The storm blasting over the city had only gotten worse with the passing minutes, one might even think they were going to flood if they had not lived in this city long enough to know that they were often times bombarded with awful weather such as this, harsh winds, flooding rains, sometimes even hail or extreme snow, it was a problem these people were used too including Amazon. The weather was mostly odd due to the fact that the city was in a place that should not usually get this sort of weather, it wasn't necessarily normal in the slightest, usually around this time of year in any place near the city it was sunny with an occasional drizzle of rain, it was like the city was cursed with the punishment of extremely bad weather for some ancient mistake the people who built it made, that most likely wasn't the case but it was interesting to think about. Despite his previous plans to head out to the mall and get ready for his new job by buying some new more professional clothes, he decided he’d have to postpone those plans, the weather was getting way too extreme and going out now could be dangerous, even deadly, not just because of the weather itself but also because of the people that would blame its effects on him and be violent or even murderous against him to make the weather go back to normal like he was some sort of sacrificial goat, it wasn't safe for him out there right now and he still had a few days before he would have to go to hell for his first day of work anyway, so for now he could just stay home and plan out when to pack his stuff, where in hell he would be staying, as well as how he was going to get there safely with his stuff. He sat down on his bed with a sigh and looked at his phone, he had no idea how he was going to get to hell so he figured the best place he could search for answers on such transportation would be on coogle, so he began searching, a lot of the things he asked didn't quite help as the website had directed him to things that were related to hell, but didn't tell him how to get there as apparently that wasn't very well known knowledge. Beginning to get annoyed and feeling like he should have asked Asher how he could get transportation there while he had the chance, he searched more specifically, using more keywords and diving through many different websites, including ones that seemed incredibly sketchy, that seemed like they would get him the answer he wanted, but to no avail, it seemed that sort of knowledge just surprisingly wasn't on the internet for him to stumble upon, it made sense however, if people could just find a way to hell whenever they wanted it would lead to utter chaos. He groaned in even more annoyance than before, a bit upset he spent all that time going through as much of the internet as he could find for this and there was nothing, no answers, not even a secret one that he would have expected to find on one of the more sketchy websites he had found himself on. He flumped down onto his bed on his back, how was he supposed to get to work? He couldn't just quit now, not only did he just get this job, he really wanted this job and didn't want to give up on it so easily. Milo was the one who set him up with this job in the first place so clearly he must know of a way to get to hell right? He had to of, it only made sense, so he dialed Milo’s number in his phone with a sigh, he wasn't fully expecting an answer as it was late and extremely stormy, but he was also fully expecting him to answer at the same time as there was no way he was sleeping this early, he usually pulls all-nighters for days on end to get work done, it wasn't healthy but Amazon had too many problems of his own and had no idea how he could possibly help anyways, so he just minded his own business. Unsurprisingly Milo answered him, though it was a bit odd as he had sounded extremely annoyed about something, like he was just dumped on by a bucket of cold water and then accidentally stepped in a mud puddle with new shoes on. “What is it? I'm a little busy.” His tone had its usually calm and composed nature to it but with hint of sourness and sass, giving away that he was clearly upset about something “Hey, I chose one of the jobs you signed me up for and called the place, but I have no idea how i'm gonna get there, do you have any idea how I could get to hell without y’know.. Dieing?” He had a cheery tone as he thought having a good attitude about what Milo wanted him to do would cheer him up a bit, he was wrong however “Oh good, i'm glad. If you come by my office tomorrow I can show you but right now I'm extremely busy.” his annoyed and sour tone didn't leave, in fact it was worsening by the second even though he was trying to keep up his good mood as to not let Amazon think he was angry with him, he didn't want nor need another argument right now “Ah, Okay, i’ll see you tomorrow then!” He did not question the worsening attitude he could clearly hear from Milo as he just assumed he was tired and annoyed from work, feeling bad that he always had so much to worry about “Get some sleep, okay?” Amazon said in hopes Milo would listen and drop work for a few hours to get a break “...I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said, his tone cold as ever as he hung up on Amazon, leaving him feeling a bit annoyed as well, though he tried not to think about it as he didnt want to ruin his own good mood too much over something small, putting his phone on the bedside table and getting ready for bed. Just as he had turned his lamp off to darken the room, he heard his phone go off, a small little notification bleep to say that he had gotten a message from somebody, he was a bit annoyed as he had just started to get ready to rest after the long and stressful day and didn't want to talk with anyone else. The notification played again as he got another message, he gave up on ignoring it as he knew if he left it alone whoever it was would just text him again in hopes of an answer. He tiredly grabbed his phone off of the bedside table and looked at the messages, seeing it was from Eleanor, he was glad it wasn't just some stranger or someone telling him he was late on rent again, but he was still slightly annoyed as he was tired and truthfully just wanted to go to bed and forget about the bad things that had happened today.
