A murder staring with their beady eyes as they waited for a moment to eat the scraps. Normally, she wouldn’t care too much, but even these humans didn’t deserve to be food for crows.
All of sudden blood lust filled the air making it suffocating, even the crows started to make a fuss. Seconds slowed into minutes as the standoff between the two continued.
“Come out of hiding!”
Frightened by the sudden scream, the birds rapidly flew around the place. The ground was now littered with the ink feathers of the crows. Quickly, the man covered his face from the crows who were in a frenzy.
When he removed his hands again, she
stood a few metres away from him under the glow of the moon.
It was a stupid move but Celest was running out of ideas. If she was going to die, she was going to make delay it as much as possible.
Not a cloud in sight. Long pearly hair danced in the breeze as the rest of the flock returned to high up; perching in the trees and broken half collapsed roofs. He gulped as he met those cold dead eyes that sent even him a shiver down his spine. She smirks, showing off pointed teeth that could tear a throat right open. And her ears…
She wasn’t human either. No, she was like him but…
“Where was all that bloodlust now? Man, you aren't so scary up close,” she stuck out her tongue at the last part.
‘Huh?’ The poor man was just confused. His eyes wander up and down studying the child before him.
“My name is Celest nice to meet you, '' she grinned as she held out her pale smooth hand. What was she doing? She had no clue. She may be cocky but even she knows not to pick a fight with someone way powerful than you. Would he probably kill her? Possibly, but if there is a chance, he doesn’t just murder her right now she would take it.
“Your name means heavenly,” he burst out laughing, “heavenly! Who in their right mind would name a monster that?”
“Hey, I'm very much a heavenly girl. I'll let you know.” She glared at the man.
“A murder is heavenly?” he stifled his laugh as he glanced at her.
“Umm, a very heavenly murder.”
“Sure. Well, the name is Erix,” the girl before him wasn’t too much of a threat but you never judge someone by first glance.
“So, what made you go on a murder spree?”
“Why do I have to answer to you shorty,”
“If you didn't just murder people, I would hit you,” she never just killed just because she can. Especially, when it was at this large of scale that can be easy discovered. She may be strong against average humans but monster hunters, she stood no chance.
Also, the burning hatred she felt for him for killing these people and ruining the life she spent so long building. What gave him the right to walk in her life and ruin it? If she was stronger, she would have killed him. But at last, she was not and could only try not to get herself murdered.
Now very curious to why this man was here and why he just randomly killed the whole village… Her village. It was common knowledge not to attach the attention of human, not to mention slaughtering a whole village. In a few days, guards, mages and sort of monster hunters would swarm around the village.
“Anway it’s nice to meet you, Erix!” he spared a glance at her as she poked the very dead man. He was one of the only really rude people in the village. He wasn’t evil by any means but still very annoying and condescending.
Normally, Erix wouldn't care about a random monster and just let be, but she is so tiny. Without thinking he picked her up from her shirt and dangled her up high.
“Put me down you overgrown vampire!” She struggled against his grip and eventually bite down on his hand.
“Ow,” Blood trickled down his arm as she wouldn’t let go. Dropping her the ground, she let out a yelp as he stared at him with disgust. She made no sense whatsoever to Erix. ‘Maybe she would make good bait’ like she read his mind she glared at him. If glares could kill, he would be dead.
‘Ok so no bait then. Wait why am I being so nice to her…?’ Carefully, she stood up to see the man stuck in his own thoughts. She waved to get his attention, no results. Humming a song, she got stuck in her head, she stole a few shiny things that the villagers had. She may hope they rest under the stars, but they won’t need money when they would sleep for forever.
Strolling around barren streets, she picks up some flowers and leaves them on the villagers’ bodies. She must admit they weren’t the worst humans she has met. They gave her some sweets and food ever so often and let her roam around.
Once a lady from the bakery let her stay in the warm cosy house of hers. She was a pretty one though, bright emerald eyes contrasted so beautiful to her coral silky hair. What was her name again? ‘Clover’ her mind supplied for her, the daughter of the nice old lady who originally found her. She didn’t last the winter. Humans are very weak.
Finally, she places the last flower on the last dead guy. Did she feel guilty well kind of, but they at least deserved some sort of funeral. Any stray flowers she could find are what she left on cold bodies; beautiful flowers they are. Expect lomin flowers which weren’t your average flower. Native to the coastal area were lomin flowers which looked like a star. Its beauty suited them.
“Curse you crows,” she glared at the roof tops where they sat.
Ok maybe she chose the flower not for their beauty, but crows hated the smell. Many farmers used them by surrounding their crops with lomins to keep their crops safe from the hungry birds. She may not have beef when they prey on other crops, but these people deserve some peace.
It was weird wandering the small village, maybe only seventy people lived here. She knew all of them and passing their bodies stabbed her heart again and again.
Her mind went on a spiral with thoughts that plague her mind. What is she going to do next? She thought she was going to spend a lot longer here, so the thought never crossed her mind. Wind whistled around her as her eyes landed on the pine forest. She could just run into the forest and never look back.
“Why must fate hate me?”
