He made it home an hour or so after he started walking, it had begun raining outside so he tried to get home faster as to not stay out in the pouring rain, he didn't want to get the folder of his job options wet as they were very important, he was also trying to avoid the people who would probably try and blame the sun blocking weather on him, it sounds outrageous but the people in this city tended to blame anything bad on innocent people who just happened to be different from them. He walked up to his apartment, giving the doorman a wave as usual though was just met with a disgusted look, as expected 'I don't know why I even try..' he thought to himself in response to the nasty look the doorman gave him, finally making it up to his apartment. He walked to his bedroom and flumped onto his bed with a sigh, the apartment was glum to say the least, dark, and gloomy, the windows cracked as well as water damage and bullet holes in the wall from previous owners, this might seem like a place no one would really want to live in, but he didn't have much choice, noone in this city wanted him to live in and rent their houses, not that he'd even have the outrageous amount of money they'd ask for if they did let him stay, the only reason he got to live here was it just so happened some nice old blind lady was the owner of it, meaning he never had to worry about her judging him from how he looked, it was relieving to him and he always tried to help her out when she needed it as even though she didn't know it, she had been a huge help to him. With another sigh he sat up on the bed from his flumped position, grabbing the folder and looking through the four paper packets in it, each had been job contracts, though different from each other in small ways, different paper texture, different fonts, even different lining, it all seemed a bit overwhelming to go through as the packets were quite large, but he had nothing else better to do with the rest his day so he tried to get over the overwhelmed feeling and start reading the contracts. As time went by it got darker in the apartment, the sun going down under the large buildings that surrounded the smaller building Amazon was in, as it got darker he turned a lamp on, reading the last of he contracts as he had finally gotten through the other three less interesting ones, he had taken notice that this last one was written and committed by 'Asher Lunacy', a name in which he could have sworn he heard before 'where do I know that name from?-' he thought as he pulled out his phone and did some research, his curiosity taking over as he had wanted to know who exactly he would be working for that he was able to recognise the name, which isn't something he could say for the other two, he looked through the internet to get his answer, finding that 'Asher Lunacy' was the current ruler of hell, the most recent demon to take over the throne in a battle that took place a few years prior "How did he manage to get me a job under that guy??" he exclaimed to himself, reading over the contract some more, it all seemed pretty basic "..not allowed to quit until working for over a year after accepting admittance.. damage caused to property will be paid for out of check.. damage to self or personal property is not responsible by blah blah blah.. this is pretty normal for an office job in hell-" He remarked with a slight snicker as he looked over the contract more, he found that this job, unlike the other ones, might actually be interesting, if he was working in hell there would be other people around that looked like him, he would fit in perfectly there! He wouldn't get judged about his own looks like how he did here on the surface world, it was perfect for him, sure the job itself seemed boring but at least no one would constantly be staring at him in disgust or whispering about him, he might even make a new friend!
A loud thunder rumbled throughout the city, the rain only pouring down harder as lightning began to shoot up to the sky, Amazon closed his windows blinds as to reduce the noise that would come into the room from the storm as he needed to make a very important phone call and all that noise would not be helpful with that. He sat back down on the bed and pulled out his phone with a sigh, nervously dialing the number that had been on the contract for the office job in hell's most respected ruling tower*. It took awhile for anyone to answer Amazon's call, which was expected considering the fact that there were probably a lot of people who call this building every moment of every day, though eventually someone did answer, someone who was expecting Amazon's call "You're in contact with CEO, Lunacy. How can I help you?" Said the incredibly deep voice from the other line of the phone call, sounding dull, intimidating, and very profesional, Amazon was incredibly surprised once he got an answer, he wasn't expecting the CEO ruler himself to answer the phone, he fully assumed that some secretary would do that or something "Ah- this is Amazon Kent? I believe my brother spoke to you about my job before?-" He said with a slightly nervous tone, once he heard how intimidating Asher sounded he couldn't help being a bit nervous as he was an overlord of hell and was very powerful, if this guy had wanted too he could crush him like a grape without breaking a sweat, therefore talking to him was a bit frightening "Ah yes, Amazon. I've been looking forward to your call. I assume you are calling to say you would like the job offered to you then?" "Yes actually, I uh.. I was curious as to when I will start if I do take the job offer?" He said, trying to get his composure as to sound more confident instead of nervous, not wanting to make a fool of himself while on the phone with the ruler of hell and his soon to be boss "You would be starting in a few days from now, giving you enough time to get proper work clothes and a way down to hell where you will be working. Will you be taking the job? If so please do say so now so I can get you in the system." He said, the faint sound of tv static coming soon after his voice, to which Amazon had assumed to be the sound of the phone call breaking up, so he spoke quickly "yes I will most definitely be working there, thank you for the offer" "It was no problem. Now. I expect you to be on time by saturday. Exactly 10:30am, if you aren't here on the minute then you will face a penalty. Are we clear?" Amazon wasn't surprised that Asher had made it specifically clear that he couldn't be late, Milo had probably told him about his bad habit of waking and getting to work later than allowed "Crystal." he said with a sigh, it was worth it to be up that early for work if it ment that he wasnt going to go through the torture he goes through here "Good. I'm glad we're clear on that. Please just sign your name on the contract and bring it to my office first thing Saturday, once you do we'll discuss what exactly you'll be doing."
