As I float through the emptiness I can’t help but feel a deep sense of regret, or to be more accurate an overwhelming apathy. Nothing. It all amounted to nothing. I won. I beat all others, I conquered all that stood in my way, I had power beyond comprehension. I sacrificed, bled and fought to be the one that stood above creation as its master. I became the King Above All. I stole the very power of creation and wished myself immortal. And that was my biggest mistake.
All the joy it brought faded. All the power I felt faded. What is the use of being King when there is no one to rule? I tried everything to rekindle my passion. I even pretended to be defeated by a plucky group of adventurers only to return thousands of years later. Twice!
I mastered every form of magic, every form of combat and all professions. Living as a small-town baker was fun for a time. But none gave lasting joy. Be it days, months, years, decades or centuries all eventually lost their taste. And even when I was content, it simply continued. Till the very sun in the sky flickered out. After that point, time and years began to be very hard to keep track of but at least several hundred thousand years of being utterly alone on a dying planet were by far the worst. But even that did not last.
So here I live. Floating through nothingness, the very land beneath my feet having abandoned me and began its journey towards the centre of it all. As I now do.
If there were air I would sigh.
Something on the horizon approaches. What am I saying? There is no horizon to approach from! There is nothing left to approach! Have I finally lost all semblance of sanity or does that seriously look like a small white explosion rapidly coming at me?
Thank you for picking up I Was The Villain! I hope you enjoyed ready and are intrigued to find out more but even if this is the only episode you ever read of the series I really appreciate it anyway!
