The dark hall was now filled with light. Harper began the robot show by playing rock music on an electric guitar. Then the robots began to dance to the rhythm. There was some sort of programming involved, but Crystal didn’t know what caused them to dance to the beat. The crowd was yelling and hyped. Each robot looked different, with different sizes and shapes. But they all danced to the rhythm at the same pace. Crystal cheered for Harper. By the end, Crystal was waiting for her parents since they said they will come to her fashion show. She missed them a lot and wished to see them in person. Growing up was no fun.
Leon and Crystal were backstage. The models were all dressed and ready.
“Crystal, you’re shaking,” said Leon
“Yeah, it’s cold,” said Crystal
“No, you might be nervous.”
“Yes, the nervousness is making it worse,” said Crystal
He laughed and said, “Instead of making eye contact, look at the audience’s foreheads... oh wow, you’re really trembling. You’re so anxious, no wonder you couldn’t even finish your lunch.”
Crystal’s teeth were chattering.
“It’s time,” said Yasmin
“Good luck! I’ll be going out to see,” said Leon, holding a thumbs up
Intense pop music began playing. The models went down the ramp with attitude and they were showing off Crystal’s latest designs.
A model walked onto the ramp wearing a navy-blue glittery sweater, a grey plaid skirt, and black socks. A man was wearing a red bomber jacket with black jeans. The final look was a white and purple ball gown with ruffles and lace. After all the models made their way around the stage one last time, Crystal walked onto the stage wearing her sky-blue blazer. Many clapped and cheered. Crystal followed Leon’s advice. She saw her parents and she smiled. But then her locket began to glow, pulse, and play music. Soon after, she left the stage.
“You were amazing!” said Yasmin
“Yes, that was great,” said Harper
“Thanks,” said Crystal checking her phone for messages from Leon
She unlocked her screen and found a message.
Leon Zheng: “Emergency mission soon! Hurry up and get ready.”
She came up to her parents and hugged them. Her mom asked her to come home soon to Heather Yard, and she said she will.
She took Harper and introduced her to her parents. They were glad to see her. It was quite late, and her parents told her they were going home and urged her to go home too. She said she will join them at the hotel tomorrow morning.
She sighed as they left. Leon was waiting in the distance, leaning against a wall.
“What is it?” said Crystal
“I don’t know. The suspect seems to have disappeared as the show ended,” said Leon
“Ugh! I could have talked to my parents longer,” said Crystal
“Oh, sorry,” he said
“Sorry? Sorry?!” said Crystal, sighing
“You’re scaring me... Look, I didn’t know. I thought you were free, I mean we could use a helping hand.” said Leon
“I’m not going with you alone anywhere, I don’t trust you,” said Crystal
She crossed her arms. The hall was still bright with lights, and people were walking about.
“Understandable. Why don’t you take a friend?” said Leon
“Okay... I’ll let you know,” said Crystal
“I’ll remind you. After all, Victor, his wife, and Gemma are at it again. They’re still brainwashing the poor kid.” said Leon
Crystal went back as Mirabelle told her that they had to pack loads of orders that they got thanks to the fashion show.