*Ruling Tower: A business tower in hell in which powerful demons and high class demon citizens work, they also house demon overlords at the tops of them, the most respected Ruling Tower houses the king of all Demons, Asher Lunacy
Amazon had been laying on his bed for a while after the phone call, his mind racing with everything he could possibly do to be as professional as his brother. He didn't want to lose this job even though he hadn't even truly started it yet. He knew Milo was right in the fact that his temper was out of control and figured that his first line of action should be trying to get that better under wraps, after all he can't get in trouble for anger if he pretends he isn't getting angry, a happy go lucky facade seemed easy enough to keep for days at a time, though he did start to take in mind that he would be working in hell itself and maybe there would be a lot of people with major temper issues, most probably way worse than his own! There were a lot of thoughts circling his mind, all contradicting each other. He was so nervous but excited about this situation at the same time and didn't know what to do with the different emotions that had been clashing into each other. Suddenly, much to Amazon's surprise, his phone started ringing, making Amazon jump a bit from the silence being interrupted by the sudden loudness of the phone's ringing. He took a moment to regain himself from the startle, and looked over to his phone, it was Eleanor! ‘Of course..’ he thought to himself ‘I forgot to text her! I hope she's not too worried-’ a nervous sigh left his lungs, he was most likely about to answer the phone to Eleanor being very worried, questioning and probably upset over him not texting her when he got home like he always did, as she had always been worried he'd get attacked on the street or worse on his way home. He clicked the green 'answer call' button and gave a nervous "Hey Eleanor..!" to which he was quickly interrupted by a loud, worried, and frantic voice on the other end of the call "OHMYGOSH. Thank fuck youre ok.. Wait- are you ok?? Why didn't you text me?! I was so worried! Did someone hurt you? Did you get kidnapped?" he was a bit confused as to why Eleanor immediately thought he was in danger, if he was then he wouldn't have been able to answer her call right? He began to giggle a bit, but couldn't help but begin to ring his giggling into slight laughter, as he found Eleanors over-worrying to be rather silly "Why do you immediately assume the worst? I'm not helpless you know" He snickered as he sat more comfortably on the bed, his nervousness going away "Oh don't lie to yourself. You are very helpless!" she said in an annoyed tone, not finding her worry to be funny like Amazon did "I am not! You just worry too much, you're such a mom-friend." He said in a teasing tone as his snickers continued, though, while Amazon was finding this conversation funny, Eleanor suddenly had a moment of slight heartbreak, Amazon referring to her as 'Friend' hurt her as she liked Amazon as so much more than that and her fantasies of her and Amazon becoming more than friends getting shot down like a bird in hunting season just made her want to cry, though she didn't show it "haaha.. yeah.. uhm.. I have to get back to work.. I'm glad you're okay, don't forget to text me next time!" She said, hiding her sadness under a fake happy voice, something she was very used to, "I won't, I promise! Bye for now!" He said as Eleanor hung up, setting his phone back down as he got up from the bed, he couldn't just lay here for the rest of the day! He needed to prepare for his new job.
