Warm colours melted into the horizon as the morning birds sang their waking tune. It was a peaceful morning, but the morning chill ran a shiver down Celest's back. Wandering around the blood stain village, she finally made her way back to Erix, who was still standing like a statue. He kind of looked like the dead bodies surrounding him, but the quiet breaths he let out proved he was alive.
Sleep threatens her all night, but the smell of death quickly runs away the thought of sleep. It wasn’t like she minded the smell but to sleep near it was another thing. She swayed over to Erix who was still lost in thought.
Roughly, she punches in the shoulder making the man sharply turn to her. “Finally,” she sighed, “You’ve been standing there for the whole night”.
“You didn’t need to punch me!” ‘He sorts of sounded like a whining child’. Internally she laughs. After the whining man stop complaining about being punched, he glared the Celest. “You’re quite a brave one,” his eyes darken as his eyes linger on Celest. “Eh, I just to care.”
“So, you’re reckless?” Was she? She could have ran away from him and left this whole blood bath behind. This man before could easily kill her but the feeling of last night had diluted. Remembering the dreadful feeling of bloodlust that choked her last night made her shiver.
“I don’t know,” she shrugged as she handed him a Lomin. “Why a Lomin?” He recognised the flower but why was this kid giving it to him?
“You just look as dead as the bodies around us, you probably don’t want any crows eating out your eyes.”
“Ha ha you’re so funny.”
Erix wandered off to collect anything that had value. Overall, there was little as the village was small and was far off from any other villages. It was a simple fishing village so its worth was low.
Quickly, he noticed the Lomin flowers were placed on the dead bodies. Did she spend all night finding lomin flowers? He knew most cultures used lomin flowers to allow dead people a peaceful afterlife. He was pretty sure they were named after the god of death or something. Carefully, he traced the white petals that did look like a star.
Did she care for these humans? Her eyes had no remorse though, so maybe a weird send-off, he guessed. Many questions linger in his mind as to what the girl wanted or who she was. She obviously was a monster with those sharp teeth and the thin pupil was no doubt a trait of a monster. But the ears were a dead giveaway that she wasn’t human. Suddenly, he turned to see the young girl still standing basking in the warmness of the morning sun. His heart ached when he went to leave her.
Travelling alone was slowly chipping away at him. Dam his monster instincts of wanting to travel with a pack. He was powerful by his lonesome but sometimes you need to give into your genetics.
“Hey Celest,” quickly she turned towards him, “want to be my new travelling partner?”
Celest really didn’t know how to process the word that came out of the stupid man. They had just met last night and he tried to kill her at first! It was stupid, he had murdered everyone around yet it was tempting to not be alone. Cursing at herself at the thought of it, thinking about accepting.
“Well?” He asked.
Why? “Yeah sure!” ‘What just came out of my mouth… FUCK!’
‘Why did she say yes? She might be a fun traveller, but it was his instincts talking' Great then!” ‘WHY WHY! What is this conversation!’ Why did she accept? This is a horrible idea and she hopes she will die a painful and horrible death.
For a few minutes a unbreakable awkward tension surround the both of them. Both screaming internally as they wander along the path. Soon the crashing of the ocean drowned out as the sun raised shining upon them. Buzzing of the bugs become the only sound other than the weirdly pace walking. Erix had very long legs naturally had a fast pace while Celest had short legs. So Erix had shorten his strides to allow Celest to be next to him
Long pale-yellow grass surrounds the barren rocky road that led to the town of Asin. Celest personally hadn’t been to anything larger than a village; the thought of all those eyes made her heart speed up.
Mountains laid on the horizon mocking them of how far they must travel to reach Asin. Time moved by so slowly as the heat of the sun made Celest’s siren side screech and complain. Celest felt her legs grew weaker as pain spiked up her each time she steps. Pain was nothing new to her but the constant of it made her bite her lip to stifle a whimper.
Erix was used to the sun's unforgiven heat as walked the earth for a long time. But occasionally he shared a glance to Celest seeing the sweat that fell from her. She looks like a dried-up fish oh right….
He’ll admit he wasn’t the smartest, but Celest was obvious a siren a water creature… fuck. She probably was used to being in the sun all day, especially the spring sun. “Are you going to die?”
He was a monster; he really didn’t do ‘talking’.
“I’m in pain yes but death no,” she slurred her words, but he still understood. Carefully, he scoped Celest up as she sighed in the release of the pressure on her legs. Celest knew how tall he was but being close you could tell how defined his muscles were. Without a warning, she laid limb in his arms catching Erix off guard. “Are you dead?” he questions. “No,” she replied like it was obvious ‘Well okay… it’s not like you look like a corpse or anything’.
Looks like it will take some time before they arrive at Asin.
