and not be attached, they keep on knocking on the door of your heart to reclaim their rightful place.
I’m spacing out again, you say? Well let me tell you that if you’ve lived a lifetime before and every second, every moment feels like deja vu, your mind will also always be left wondering like mine.
Let me reveal to you a memory of us.
The first time I met her I was unsure of who she is. At the beginning of the apocalypse the only ones who survived, as far as to my knowledge, is some of my batch mates and instructors. I was the only survivor from our class so I’ve been quite lonesome.
I first saw her tending to a cat who’s lost its bell. I have it in my arms and as the cat jumped down from her arms to get back its bell, her eyes met mine. And that’s the finest moment of human interaction that I’ve had for a while.
“Is this your cat?” I asked. “No one‘s free enough to adopt a cat in these trying times,” was her reply.
“If you don’t want it, I can have it.” Was really what I thought at that time. It’s kind of pathetic that I’ll steal a companion from someone else just because of my lonesomeness but can she blame me? Even speaking to a cat who won’t understand my daily worries and hopes is better than speaking to none.
“We can take care of it both.” And that’s how I gained a companion, not just one but two.
