“I do.” I heard an audible gasp from the mouth of the said person. Charles is furious. And even Annikka has her brow scrunched in disapproval. There’s hope rekindled in Ivy’s eyes and she looks at me expectantly. Upon saying that I shocked even myself.
“Is that really the truth?” Ivy asks with a hopeful tone.
“Unluckily for me, it is.” Annikka answers her with a solemn tone.
She looked at me straight in the eye and said, “Unluckily for you also, we would have to break up. I can’t tolerate being in a relationship with someone who likes someone else.”
“I’m sorry,” is the only thing I can say as I’m guilty of the thing she’s accusing me of.
“I’m so tired. Can you stop with all the drama?” One of the guys, Ezekiel says.
“I can’t wait to be out of here.” I overheard Annikka’s whisper.
We were the 4th pair to do the demonstration and as the 5th and last pair finished their demonstrations, the walls of our classroom began to show signs of dissociation.
“Finally we can get out of here and explore,” Ivan says.
A flash of light fills my vision but unlike before there are no hands grasping mine. Charles has his protectively around Ivy’s. And though she’s looking at my way, I could tell she wasn’t looking at me. Afterall who would want to go back to a man who has rejected you twice?
The distance between me and Nikay widens, she’s even holding her hands up as if she’s scared I’d grasp it. I don’t think I’ve totally lost her yet but I know I have to work hard to earn her approval once more.
