Weeping Willow

Out of school

Out of school

Mar 03, 2022

Sora couldn't believe what she heard. Hopefully, it was a weird joke.
Sora tried to fall asleep, but the thought of being taken to someone else's house that she doesn't fully know kept her up.
It was past Soras' bedtime, and yet she was wide awake.
Finally, Sora stopped thinking about it and fell asleep.

Sora woke up and was instantly reminded of what happened Sunday. She got out of bed and got dressed again. Sora wore a dark blue sweater with a bright rhombus that almost looked like a gem. She wore dark blue jeans with one small tear on her right leg. This outfit was also from one of Soras' favorite books.
Once finished getting ready for school, Sora ran to the kitchen to make breakfast and lunch. She then ran over to her backpack, picked it up, and started shoving her stuff in it. Once done, she raced out the door, trying to put on her backpack.

Sora raced to the bus stop as fast as she could, knowing that it would be there. Once she turned the corner, she could see a line of kids still waiting for the bus.
Finally, I'm early! Sora thought, slowing down. Once she stopped to take a breathe, the bus arrived. Even though Sora was very winded, she never gave up and ran as fast as possible to the bus.
Some kids turned around and very quietly cheered her on, or at least that's what Sora thought. In reality, they were mocking her.
Sora finally caught up with the bus right before it got ready to leave.
She hopped onto the bus then wiggled her way through the crowd of kids sitting in the seats.
Sora managed to reach the back seat of the bus right before it moved.
Once sitting down, Sora tried to tone out the kids yelling and screaming while she opened her backpack and pulled out a notepad. She then pulled out a pencil and opened up the notepad full of drawings.
Sora loved to draw even though she thought she wasn't very good at it. All the draws included nature or beautiful birds, but Sora loved to draw forests.
"What are you going to draw, birds like you?" The boy in the other row: Mark, mocked her.
"Well, I think birds are brilliant, so I will take that as a compliment, Mark," Sora replied, tucking her notepad, or sketchbook, closer to her body, hiding it.
Mark looked defeated. Instead of coming up with more insults, he looked at Sora angrily, then looked behind him at his friend and started a new conversation.
Mark was the kid that would act cool, but the result would show him as a psycho. Mark was also the class-clown and would be the one who would teach the new kids, who would be a boy, how to do stuff disrespectfully. He would also be the one who would get in trouble the most.

The bus ride was very loud and annoying. Sora drew many pictures from birds in trees to rivers and lakes.
Once at the school, Sora packed up her art and headed off in a long, slow line on the bus.
Everybody got off, along with Sora, and spread separate ways. It was cold outside but not cold enough for the Yard Duty to kick everyone inside, but if kids were too cold and wanted to hang out with their teacher, they were allowed to head inside. That's what Sora was going to do.
She walked straight to her classroom, and, as expected, very few people were inside, but it was still a little loud. Some people were running around and throwing a ball at one another while two other people talked to Mr. Grim, our homeroom teacher.
You know how substitute teachers with the last name 'Heart' were always so mean? Mr. Grim was amiable and rarely ever raised his voice.
Sora walked over to her seat and put her stuff down.
"Hey, Sora, I need to ask you a question!" Mr. Grim said, pushing the other girls away from him.
Sora walked over to him and asked, "Yeah?"
"We will have a new student in this class, and I wanted to know if you wanted to show her around?"
Sora thought for a moment, knowing that she was a little shy and didn't know how to show other people around.
After a few seconds, Sora answered, "Sure!"
"Wonderful! I'll tell her through Gmail right away!" Mr. Grim said, spinning in his wheelchair and turning on his computer.
Sora gleefully skipped away, back to her desked and sat down.

A few seconds flew by, and it was time for class to start.
Many kids swarmed the classroom, getting ready for class, while Sora thought of how this 'new kid' would act.
Mr. Grim grabbed everyone's attention by ringing a giant bell hanging from the roof and then called up the new kid.
"Why don't you come up here and tell the class a little about you?" Mr. Grim said, moving out of the way for her.
"Hello, I'm Catelyn, and I'm, or I was described as kind and loyal," she said, moving her head around, looking at everyone.
"Great! Why don't you go and sit down right over there?" Mr. Grim said, leaning closer to her and pointing directly next to Sora.
She nodded her head then headed over to the seat next to Sora.
Mr. Grim walked over to his desk then said that he would call out everyone's names. The first name he called out was Mark, then Kayla, went on as everyone responded to their name being called out by saying "Here." This was a way he wanted to introduce us to her.
Catelyn leaned closer to Sora and whispered, "This is a weird way of introducing everyone to me."
"Yes, it is," Sora whispered back. She honestly didn't have anything to say to that statement, but she tried to make it sound like she did.
Finally, Mr. Grim called out soras' name. She did have time to respond to it in the usual way, so instead, she blurted out two words put together, "Er, mere! I mean here!"
Most of everyone began laughing out loud. Sora didn't feel embarrassed by it, she was proud she finally made everyone laugh at her mistake, but she still wanted to make a good impression. She leaded over to Catelyn and whispered, "Sorry."
Catelyn didn't whisper back; she just turned her head ninety degrees and smiled while nodding her head.

The class was finally over, and it was time to go to lunch. Sora watched everyone stumble their way out the front door, anxious to eat.
Mr. Grim called Sora and Catelyn over to him and told Catelyn that Sora would show her around.
Once Catelyn and Sora were outside, Catelyn started talking about her favorite stuff to do is and how to make stuff and other things while Sora was trying to teach her where everything is.

Finally, Sora was finished teaching Catelyn everything.
"Hey, Sora, hanging around you was very fun!" Catelyn continued, "Do you want to be friends?"
"Er, Sure!" Sora said, looking back at her. "Come on, race you to the Cafeteria!"
"All right! Race ya'!" Catelyn said, getting in a racing pose before running off to the Cafeteria.
Sora began to run after her when one of the Yard Duties yelled her name, "Sora?! Is there a Sora here?!"
"That's me," Sora said, walking over to the Yard Duty.
"You're going home, so go to your classroom and pack up all your stuff," the Yard Duty said, acting kind.
Sora nodded, then ran after Catelyn and told her that she was leaving. Catelyn hugged her and waved goodbye.
Most Yard Duties are kind, but when you do something against the rules, they will go full beast on you, scolding you, righting you up while yelling at you.

When Sora packed her stuff and headed to the office, she began to wonder why she was going home because this was the first time out of the whole school year that she would get picked up early and get picked up since she always took the bus.
She stepped into the office and instantly saw her mother, Cho.
Sora walked around the front desk over to her mother. Cho reached out her hand and said, "Ready?"
Erm, no, Sora wanted to say.
"I guess," Sora ended up saying, taking her mother's hand.
Once outside the school, Cho started to act very strangely, not smile as she would usually, and not talk or ask anything like, "how was your day?" Or, "do you want to know why I pulled you out of school so early?"
Cho helped Sora up into her car, then got in the driver's seat and quietly started the car.

Halfway home, Sora decided to ask Cho, "Why did you take me out of school so early?"
Cho sighed then answered with a weak voice, "You will be living with your uncle."
"What?!" Sora said, very surprised and very nervous.
"Don't worry; I'll be back to take you to a new home... after I find one."
"Do you promise to come back soon as you can?" Sora said, holding out her pinky, wanting to make a pinky promise.
Cho shook Soras' pinky, agreeing to the promise, "I do."
