Once again, I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling waiting for Myles’s reply. I sent him a message a couple minutes ago asking if I could come see him. It had almost been a week since I argued with Grace and she hasn’t spoken to me, if you don’t count the multiple messages, she sent saying who she fucked since the argument. My phone screen lights up and I feel the vibration on my stomach.
Myles: Hey, sure thing, I’m almost done studying.
Luke: Ok, thank you I’ll be there soon.
I swung my legs over the side of my bed and pulled a hoodie over my T-shirt. I approach the balcony wall and hoist myself up, jumping over to Myles balcony, doing my best not to hit any of the little plants. I knock lightly on the door; Myles slides the curtain open and smiles a big grin at me as he opens the door and lets me in. I sit down on the side of his bed and flop back and he joins me on the other side.
“What’s up? You don’t look happy.” Myles turns his face my way, but I stay staring at his ceiling which is just as boring and simple as mine.
“Just stressed, Work has been piling up and the Grace thing is still an issue.” I flip on my side to look at Myles this time with a weak smile. His eyes were gorgeous, even in the dim light you can still see the spots of colour that I adore seeing in the daylight. He also gives me a weak smile and sighs as he turns to face me.
“All we can do is wait for her to chill out, it’s her money on the line here, I guess. Your dad can’t do much to you if she’s the one who ends it.” Myles locks eyes with me and manages a stronger smile this time.
“I know this sounds ridiculous but do you wanna go for a walk? It’s late and we would definitely get caught on Stout’s camera, but I found this spot just a couple minutes out from behind the building and I think you’d like it.” I shuffle and get a little closer to Myles. His eyes lit up and a grin crept onto his face.
“Yeah, yeah let’s go! I don’t care if Stout sees us, he’s gonna get up us no matter what. Let’s go.” Myles hops up and grabs a sweater, sneakers, his keys, and his phone. I unlock the door and peek out to make sure there isn’t anyone wandering the halls, all clear. We make our way down the stairs and out the building door. I turn on the light on my phone, so it is easier to find our way. We walk side by side down into the trees. It was cold and the air nipped at our bodies through the many layers we were wearing, as we pushed through the shrub and tree’s. I knew we weren’t far from the spot I had come across after a shit day last week.
There was a tree that stood bigger than the rest and the roots stuck out of the ground in all directions. I Hold my Phone higher so we can see the mass amount of tree roots underneath out feet, I managed to make it past and held my hand out for Myles to grab while he jumped. Myles reaches to take my hand but slips and is falling straight in my direction, I drop my phone and promptly prepare myself to catch him. He falls into me and wraps his arms weirdly around my torso for some form of balance that was not given to him, I grab under is arms and I look down to see him smiling up at me awkwardly, he looked embarrassed but stands up and brushes himself down.
“Sorry about that, Lost my balance on that last one and uh… yeah… You, ok?” He rubbed the back of his neck nervously and looked a little worried, probably because I had to catch him. I bend down and pick up my phone.
“Hey, it’s all good, no harm done. I stacked it coming through here the first time actually so, yeah.” I reply back giving him a reassuring smile. The urge to hug him was one I always had to fight, he felt bad for landing on me, I can see it on his face. I nod to the side and turn to continue on the walk, Myles appears beside me holding his hands stiffly beside him. I peer down and slowly touch his hand, I can feel his eyes on me, but I look ahead, he touches my hand in response. This time I turn to him and meet his eyes, His beautiful soft eyes. I couldn’t help but slide my hand into his and coil our fingers together. We both blushed and kept walking like nothing had happened.
The frigid air wasn’t as cold now, I had Myles’s hand to hold, I felt unbeatable.
