Several websites on the internet say that Virgos and Scorpios are compatible. I don't really know if I trust it. I don’t really trust the internet that much, and astrology isn't exactly exact. Still, maybe it's right this time.
One website rated Virgo/Scorpio 7 out of 10 overall, so not bad. Sex and romance was 8…
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are a Virgo-Scorpio couple, and they seem cool. Maybe that's us in the future, me and Martin. Maybe we will grow old together. Have fights, have dances, have disagreements, have a life together. I'll like to think that when we will be asked by people how we met, we will say the wind brought us together. They will melt in sweetness or in jealousy. Maybe we will be the couple that everyone wants to be or the one they hate.
During college, after a long day of classes, we will meet in our favorite cafe - the one at the end of a silent street. We will sit at our favorite table, the one under the tree. We will talk, and sometimes we’ll just sit in our own bubble with our shared silence. It will only be just us two, and all that’s all we’ll need. Then we will walk on empty night streets. Swing our intertwined hands and talk about nonsense. Talk about our childhood, how our friends are doing, or share the gossip we have. We will stop where the streetlight creates a space for us. We’ll stand under its yellow glow. We’ll look at each other, see each other, feel each other. We will kiss for no one to see. Kiss until we won’t need to kiss anymore to feel the emotion between us.
I hope the internet is right this time.
The day was sticky and energy draining. I washed the heat and sweat off my body because we were going to this new trendy cafe on the rooftop of a building. The sky was blanketed with tufts of white clouds where only little sun could shine through. Going up three flights of stairs took great lung strength. I should probably start exercising, but I don't think I'm actually going to do it. When we reached the top, it showed us rows of wooden tables with big cream-colored umbrellas each. Our view span 360 degrees around us. The church on the east looks church-y; on the south, I could see townsite; west, the river is as thick as a pencil; up north, the public pool glints in the sun.
“One beef nachos, one strawberry milkshake, one pink lemonade, and one iced cafe latte-” I ordered before someone interrupted me.
“One for me too.” A voice whispered in my ear, I turn around - its Martin.
“Why are you here?”
“I followed you here.”
I pulled a creeped-out face.
“I'm joking, I'm not a creep.”
“You are, creep.”
“Ed, Ro, and Pau are on their way here too.”
“Is that all?” The guy over the counter was smiling but his eyes said otherwise.
“Uh, two iced cafe lattes instead of one.”
He repeated the orders back to us.
“So guys, Martin. Martin, Cassey, and Danielle.” Martin smiled his smile.
“Hi…”
Martin was about to say something but he just trailed off. I didn't think he would be the type to be awkward at first encounters.
“Okay, so where do you want to sit?” Danielle stopped him from swallowing his saliva for the third time.
“Is it okay if we sit my friends?” He asked.
“Yeah sure,” Danielle said and we nodded in agreement.
Roan and the others arrived not long after. We waved to them and they ordered to the now pissed-off guy at the counter.
“Guys, this is Cassey and Danielle.” I started their get-to-know each other then they introduced themselves. What was once a silent table is now the loudest among the others.
Pau led the gossip sharing. Danielle also spilled some that weaved the web of issues that arose from the different players in the story. We were only silent once our food came to our table. We must’ve been hungry from the 45-minute wait. I was going to get mad but there were only two people running around frantically for our food, so I can't really be angry.
The food was divine. The nachos were the best I've ever tasted. My drink, the iced cafe latte was good too but I’ve found my new favorite - the strawberry milkshake. Cassey let me a sip and I felt like I was committing adultery. The milkshake was just that good, I am sorry iced coffee.
On our way down, only then did I notice the “hiring servers” sign placed on the counter.
