A bag full of supply enough to last us in a month and I sighed. Heavy as it is, I need to carry it since it's for us later and thankfully we will settle down in a boat later.
I turned to look at Tyler and couldn't help but chuckle as I garnered a confused look from him.
"You do realize that the bulge in your jacket was not your stomach right?" His face flared and he shook his head, trying to come up with an excuse.
"W- What, Of course it is!" He cried as he hid it or at least attempting to.
"It's okay, Ty." I replied, a teasing smile appeared on my face. "Who knew my brother could be so cute."
Tyler pouted. "I hate you."
"I'm sorry, okay?"
I ruffled his head and he mumbled something as he averted his eyes and looking elsewhere.
Almost thirty minutes passed and Linda called us back together and shared our findings. Food, clothes, and stuff needed to survive was in a good condition and can last us a month in a boat.
It was only two things we forgot.
Weapon to protect ourselves and drinking water.
"That's a serious problem." Linda grumbled.
"Indeed."
Munch. Munch.
"And what are you doing exactly?" The boy beside her ate biscuits whilst leaning against the chair. He blinked owlishly before answering her.
"What, I'm hungry. What do you expect me to do?" Linda sighed loudly. "Not to mention, your voice scared the heck out of Ty. He stared at the food in my hands in secret long enough that I'm sure he will bit my whole finger too because of you."
Then, Andrew bit the round shaped biscuit and chewed it loudly as if challenging her on what to say. She put her hand, brushing her hair harshly and responded grumpily.
"Alright, fine. We will continue after we rest. I'm sure we needed it. But..! Don't forget to find the last two things we need. Weapon and drinking water."
We agreed and prepared to split the food together. We ate in silence and discussed on what we were going to do next.
Andrew suggested bringing things to do like games or swimsuits to wear but Linda rejected it.
"Why?"
"I'm sure that's just your perverted mind could think of."
"What?!" He raised his tone and I tried to be the one who broke their arguments.
"Linda, he brought up a good point about bringing things to do while we're on the boat. Those two are the most plausible items that won't attract them."
"Well, of course they're not. But did you forgot about the looters or do we need to go back into the building to make sure you remember?"
"That's uncalled for. You know that. Still, think about the activity you could do in a boat. Swimsuit? Makes sense. Books? It won't attract anyone's attention with loud noises."
"…"
"Then what would you do in a small space of a boat? Or would you rather find a small island where we could live until we grow of old age which may or may not existed."
"…" Linda pondered a little and resigned herself. "… I guess it did makes sense."
I lit up at the thought, "Then, it's okay?"
Linda groaned, she finally learned that anyone was grown tired of wearing the same clothes, wrinkled in blood and sweat.
"Very well," she replied, agreeing upon my comment, "Then after that focused on the water and weapon. Leave the things in this spot to me and come back quickly once you finished."
"Why?"
"You three must find the boat that fit this key." She held it up for us to see. "I will go back to check if the looters already sneaked in or at least if they were getting close to us."
"Alright."
"…"
"What is it, Andrew?" Linda turned to Andrew who grew quiet into the discussion.
"Will you be alright by yourself?"
"Hah! Who are you to worry about me? Wait, are you really the same person before that talked to me?"
"…" His worried glances unwavered and he didn't bite into her provocation like before so Linda did the unusual things for her to say.
"I'll be fine. Besides, what we need is quick-fix shelter than running away, right? If we delayed it more, nothing can hold them up in this world."
It took a moment for Andrew to agree. He then put a bag in front of him, took out a pocket knife and stretched out his hand for her to see.
"I will agree if you accept this. I can't help but worry if you don't have any other means to self defense against them."
"… fine. Oh, I almost forgot to remind you, change your clothes. It would be better to change now than in a boat later since it would be cramped with our stuff and sleeping gear."
After agreeing on the place where the other boat that is probably in a good condition, we spread out into four direction and Linda went out into the direction of entrance where we came in. Well, almost like breaking in.
I looked into her back, hoping it will be okay to let her go alone. Beside me was Andrew sneaking a glance with the sun almost going down since we took a long time gathering everything.
It was amazing we accomplished this together without fighting each other who will get more or so much like in any movies I have seen.
The on-coming nightfall signaled an alert beneath my heart that something will happen but because I don't know what so I can't voice out loudly to Linda who worked so hard for us. My heartbeats felt like it would break out of my chest and I thought the best course of action would be to tell Andrew we need to hurry.
So, I put my hand onto his shoulder and he nodded instantly.
"Let's go."
"Yeah."
