Chapter 8- Aftermath
It hadn’t taken long for Sans to calm after the soft green light had subsided; Even so, he was reluctant to move from where he sat, cradling the baby bones. She looked so content snuggled up in his arms, humming a calming tune. A small smile crept onto his face as he continued to stare.
He wasn’t sure what she had done, he knew it was magic, he could feel that much, but it was like no other magic he had experienced. It was green, that meant healing, but healing magic didn’t work like that. Sans shook his head. His mind was still far too frazzled to even begin to think about any of this.
Taking a few deep breaths, he reluctantly gained his feet and opened the bedroom door. His grip on the baby bones in his arms tightened as he assessed the damage from the night before. His eyes widened when he poked his head over the torn banister. How bad had he been last night?
Flowey came up beside him. After what had just happened, he was reluctant to let the baby bones out of his sight. Sans gave him a questioning look, Flowey nodded solemnly and reached his vines up to take the baby bones from his grasp. Sans took a step back and held her closer, rage creeping back onto his face, a growl escaping him as he stared the flower down.
Flowey sighed in exasperation. “You can’t keep hold of her forever trash bag.” Sans’s growl intensified as he took a further step back. Flowey lowered his vines in an attempt to appease the skeleton. “Alright look. Papyrus has gone to town. Before he gets back you’re going to need to clean up both yourself and this place. Do you really want him to come back to this?” Flowey waved a vine over the banister, gesturing to the chaos downstairs. “What do you think he’s going to do when he finds this place like this and you holding his kid? Don’t give me that look. You know he’s already claimed her.” Sans sighed. He knew the flower was right, that didn’t mean he was happy about it.
reluctantly loosening his grip on the baby bones, he placed her on the floor. Flowey reach out one of his vines and gently guided her towards him. “Now you go and clean up and I’ll… I’ll take care of this mess. But don’t make a habit of this! This is the one and only time I’m going to help you out, got that?” Flowey finished in a half-hearted yell.
Sans chuckled and nodded as he headed toward the bathroom. “Thanks bud.”
“Oh my god! Really, a Pun? Now, When I’m doing YOU a favour? UGHHHHH!”
Sans continues to chuckle as he turned on the shower. The sound of Flowey complaining still very much audible through the bathroom door. Sans stepped into the water, a sigh of relief escaping him as its warmth rained down, soothing his aching bones. He still couldn’t remember most of last night, or this morning for that matter, but all things considered, this was the best he had felt in a long time, and that was saying something.