‘Hey, I was wondering if you would be interested in going out somewhere soon? I know you’re kinda on a job hunt now but maybe we could go and have a bit of fun together! I had a few places planned out like that fancy restaurant down the street from the casino, or maybe even just a cafe!’ sent Eleanor, hoping Amazon would see she was trying to ask him on a date and would say yes in return, it wasn't ideally how she wanted this to go but she really wanted Amazon to know how she felt and couldn't wait for Amazon to ask her out anymore as she kinda assumed that maybe he was just shy about it, when he didn't answer or even read her first text she got slightly worried and texted again ‘You there?’ to which she saw Amazon had read both her texts, and impatiently waited for an answer.
When Amazon opened up his messenger and saw the text he got from Eleanor he thought about it for a moment, not realizing she was asking him out at first as he didnt think she liked him like that, but noting the odd wording and how she made it seem like it was less a party on the town as friend and more of like they'd be having dinner somewhere as dates, he hadn't liked Eleanor in a romantic way in the slightest and didn't quite know how to respond to her basically asking him out on a date besides doing something he would feel bad for, and while he wasn't sure if she was truly trying to be romantic or not, it sure sounded that way so he wanted to subtly friend zone her just in case as he didnt want to lead her on in any way, he wanted to make it clear that they were friends and nothing more, so after a minute or two he responded back ‘Yeah, though i’d be more interested in going to a club somewhere, nothing better than karaoke with a friend!’ he gave a sigh as he waited for her response back
When Eleanor saw that Amazon had texted back she quickly looked at the message with excitement, reading it as she had hoped for something like a confirmation with a heart or kissy face emoji, but she got no such thing, instead she was met with a heartbreaking text. ‘Friend’. She hated that word, she wanted more than anything to be with Amazon romantically but no matter what she tried she was met with a huge wall of failure with the word ‘Friend’ spray painted all over it to mock her for her attempts ‘Of course..’ she thought to herself as she felt her heart breaking for the second time today ‘Yup! Sounds good! Wanna plan it out tomorrow?’ she tried to make it seem like she wasn't at all sad about this, that she didn't mean anything by ‘going out’, maybe Amazon didn't get the hint and was just being nice, maybe he wasn't friendzoning her and she would get to try again with success another time.
‘Sure! I’ll visit the casino, we can talk then, I'm gonna go to bed for now though, goodnight!’ He gave a smile as he figured Eleanor took it well, which meant her wording probably wasn't alluding to a date between them at all and he was just overthinking things, he was relieved to believe this was the case as he really didn't want to hurt Eleanor’s feelings. He had nothing else to do after texting Eleanor so he was finally able to put the phone away and get a good night's sleep. Amazon pulled the blanket over himself as he got comfortable, today was a emotional rollercoaster, from getting fired, arguing with his brother, getting scolded at by Eleanor, to talking with the King of Hell himself, it was one hell of a day and he was ready to end it with a good night's rest, yawning one last time before dozing off to sleep.
